This is one Id never heard of before researching some new Bible study apps to check out for this article, and its impressive.
I have it on my laptop and downloaded it here. In the App Store its called Accordance Mobile, by Oak Tree Software Inc.
You can compare two Bible versions of your choice in parallel scrolling, as they sync together. This is awesome! I particularly appreciate this feature because it allows me talk with friends who prefer a different version and we both get more out of the it because of the parallel experience.
When you register your free starter account you can even download several commentaries and reference materials to be used offline as ell.
According to the app developers, These materials range from Christian classics to Jewish publications to high-end reference works to the Dead Sea Scrolls in Hebrew.
Its certainly a growing platform and one to take notice of.

Ive been wanting for years to read the Bible straight through. In fact, I even bought a daily reading Bible that would help me go through the entire thing in 365 days.

Is One Translation Strategy Better Than The Other
Dave Brunn, author of One Bible, Many Versions: Are All Translations Created Equal? says no, that neither is mutually exclusive or mutually contradictory but are instead mutually complementaryeven mutually dependent.11
Brunn writes, When a translator tries to be more precise on one level, such as the word level, it tends to make the translation less precise on other levels.12 Thus, according to Brunn, each translation has its strengths and limitationsbut also balance each other out.
To illustrate what he means, Brunn references a telescope, a microscope, and a wide-angle lens:
Which of these three ocular instruments gives the best and truest perspective? . . . Obviously, each one is valuable in its own way, and each makes a distinct contribution toward helping us understand the world around us. A microscope does not eliminate the need for having a telescope. And a telescope does not eliminate the need for a wide-angle lens. These three instruments are not in competition with one anothervying for the position of greatest significance. Instead, they complement and balance one another. Each one increases the value of the others.13
So, too, are the many versions of the Bible. If we understand the translation goals of the various English versions and how they complement each other, Brunn says, that can help us glean the full richness of meaning God intended.14

The Best Childrens Bible
I was first of all surprised that a few of the Bibles I purchased were not really Bibles at all. While they contained Bible stories, the stories were summaries and the actual words of Scripture werent included.
So in specifically looking for the best childrens BIBLE.I had to exclude The Action Bible and the Complete Illustrated Childrens Bible because they arent actual Bibles.
Next, I felt a few of the Bibles fell short of being really great study resources.
The NIV Childrens Holy Bible doesnt have the word Study in its title for good reason. It is just the text of Scripture printed in relatively small type on black and white pages.
The Big Dreams, Big Prayers Bible for Kids fell short for me as as well too. While I appreciate the concept of a Bible that leads kids toward prayer, the Bible didnt feel built from the ground up to be all about prayer. Most of the features are limited to a few colored insert pages and some blank lines in the back for a prayer journal. In my opinion, some of the other Bibles had much stronger study content and that information was more deeply woven into the pages of Scripture.
The Discoverers Bible seems to be aimed at a little younger of an audience. I was specifically looking for a Bible that elementary kids might like so this particular Bible didnt really fit that bill. From page one it felt very young to me.

Ancient Near-Eastern societies were hearing dominant. They didnt have much that compares to books and authors like we do today. Instead, all information was shared orally.
