Were There White People In The Bible

Hope Vs A Comfortable White Exceptionalism

White People’s Origins in the Bible: Lepers, Gehazi, Canaanites, Edomites

The very happiest white men I know are those actively working towards ending racism and sexism, not necessarily professionally, but in all the small ways they learn to. Like people who work on space programs or meditate on rejoining the wonder of their conception of God, I believe an enduring and deep form of happiness arises from imagining a future that is better than the present, and feeling like you have the power to move the world towards it. Hope for the future is not only a good way to be happy, it is the best form of happiness, the most enduring, the most resistant. White people have been told they have it the best it can be had, they are told by power structures, the media, and the people disadvantaged by a global system where overwhelmingly the poorest are not considered white. Thankfully, this pernicious and alienating thought is untrue a world without our present power structures is one of amazing possibilities, with art and play and dreams of space and life made wondrous beyond imagining.

Its hard to want anything to change when youre comfortable, and it is the particular quality of humans, both wonderful and terrible, to get as comfortable as they can where they are. Contentment doesnt really depend on how much stuff you have, or even how safe you are. Whites in terrible circumstances have often looked at blacks and decided their lives were fine. But there is so much more we all could have.

A Word On Human Development:

Albinos often say, and those that don’t say it, think it: “If Blacks could have created all of those great original civilizations all over the world, and had been the most advanced humans on Earth, then why are Africans so backwards?”

Recalling David Attenborough famously saying as he introduced a documentary on ancient Egypt: “Many find it hard to believe that the mumbling superstitious people to the south could have built such a great civilization.

Well Africans are backwards for the very same reasons that the Uyghurs, and the Nuristani, and all other tribal European type Albinos who stayed in their original homelands in Asia are backwards. The ENVIRONMENTAL stresses, and new points of view, and new methods, and other things that spur advancement and development, are absent from their lives and environment – and perhaps most importantly, they do not need to change in order to survive.

Essay #5 Do We Really Know The Bible And Its People

The Bible has often been misinterpreted by those wanting power over others. All over this country Christians are behaving badly. Does the Bible talk about Christians with racist attitudes?

Even from the beginning of the Bible skin color didnt seem to be a problem. People of color fought against biblical heroes and some of them were biblical heroes. According to Wikipedia and many other encyclopedias, the origin of the word Cush is from the ancient Egyptian language and denotes a person of dark-skinned complexion. Cush was the eldest son of Ham and the father of Nimrod, who was the first mighty man and mighty hunter . I Acts 8:26-40, it talks about Philip meeting and teaching an Ethiopian eunuch, sitting in his chariot reading, about Jesus.

Clearly then, White scientists us the presence of Albinism genes in ancient humans to tell if they were White like modern European’s. All the while denying that modern Europeans are Albinos, or rather, derived from the original Central Asian Albinos who invaded Europe. To be clear, most modern Europeans are not pure Albinos. Rather, they are various levels of mulatto, derived from the original Germanic, Slav, and Turk Albinos who invaded Europe, and the Black Europeans they encountered, as they entered Europe.

The Swiss anti-fascist theologian Karl Barth is well-known for advising people to read Scripture with the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other. If he lived today, would he have advised the same when using our smartphones and scrolling through social media feeds?Thats what I was doing when I came across one of the popular images of 2020: a White woman at a Black Lives Matter demonstration with a placard that read There are no White people in the Bible . That seemed like something worth taking time over.

White Christianity has often depicted characters in biblical scenes as pale-skinned. Given the peoples origins and location, this is unlikely. Christianity in its origins was a movement consisting principally of colonized people who suffered under military occupation in the Middle East and Africa. The opening lines of Matthew even give us a family tree that shows Joseph, a many-times grandchild of Abraham and Sarah, as the descendent of migrants from what is now Iraq.

World’s End And Armageddon

Christian Identity adherents believe in the Second Coming and Armageddon. Their predictions vary, and they include a race war or a Jewish-backed United Nations takeover of the US, and they also endorse physical struggle against what they consider the forces of evil. While the Soviet Union has disappeared as a vital threat in their rhetoric, many Christian Identity adherents believe that Communists are secretly involved in international organizations like the United Nations, or the so-called “New World Order“, in order to destroy the United States. Unlike many Protestant Fundamentalists, Christian Identity adherents reject the notion of a Rapture, based on their belief that it is a Judaized doctrine which the Bible does not teach.

Who were the Ammonites, Moabites and Edomites in the Bible?

