The chapter and verse divisions did not appear in the original texts they form part of the paratext of the Bible. Since the early 13th century, most copies and editions of the Bible present all but the shortest of these books with divisions into chapters, generally a page or so in length. Since the mid-16th century, editors have further subdivided each chapter into verses each consisting of a few short lines or sentences. Esther 8:9 is the longest verse in the Bible. Sometimes a sentence spans more than one verse, as in the case of Ephesians 2:89, and sometimes there is more than one sentence in a single verse, as in the case of Genesis 1:2.
The Jewish divisions of the Hebrew text differ at various points from those used by Christians. For instance, in Jewish tradition, the ascriptions to many Psalms are regarded as independent verses or parts of the subsequent verses, whereas established Christian practice treats each Psalm ascription as independent and unnumbered, making 116 more verses in Jewish versions than in the Christian. According to independent research, the King James Version of the Holy Bible contains 1189 chapters Psalm 117 is the 595th there are 594 chapters before Psalm 117, and 594 after it. Thus, it is 117, not 118, that is the center chapter of the Bible.
The KJV has an even number of verses and, thus, does not have a single middle verse. The middle verses are Psalm 103:1-2, with 15,550 verses before and after.

There are small variations in the number of verses from one Bible version to another. What, or Who, is literally at the very heart of the King James Bible?
The King James Bible has 31,101 verses. Verse number 15,551the middle verseis todays Scripture: It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. If you notice, there are 14 words in this verse, and the middle words are the LORD . Modern versions, because they remove dozens of verses from the Bible text, do not have todays Scripture as their middle verse. Their middle verse does not urge us to put our trust in the LORD and avoid trusting man. Nay, the modern version translators want us to trust their judgment, that they have improved Gods Word .
If you listen to the average Bible teacher or preacher, read the average Bible commentary, or use the average study Bible, you will be advised to doubt the readings in the King James Bible. Scholarship, driven by the minds of lost people, always has a better translation than the one the Holy Spirit already chose. There is a constant push to make the King James Bible more scholarly, more agreeable to theologians and textual critics. Dear friends, if we say that we are not interested in opinions, but only interested in what the Bible says, then it is silly to offer opinions about what the Bible should say instead, and it is even more foolish to accept opinions about what the Bible should say instead.

The truth is there are 31,102 verses in the King James Bible. Therefore there is no single middle verse. You cannot have a middle verse with an even number of verses. However there are two middle verses. These would be verses 15,551 and 15,552

These are the middle two verses of the King James Bible. Both verses start with Bless the LORD, O my soul. Verse 1 continues and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Verse 2 concludes with and forget not all his benefits. These are powerful words coming from the two center verses of the Book.
Now lets count the words in these two middle verses. There are twenty-eight. Thats seven quadrupled instead of seven doubled Here we have seven compounded twice as much.
Now lets see if we can find some middle words in the center of Gods middle verses. Yes, I see four There are twelve words on one side of this phrase and twelve words on the other side. So the King James Bible has blesshis holy name right in the center of the two middle verses!

What A Shock To Just Learn A Few Minutes Ago
that Psalm 118 is not the middle chapter. Since there are 594 chapters from Genesis 1 to Psalm 116 and 594 chapters from Psalm 118 to Revelation 22, that makes Psalm 117 the middle chapter.
And since Psalm 117 also has the distinction of being the shortest chapter in the Bible, with only two verses, that means there is no middle verse using the chapter fulcrum.
So the two middle verses are: Oh, praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples! For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!
Hey, not too shabby thoughts either!
Then somebody claims that the KJV Bible has an even number of verses: 31,174. Using verses rather than chapters brings us back to Psalm 118:8-9.
But wait, it turns out people using computerized programs come up with disagreeing numbers for how many words in the KJV Bible. Maybe the most accepted one is based on the 1769 edition of the 1611 KJV, coming up with total of 31,102 words.

The fact can be argued depending on what Bible version you are using, but by most reckoning, the very center of the Bible when measured by chapter count is Psalms 118.
