Bible Verses About The Lord & Prayer

Q& A: What does the Bible say about tattoos, body art and piercings? by Jacob Prasch

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 – First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

– Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Proverbs 15:29 – The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

What are you focused on? We are always being pulled in various directions by people, circumstances, work, neighbors, kids, and world events. Everything happening around us is demanding our immediate attention.

Paul advises us that we should be intentional about where we put our focus and what we engage with. Its not going to be easy, and were going to need to say no to certain things.

We need to do the work of focusing on what is good, pure, and worthy of praise. Thinking about the disappointments weve faced, tragedies, and losses will cloud our minds and leave us uninspired and unproductive.

When we focus on the good things and the God things in our lives, we will find more joy, hope, and purpose.

Art From A Biblical Perspective

The first mention of God glorifying art in the Bible comes from Exodus 31:1-11. It says:

Then the Lord said to Moses,See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the holy Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skillsto make artistic designs for work in gold, silver, and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in carving wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you: the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law with the atonement cover on it, and all the other furnishings of the tentthe table and its articles, the pure gold lampstand and all its accessories, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, the basin with its standand also the woven garments, both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests, and the anointing oil and fragrant incense for the Holy Place. They are to make them just as I commanded you.

Many People Get Tattood To Honor God

What does God say? He says He does not want to be honored in the same way the world honors their idols. He does not want to be worshiped in the same way. God is not like us. Just because the world is changing and the culture is different does not mean Gods ways and desires are changing.

7. Deuteronomy 12:4 Do not worship the LORD your God in the way these pagan peoples worship their gods.

8. Leviticus 20:23 You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them.

What God Finds Important

What Does the Bible Say About Art?

God doesn’t focus on our outward appearance. It is what’s on the inside that matters most to Him. The Bible tells us that God’s focus is on developing our inner beauty so that it can be reflected in everything we do and what we are.

1 Samuel 16:7 – “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. A man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

James 1:23 – “Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror.”

For The Gifts And The Calling Of God Are Irrevocable Romans 1: 29 Esv

Have you ever felt like youre unqualified? You mightve had big dreams, but disappointments caused you to give up or settle for something less.

The good news is that God hasnt given up on you no matter what youve experienced in the past. God hasnt taken away your gifts or calling. Irrevocable means that no person and no circumstance can take it away from you.

This doesnt mean you dont have any responsibility. The gifts and calling for your life are like a vehiclewe will always have access to the keys, but its our job to start the engine, put it in drive, and steer in the right direction.

If youve found yourself feeling like your dream is too big for you to handle, know that God has equipped you and called you to do something great. He has given you the specific gifts that you need to fulfill what Hes called you to do.

What The Bible Says

What Does the Bible Say About Art?

The Bible is clear concerning attempts by the living to contact the deada practice that was common in ancient times. For example, Jehovah Gods Law to the nation of Israel said: There should not be found in you anyone . . . who consults a spirit medium or . . . inquires of the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to Jehovah. The Bible also states that those who practice spiritism in any of its forms will not inherit Gods Kingdom.Galatians 5:19-21.

We Shouldnt Look Down Upon People With Tattoos

I believe that tattoos are a sin, but that doesnt mean that there arent many godly men and women with tattoos. I even have tattoos from my youth. I am not condemning any believer with tattoos. I love all my brothers and sisters in Christ regardless of appearance. However, from studying Scripture I strongly dont believe God would want tattoos for His children.

Most of the time tattoos dont give off the appearance of godliness and I know that, but there are many believers who look down upon others with tattoos and that is a sinful attitude. There are some people who see others with tattoos and say, he is not Christian. We have to fight against a critical spirit. Once again just because God doesnt look at appearance does not mean it should be used as an excuse to get a tattoo.

19. John 7:24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.

20. 1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.

But Now O Lord You Are Our Father We Are The Clay And You Are Our Potter We Are All The Work Of Your Hand Isaiah : 8 Esv

This verse shows us an aspect of what our relationship with God looks like. We are clay in the hand of God. He is using His hand to form and shape us into the best version of ourselves.

If youve ever worked with clay, youll notice that its nearly impossible to create a piece thats exactly the same as another.

Just like works of clay, each person is a unique work of art handcrafted by God. Even identical twins have different fingerprints and personalities.

God has intentionally made humans that are each unique and offer something different to the world around them.