When the kingdoms of Israel and Judah controlled the land of Canaan, the kingdoms of Ammon, Moab and Edom ruled east of the Jordan. Although the Bible offers information about these three Iron Age kingdoms, recent archaeological discoveries are bringing to light a fuller picture of them. In his article Ammon, Moab and Edom: Gods and Kingdoms East of the Jordan, published in the November/December 2016 issue of Biblical Archaeology Review, Joel S. Burnett examines the incredible archaeological discoveries from Ammon, Moab and Edom.

Who were the Ammonites? In the Bible, they are described as being descendants of Ben-ammi, who was the son of Lot and Lots younger daughter . The capital of the Iron Age kingdom of Ammon was Rabbah, which is located at modern-day Amman, Jordan. Burnett describes the boundaries of Ammon: The Ammonite heartland comprised the north-central Transjordanian Plateau encircled by the upper Jabbok within a 12.5-mile radius of its capital at the headwaters of the Jabbok. The Ammonites primary deity was the god Milcom. Depictions of Milcom have been uncovered through archaeological excavationsas have representations of Ammonite kings, such as the monumental statue uncovered at Rabbah in 2010.

For many years, African American worshippers were relegated to the First Presbyterian balcony. Church authorities later permitted them to have a church a few blocks away where they could worship separately under the supervision of the First Presbyterian elders. It became known as Ladson Presbyterian Church, after one of the church’s early pastors.

The church has only a few dozen active members these days, but the congregation is close, and the Sunday services are intimate and joyful gatherings. There is no longer any connection to the original church.

“I don’t know anyone who goes to First Presbyterian,” said Rosena Lucas, 88, a longtime Ladson member. “I’ve never had any interest .”

Nor has Hemphill Pride, an elder in the Ladson congregation. “I see that church as a stranger, really,” he said. For Pride and other Ladson members, the Thornwell connection still taints the parent church.

“It’s an affront to me,” Pride said. ” buildings named after people who interpreted the Bible in that manner is disrespectful to all Black people.”

Editor’s note:In response to NPR’s reporting, the elders of First Presbyterian Church voted on July 6 to remove the “Thornwell” name from their church buildings and lecture series.

Why There Are No White People In The Bible

Why There are No White People in the BibleDan Bouchelle

  • Because the amount of evil done in the name of race is staggering and beyond calculation. It must end.

  • Because there is a false idea, still prominent in many parts of the world, that Christianity is a white or western religion. This makes it difficult for many people to embrace Christ because they have been hurt by white people who claim to follow Christ.

  • Too often, Christians from the western world have bought into false racial ideas that have directly or indirectly supported white primacy. This undercuts the faithfulness, justice, credibility, and impact of the gospel. Lurking behind the struggle American missionaries sometimes have with trusting national leaders in other countries is the unspoken and unrecognized factor of race.

What Does The Bible Say About Race

Any serious biblical study of race or ethnicity should start in Genesis 1. The Bible does not start off with the creation of a special or privileged race of people. When the first human being is created he is simply called adam, which is Hebrew for humankind. Adam and Eve are not Hebrews or Egyptians they are neither White nor Black nor even Semitic. Their own particular ethnicity is not even mentioned, for the Bible seems to stress that they are the mother and father of all peoples of all ethnicities. Adam and Eve are presented as non-ethnic and non-national because they represent all people of all ethnicities.

This reality provides a strong starting point for our discussion of what the Bible says about race. Indeed, John Stott declares, Both the dignity and the equality of human beings are traced in Scripture to our creation. To presuppose that ones own race or ethnicity is superior to someone elses is a denial of the fact that all people are created in the image of God.

The so-called Curse of Ham

In regard to the history of racial prejudice in America no other passage in Scripture has been as abused, distorted and twisted as has Genesis 9:18-27. Thus it is important that we clarify what this passage actually says .

It should be stated clearly and unambiguously that every reputable evangelical Old Testament scholar that I know of views this understanding of Genesis 9:18-27 as ridiculous, even ludicrous. It is completely indefensible on biblical grounds.

Role In The Nation Of Islam

The doctrine of Yakub was one of the reasons for splits in the Nation of Islam. Malcolm X in his Autobiography notes that, in his travels in the Middle East, many Muslims reacted with shock upon hearing about the doctrine of Yakub, which, while present in NOI theology, does not appear in mainstream Islam. He rejected the story in his later statements, asserting that anyone of any race who intentionally deprives others of basic human rights is a “devil”.Warith Deen Mohammed, who took over the Nation of Islam after his father Elijah’s death rejected it almost immediately, and tried to re-invent the Nation as a mainstream Sunni Islam movement.

