Bible Verses About Hope

How Could it be God’s Will That We Should Suffer? 1 Peter 2:18-21. (#14)

So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.

We must remember that suffering is temporary no matter how impossible they seem at present.

Romans 15:13

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

God provides for us holistically, not just physically or materially. He also provides us with emotional, mental, and spiritual needs.

Hebrews 6:19

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into Gods inner sanctuary.

If we hold on to hope and our faith and overcome the trials and suffering that come our way, these experiences will teach us many things.

Revelations 21:4

He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.

One thing that the earth has that heaven does not is suffering. We might suffer here but never will we in heaven.

Isaiah 43:1

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name you are mine.

There are so many terrifying things in this world, but God has chosen us and loves us. We have to trust that He will never do anything to harm us.

1 Peter 5:10

Elisha And The Shunammite Woman

8 One day Elisha went on to Shunem, where a wealthy woman lived, who urged him to eat some food. So whenever he passed that way, he would turn in there to eat food.9 And she said to her husband, Behold now, I know that this is a holy man of God who is continually passing our way.10 Let us make a small room on the roof with walls and put there for him a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp, so that whenever he comes to us, he can go in there.

11 One day he came there, and he turned into the chamber and rested there.12 And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. When he had called her, she stood before him.13 And he said to him, Say now to her, See, you have taken all this trouble for us what is to be done for you? Would you have a word spoken on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army? She answered, I dwell among my own people.14 And he said, What then is to be done for her? Gehazi answered, Well, she has no son, and her husband is old.15 He said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the doorway.16 And he said, At this season, about this time next year, you shall embrace a son. And she said, No, my lord, O man of God do not lie to your servant.17 But the woman conceived, and she bore a son about that time the following spring, as Elisha had said to her.

The Great Woman Of Shunem

The Shunammite woman and her husband often saw Elisha, the man of God, passing their home, and eventually she prepared a room for him so he could come in and rest.

To show his appreciation Elisha promised her that soon she would hold a much longed for child in her arms and thats exactly what happened

Then one day her son was brought to her ill and, although she gently nursed him, the boy died.

Who among us wouldnt sympathise with the heartbreak of being given an only child for that child to then be tragically taken away.

What About Us Though

We all have experiences of sadness or worry or hopelessness in our lives times when God doesnt answer our prayers in the way we want.

What is it, in these times, that can help us say, It is well?

It is well because all that God does is ultimately for our good and His glory.

His answer is the best answer for us and His will is the safest route for our lives. Is this always easy? Absolutely not, and many have known the despair and heartbreak of the hard path.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

It is well because God has promised His peace.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

It is well because what may seem the worst-case scenario to us, as we feel the loss of a loved one, brings glory and His presence for them.

But hegazed into Heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

It is well because, when there is a parting, it is only temporary.

And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

The chorus of the Isaacs song brings the reassurance,

It Is Well Characteristics Of A Christian

The Shunammite woman was kind and generous. Before she perceived that Elisha was a holy man of God, she opened the doors of her house and fed him whenever he was in town:

One day Elisha went to the town of Shunem. A wealthy woman lived there, and she urged him to come to her home for a meal. After that, whenever he passed that way, he would stop there for something to eat .

After she knew that Elisha was a man of God, her brotherly kindness extended to providing the comfort of a room for him in her house:

She said to her husband, I am sure this man who stops in from time to time is a holy man of God. Lets build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp. Then he will have a place to stay whenever he comes by. .

In verses 2 Kings 4:11-17, we see the characteristics of temperance and patience surface in the Shunammite woman. Elisha wants to repay her for her for what she has done for him and offers to speak to the king or commander of the army on her behalf but she responds that she lives among her own people, or in other words, she is content with her present life. Gehazi then reveals that she does not have children because her husband is old. When Elisha prophecies that she will have a son in about a year, we clearly see that is the one thing that was missing from her life by the way she responds:

…. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid .

