Bible Verses About Worry For Moms

How to Stop Worrying About Your Past and Future

There are so many good Bible verses about worry. The Psalms are filled with verses about anxiety, but the rest of the Bible is also a wealth of knowledge. Worrying truly does us no good. It might at the time feel productive, we might take certain actions to remedy the situation we struggling with, and all of that could be productive for a time. However, at some point, we have to give our anxieties over to the only one that can do anything about them.

Christ has given us our children, our husbands, our lives, and it is not up to us to white-knuckle our way through life. We are not in control. The God of the universe is. He knows every hair on our heads and clothes us more brilliantly than the birds in the field.

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Matthew 6:40

Don’t Miss: Does The Bible Say Anything About Cremation

    What The Bible Says

Concern about past misdeeds: Before becoming Christians, some people in the first century were drunkards, extortioners, sexually immoral, and thieves. Rather than dwell on their past, they changed their ways and trusted in Gods great mercy, which he extends willingly. With you there is true forgiveness, so that you may be held in awe, says Psalm 130:4.

Uncertainty about tomorrow: Never be anxious about the next day, said Jesus Christ, for the next day will have its own anxieties. His point? Address todays concerns. Do not compound them by bringing tomorrows forward, which can cloud judgment and lead to rash decisions. Also keep in mind that many anxieties may later prove to be unwarranted.

Money worries: A wise man once prayed: Give me neither poverty nor riches. Instead, he sought contentmenta feeling that merits Gods approval. At Hebrews 13:5, we read: Let your way of life be free of the love of money, while you are content with the present things. For has said: I will never leave you, and I will never abandon you. Unlike money, which canand doesfail, God never fails those who trust in him and lead a simple life.

I have not seen anyone righteous abandoned, nor his children looking for bread.

    What Jesus Said About Worry

Jesus has plenty to say about worrying, so I will share some of his thoughts, followed by my comments.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Matthew 6:25

You have life, so dont waste your mental energy on peripheral issues such as food and clothing.

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:27

Worry accomplishes absolutely nothing, so dont do it.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

Instead of wasting your time with worry, do something practical and effective: Seek the Kingdom of God and righteous living. When you get your priorities straight, God promises to give you everything you need.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34

We are prone to wearing ourselves out worrying about stuff that hasnt happened yet and may never happen. Reality is that the things we dread and fear are seldom as bad as we imagine they will be.

Bottom line: If you deal with problems as they come along without allowing your imagination to run rampant on what may happen, you will always have the ability to cope.

Sure. The Bible is very practical, so lets dig a bit more.

Worry Is The Opposite Of Trust In God

The energy that we spend worrying can be put to much better use in prayer. The Christian life unhampered by worry is one of our greatest freedoms. It also sets a good example for unbelievers.

Live one day at a time and handle each worry as it comes–through prayer. Most of our worries never come to pass anyway, and those that do can only be handled at the moment and .

Here’s a little formula to remember: Worry replaced with prayer equals trust.

And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

Don’t worry about anything instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience Gods peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

    Be Aware Of Satans Schemes

Stay Present | What Does The Bible Say About FEAR ANXIETY and WORRY

Christians who dont focus on Gods Kingdom tend to pursue comfort, health, and prosperity. So, its easy for them to believe false teachers who promise that God wants all of His children to be healthy and wealthy. If you hold to this belief you can expect a rude awakening when life doesnt go your way.

Be aware, Satan has ruined countless lives by seducing them to believe God wont let anything bad happen to themonly to later deceive them into questioning Gods goodness when trials occur. To guard against the enemy you must be aware of his schemes.

Ephesians 4:14 warns, That we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

When Satan tempted Eve to distrust Gods motives, he got the foothold he needed to trick her into eating the forbidden fruit. And he wants to do the same to you so he can seduce you into rebelling against God .

After four years of watching my son have seizures, I recall how distressed I became. One day I told God, Im serving You and You wont heal my son? I quit! Thank God He brought me to repentance when the Spirit reminded me of a verse Id memorized, In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you .

Worry Plays Itself Out In A Number Of Ways

-Some people worry that God could never forgive them, so they dont think theyre worthy to be saved or to serve Christ.

-Parents fret over giving their kids everything they want or need. Forgetting the most important thing they can do for their children is to live a life so in love with God that it makes knowing and serving Christ irresistible to their kids.

-Wives worry their husbands dont love them enough. Husbands fear their wives dont respect them. So, they spend their energy holding one another emotionally hostage until the other gives them what they think they deserve. -Others fear financial ruin or want to appear successful, so they devote their lives to career and cash. Rather than blessing others with what theyve been given, they hoard their wealth in fear of losing what they have earned.

Do you identify with any of the aforementioned worries? I know I do. Worry is not something that only happens to the weak or carnal Christian. Its something that plagues all of us at different seasons of life. So, Lets look at:

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Hebrews 13:6 So we can confidently say, The Lord is my helper I will not fear what can man do to me?

Isaiah 43:1-3 But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

I Am a Worrier, What Does The Bible Say About Worrying?

When we keep our eyes focused on God, we remember his love for us, and we realize we truly have nothing to fear. God has a wonderful plan for our lives, and part of that plan includes taking good care of us. Even in the difficult times, when it seems like God doesn’t care, we can put our trust in the Lord and focus on his Kingdom.

Seek the Lord and his righteousness and everything we need will be added to us . God will take care of us.

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life-whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So dont worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Todays trouble is enough for today.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

It’s hard to image Jesus worrying. A wise person once said, There’s no use worrying over what you have control over because if you have control over it, theres no use worrying about it. Theres no use worrying about what you dont have control over because if you dont have control over it theres no use worrying about it. So that covers everything, doesnt it?

Ways To Stop Worrying About The Future

    Matthew 6:25

What does the Bible say about worry, specifically when it comes to worrying about the future? How can a Christian overcome anxiety according to the Bible? And what should you do if you fear the future?

The best way to overcome worry of any kind is to increase your faith in God. However, that can be rather vague advice. So what actions steps should someone take when they are attempting to increase their trust in God to overcome worry?

Here are 4 ways to stop worrying about the future.

  • Plan for the Future Wisely
  • The Bible does not say to not plan. It says to not worry. One passage that is often misquoted and used as an excuse to not plan or work hard is Matthew 6:25, Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes. Nowhere in this verse did Jesus say not to work or not to plan. He clearly said not to worry.

Sometimes you should feel anxious if you are being negligent about the future. Sometimes God puts a healthy pressure on us to motivate us to act. If you procrastinate and know you are not planning well for the future, you should not be at peace.

  • Pray About the Specific Needs You Have and Seek God for a Specific Action Plan
  • When you can answer these questions you will stop worrying about the future.

  • Live a Meaningful Life Right Now
  • Overthinking is a sign of under-living.