Louis Farrakhan reinstated the original Nation of Islam, and has reasserted his belief in the literal truth of the story of Yakub. In a 1996 interview, Henry Louis Gates, Chairman of Harvard University’s Afro-American Studies Department, asked him whether the story was a metaphor or literal. Farrakhan claimed that aspects of the story had been proven accurate by modern genetic science and insisted that “Personally, I believe that Yakub is not a mythical figurehe is a very real scientist. Not a big-head silly thing, as they would like to say.”

Farrakhan’s periodical The Final Call continues to publish articles arguing that modern science supports the accuracy of Elijah Muhammad’s account of Yakub. The NOI splinter groups the Five-Percent Nation and the United Nation of Islam also believe in the Yakub doctrine.

Race And Ethnicity In The Bible

Like the world we inhabit today, the worlds of both the Old and New Testaments were ethnically diverse and richly textured by an assortment of cultures, languages and customs. And also like today, ancient peoples had a number of ways of distinguishing between locals and out-of-towners, friends and enemies, the elite and the marginalized. Prejudice comes in all varieties, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

From time immemorial, humans have held prejudices against others based on their ethnicity, the color of their skin or factors such as where theyre from and how they speak. Since prejudices usually go without being said, in the text of Scripture we are left with gaps in the stories.

In Genesis 27:46, for example, Rebekah exclaims her frustration with Esaus wives, not because he had more than one, but because of their ethnicity: Im disgusted with living because of these Hittite women, she says to Isaac. If Jacob takes a wife from among the women of this land, from Hittite women like these, my life will not be worth living. Rebekahs comment is heavily laden with ethnic prejudice. There was something about Hittites that sent her up the wall. Most of us dont know what it went without being said.

Quote: Today’s Central Asians are extensively mixed-race with both White and East Asian blood and the White element is older since the Whites were there first and are the indigenous people of Central Asia.

Views On Racial Politics And Economics

The first documents which advocated Christian Identity’s views on racial politics and economics were written by Howard Rand and William J. Cameron after the Great Depression. In 1943, Rand published the article “Digest of the Divine Law” which discussed the political and economic challenges which existed at that time. An excerpt from the article states: “We shall not be able to continue in accord with the old order. Certain groups are already planning an economy of regimentation for our nation but it will only intensify the suffering and want of the past and bring to our peoples all the evils that will result from such planning by a group of men who are failing to take into consideration the fundamental principles underlying the law of the Lord.”:202

Bible Of Oppression And Liberation

The Africans who were brought to America from 1619 onward carried with them diverse religious traditions. About 20 to 30 percent were Muslim, Pierce said. Some had learned of Christianity before coming to America, but many practiced African spiritual traditions.

Early on, many slaveholders were not concerned with the spiritual well-being of Africans. But few had qualms about using Christianity to justify slavery.

Some theologians said it was providence that had brought Africans to America as slaves, since their enslavement would allow them to encounter the Christian message and thus their eternal souls would be saved, said Mark Noll, a historian of American Christianity.

Some preachers encouraged slave owners to allow their slaves to attend worship services though only in separate gatherings led by white proslavery preachers. They had to be seated in the back or the balcony of a segregated church. Those men of God argued that the sermons on the injunction in Ephesians and Colossians, slaves, obey your earthly master, would promote docility among enslaved workers.

Washingtons Museum of the Bible displays a slave Bible, published in 1807, which removed portions of Scripture including the Exodus story that could inspire rebellious thinking.

Slaveholders frequently noted that the Israelites of the Old Testament owned slaves.

How Are Changes In The Slc45a2 Gene Related To Health Conditions

Oculocutaneous albinism – caused by mutations in the SLC45A2 gene

More than 20 mutations in the SLC45A2 gene are responsible for oculocutaneous albinism type 4. The most common SLC45A2 mutation in the Japanese population switches a single protein building block in the SLC45A2 protein. Specifically, this mutation replaces the amino acid aspartic acid with the amino acid asparagine at protein position 157 . Other mutations, including changes in single amino acids and deletions or insertions of genetic material in the SLC45A2 gene, have also been reported in several populations worldwide. Mutations in this gene reduce or eliminate the function of the SLC45A2 protein in melanin production. Because this protein is important for normal pigmentation, its loss leads to changes in skin, hair, and eye coloration and problems with vision that are characteristic of oculocutaneous albinism type 4.

DEFINITION OF SLC45A2 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Membrane-associated transporter protein also known as solute carrier family 45 member 2 or melanoma antigen AIM1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC45A2 gene.