    3 John 1:2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper,& c.] Or succeed in all temporal affairs, in the business of life, in which he was and as success of this sort depends upon the blessing of God, which maketh rich, it is to be wished and prayed for from him:

and be in health that is, of body, which above all things above all outward mercies, is the most desirable for without this, what are the richest dainties, the largest possessions, or the best of friends? without this there can be no comfortable enjoyment of either of them and therefore of this sort of mercies, it is in the first place, and above all others, to be wished for, and desired by one friend for another. The rule and measure of this wish is according to the prosperity of his soul,

even as thy soul prospereth: the soul is diseased with sin, and may be said to be in good health, when all its iniquities are forgiven and may be said to prosper, when having a spiritual appetite for the Gospel, the sincere milk of the word, it feeds upon it, is nourished by it, and grows thereby when it is in the lively exercise of faith, hope, and love when spiritual knowledge is increased, or it grows in grace, and in the knowledge of Christ Jesus when the inward man is renewed day by day with fresh strength and when it enjoys communion with God, has the light of his countenance, and the joys of his salvation and when it is fruitful in every good work.

    Bible Verses About Trusting God

    Habakkuk 3:17-18

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Life does not always yield a good bounty in different aspects of our lives. But we should always find it in ourselves to thank the Lord because there will always be blessings in our lives, no matter how bleak things seem to be.

    Deuteronomy 31:8

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid do not be discouraged.

The Lord will never let us fall because He loves us. We must keep holding on to Him and trusting Him.

    Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

There is nothing like the comfort from the knowledge that God is with us, and He is here to stay.

    Psalm 33:22

Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.

When Gods love is all around us, and our hope and peace come from Him, we can face anything that the world and the enemy can throw at us.

    Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.

No matter what happens or what we go through, our best course of action is to trust God first.

In Ecclesiastes There Is The Call To Plant To Love To Live And To Work And Then To Enjoy The Fruits Of All Ones Labors

The presumed writer, King Solomon expressed these sentiments in this passage found in Ecclesiastes 3: 1-13, one of the books of the Old Testament. It might be familiar as they were used in a well-known song from the 1960s:

  • To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
  • A time to be born, and a time to die a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted
  • A time to kill, and a time to heal a time to break down, and a time to build up
  • A time to weep, and a time to laugh a time to mourn, and a time to dance
  • A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing
  • A time to get, and a time to lose a time to keep, and a time to cast away
  • A time to rend, and a time to sew a time to keep silence, and a time to speak
  • A time to love, and a time to hate a time of war, and a time of peace.
  • What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
  • I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
  • He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
  • I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
  • And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

What Does The It Is Well With My Soul Bible Verse Mean

We might be living our lives to the fullest, happy and satisfied, and then out of nowhere, tragedy strikes us like a solid 180 degrees. It is hard to go through trying times, but the most significant factor is our emotions. We might feel betrayed because we have been following and obeying God to the best of our abilities, and we still suffer.

Is God not supposed to give us good things if we do good and give us bad things if we are bad? But if this is the case, doesnt God sound more like Santa than God? The truth is, God is good all the time to all people. When we go astray, we can always count on God to be there no matter how far we have gone. Shouldnt we do the same for God?

Shouldnt we stay with and by Him even if things do not turn out the way we want them to? Shouldnt we hold on to God even when we get tired? God should be able to depend on us being there, like how we can always count on Him to be there.

It is well with my soul Bible verses can help us see how we can still feel and believe that everything will be okay even when the evidence points to the contrary. These verses will help us deepen our faith in the most crucial points of our lives when we are hurting. They contain messages of hope, love, strength, and comfort.

    Elisha Raises The Shunammite’s Son

my most favorite verse...hope all is well with you.

18 When the child had grown, he went out one day to his father among the reapers.19 And he said to his father, Oh, my head, my head! The father said to his servant, Carry him to his mother.20 And when he had lifted him and brought him to his mother, the child sat on her lap till noon, and then he died.21 And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God and shut the door behind him and went out.22 Then she called to her husband and said, Send me one of the servants and one of the donkeys, that I may quickly go to the man of God and come back again.23 And he said, Why will you go to him today? It is neither new moon nor Sabbath. She said, All is well.24 Then she saddled the donkey, and she said to her servant, Urge the animal on do not slacken the pace for me unless I tell you.25 So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel.
