God Will Not Let You Down Because His Love Cannot Fail

What does the Bible say about Love?

Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O LORD. How precious is Your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of Your wings.

You have probably been hurt or betrayed by someone you love at some point in your life. Maybe you have experienced this more than once. Loving and trusting other people is risky. Once one person hurts you, it becomes harder to open up to others.

In contrast, Gods love is truly unconditional. He never fails you or betrays you. You do not need to hold back in your relationship with God, because He is totally trustworthy.

Gods Love For His Son

In the Old Testament we saw that God loves his own glory and delights to display it in creation and redemption. A deeper dimension of this self-love becomes clear in the New Testament. It is still true that God aims in all his works to display his glory for men to enjoy and praise . But what we learn now is that Christ reflects the very glory of God and bears the stamp of his nature . In him dwells all the fullness of deity . In short, Christ is God and has eternally existed in a mysterious union with his Father . Therefore, Gods self-love, or his love for his own glory, can now be seen as a love for the glory of Christ who is the likeness of God . The love that God the Father has for the Son is expressed often in the Gospel of John and occasionally elsewhere . This love within the Trinity itself is important for Christians for two reasons: First, the costly beauty of the incarnation and death of Christ cannot be understood without it. Second, it is the very love of the Father for the Son which the Father pours into the hearts of believers . The ultimate hope of the Christian is to see the glory of God in Christ , to be with him and to delight in him as much as his Father does .

God’s Perspective On Suicide

The following is a true story about a Christian man who committed suicide. The experience lends an interesting perspective on the issue of Christians and suicide.

The man who had killed himself was the son of a church staff member. In the short time he had been a believer, he touched many lives for Jesus Christ. His funeral was one of the most moving memorials ever conducted.

With more than 500 mourners gathered, for nearly two hours, person after person testified how this man had been used by God. He had pointed countless lives to faith in Christ and shown them the way to the Father’s love. Mourners left the service convinced that what had driven the man to commit suicide had been his inability to shake his addiction to drugs and the failure he felt as a husband, father, and son.

Although his was a sad and tragic ending, nevertheless, his life testified undeniably of Christ’s redemptive power in an amazing way. It is very difficult to believe that this man went to hell.

The fact is, no one can truly understand the depth of someone else’s suffering or the reasons that could drive a soul to such desperation. Only God knows what is in a person’s heart . Only the Lord knows the extent of pain which might bring a person to the point of suicide.

You Could Never Earn Or Deserve The Love God Offers You

But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead.

You do not deserve Gods love. No one does. But the amazing news is that He loves you anyway.

This is grace: God loves you so much that He paid the price to offer you the gift of eternal life. None of us deserves it based on our own actions or how religious we think we are. Gods love is a precious gift we should treasure.

Sharing the truth in love

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.’ The woman said to him, I know that Messiah is coming . When he comes, he will tell us all things. Jesus said to her, I who speak to you am he.

John 4:24-26

You may have heard the phrase sharing the truth in love. If you love someone, you dont hide the truth from them you share it! Jesus wasnt shy about telling others the truth, but He always did it in a way that showed He cared for them. In the verse above, Jesus shared several truths to the woman at the well, none more important than revealing He was the Messiah that she was waiting for. As a result, the woman was so excited that she began sharing the truth of Jesus, and many people believed in Him because of her testimony.

Once again, Jesus did not hold back the truth from His disciples or us thousands of years later. That Jesus is the one and only way to God is an absolute truth that endures forever. He showed His love for mankind by proclaiming this truth and verifying it with His ministry. How To Love God With All Your Strength

Then I go on to a study of my actions. Do they show a love for God? For if I read Gods Word and dont obey it, it does me no good. If I merely put the words into my brain without putting them into practice, its just an encyclopedia entryonly information, no transformation. Stepping out on faith and taking action enables me to remember what I learned and it may even help other people. God likes it when Im led by faith to act.

Worship isnt just singing. It is living by faith so that other people see my example. It is presenting my body and my actions as a living and holy sacrifice to the God I love . It is doing things that are right even when people around me dont understand. Its speaking up when I see injustices. Its caring for the physically and spiritually wounded. It is doing hard things that take a lot of effort in order to possibly reap a harvest somewhere down the road. Its even doing things that are right and good even when we dont see any kind of reward.

Pleasing God should be my biggest and most wanted reward. A lot of times we do see some kind of reward for our actions of faith, but we dont always. Not all promises are meant to be fulfilled in the here and now some will be fulfilled much later, in a grander, more perfect way in the hereafter. Dont be fooled into the lie that your good deed will go unnoticed forever. It wont. God loves all our good deeds and will bring something good out of all of them.

Rooted And Established In Love

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledgethat you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

When it comes to the topic of love, this passage from Ephesians is so rich. Paul prays that the church would be strengthened by the Spirit, causing them to lay a foundation of love in their lives. And as that root is established, they would experience a continuing revelation of Christ’s love. Because in Paul’s economy, growing in our understanding of Christ’s love is integral to being filled with God’s fullness.

If we pay attention, the New Testament has a vital lesson to teach us about the proper motivations for holy living. Fear, shame, intimidation, and disapproval can only prompt people to go so far. Did Jesus Say To Love Yourself First

Jesus simply said to love others as yourself. He didnt say to love others after you love yourself. Thats just something people read into the passage.

Let me illustrate another way you could read into this passage and be just as wrong: Imagine that I hate myself. Since Jesus said to love my neighbor as myself, does this mean I should hate my neighbor since I hate myself? After all, I am supposed to love my neighbor the same way I love myself.

When Jesus said to love your neighbor, he wasnt saying to love your neighbor after you love yourself. And he wasnt saying to hate your neighbor if you hate yourself.

He was simply saying to love other people.