God could have easily created billions of people who were the same, but thats not the world He designed or intended. He loves the things that make you different from everyone else.

You have unique qualities for a purpose and you should embrace them with confidence.

Gathering the Artists: What the Bible Says About God, Art, and ...

“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image” . I was just a newborn Christian when I first ran across this verse, and it really shocked me. I loved to draw and paint my mother was an artist who drew and also sculpted things in wood. This verse made it sound like we were guilty of making forbidden images!

My pastor was reassuring the verse wasn’t saying what it sounded like. I had to combine it with the next verse before I would get the full command. That was the start of a quest to know what the Bible teaches about art. Over many years since, I have discovered many verses that deal with various aspects of art.

Thou shalt not create unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, or in the sea under the earth: Thou shalt not bend down thyself to them, nor serve them, states Exodus 20:4-5. On the surface, this command seems to be negative nevertheless, a closer examination reveals that it is not. 21.10.2015

Are Your Motives For Getting A Tattoo Truly Pure

I talked to people who said they want a tattoo because it means something, they can use it to share their faith, etc. Im not denying that their motives are not genuine. However, I strongly believe that people will deceive themselves to cover up the real reason that they want a tattoo. The heart is deceitful. Ive talked to people who said that they want to get a name tattoo of their family member. I talked to them and we finally got to the root of the reason.

They finally said it was because it looks cool. I believe for many believers the real reason is because it looks cool and everyone else has one and Im going to justify it by saying this. People say, I want a full sleeve to show off God, but instead they show off themselves. They go out of their way for you to see that they have a tattoo. Rarely do people even bring up the topic of faith with tattoos.

Do you desire to bring attention to yourself? Would that be something that you would admit? We can lie to ourselves when we really desire something. Deep down whats the real reason? Is it truly to bring glory to God or is it so you can show off, fit in, look cool, etc.

9. Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

10. 1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Does The Bible Say Anything About Music

In the Bible, music is found in many forms, including songs of praise, songs of victory, songs of mourning, and Psalms, above all. The combination of singing and instrumental music was also a common form of music expression, as well as dance. There was also an era when singing only dominated the music.

What does the Bible say about crystals and the magic arts?

When we are filled with the Spirit of God, we are also full of wisdom and intelligence and ready for what He’s called us to. The Lord appointed two people, Bezalel and Oholiab, to design art and use a variety of metals, jewels, and wood to help build the tabernacle.

These two men had God-given abilities to teach and lead others in creating the works of art that would reflect Gods glory in the land.

God is creative, and because were formed in Gods image and likeness, were creative. That doesnt mean all of us will be skillful metal workers or jewelers. You dont need to learn how to carve all kinds of wood or paint canvases.

God gives us a portion of creativity and grace thats unique and helps us achieve what were called to do. These men were chosen to build the tabernacle, but you can use your natural creativity in any type of business or hobby.

Did Jesus Have A Tattoo On His Thigh

There are many people who think that Jesus had a tattoo, which is not true. Jesus would not have disobeyed Gods Word in Leviticus. Nowhere in the Bible did it say Jesus got a tattoo or any disciples getting one. This passage was being symbolic. In those times a king would have his title engraved on his garment or he could have had a banner that said, King Of Kings.

15. Revelation 19:16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

16. Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

The Value Of Creative Gifts

In Scripture, we see a God who not only gives different gifts, but who uses those gifts for his glory.

In 1 Chronicles 29:1-5, before King David dies and passes on the throne to his son, Solomon, he gives the following commands regarding the new temple that is to be built.:

Then King David said to the whole assembly: My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is young and inexperienced. The task is great, because this palatial structure is not for man but for the Lord God. With all my resources I have provided for the temple of my Godgold for the gold work, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron and wood for the wood, as well as onyx for the settings, turquoise, stones of various colors, and all kinds of fine stone and marbleall of these in large quantities. Besides, in my devotion to the temple of my God I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the temple of my God, over and above everything I have provided for this holy temple: three thousand talents of gold and seven thousand talents of refined silver, for the overlaying of the walls of the buildings, for the gold work and the silver work, and for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now, who is willing to consecrate themselves to the Lord today?

What I find so interesting about this passage is the importance of two things:

What we create is not to be the object of worship, but the process of creating something may draw us into a deeper place of worship.
