The beast coming out of the sea is like a leopard, with feet like a bears and a mouth like a lions. In Daniels vision of the four beasts, the first was like a lion with eagles wings , the second was like a bear , and the third was like a leopard . John sees these beasts consummated in Daniels fourth beast, which is the beast he describes here . This beast is not autonomous but derives its totalitarian rule from the dragon, and thus its governing authority is demonic .
Timing For The Mark Of The Beast In Revelation
Christians believe Christs return is imminent, certainly, but they have thought this since apostolic times. Schreiner says the second beast is a kingdom rising out of the sea which is not humane, civil, or supportive of its citizens. The sea was a place of chaos, danger, and evil for the Hebrews. We are watching for a time of chaos to sweep the globe, bringing widespread political upheaval, censorship, despotic legalism, and terrorism.
We see strife in the Middle East, the Near East, in many parts of the African continent, and across South America. It feels like the end is upon us, but chaos has not taken over nations across the globe.
The example of a despotic evil empire contemporary to the Apostle John as he wrote Revelation was the Roman Empire. Scholars argue about dating Revelation, but Schreiner and many others agree that John was probably writing in the 90s.Emperor Domitian was certainly inhumane, greedy, and violent, but there was no sign that Domitians rule was popular or that the public would follow their cruel and unpredictable leader. The Senate was overjoyed at Domitians death, and his memory was officially condemned following the emperors murder. Schreiner argues that the beast was not Nero, who had been dead for many years by this time, and even a legend about his resurrection could not be evoked convincingly three decades after his death.
How To Avoid The Mark Of The Beast
The Bible says the mark of the beast will be forced on an unsuspecting world before the return of Jesus Christ. This world will not realize it is following the teachings of a false religious system.
But God gives those who read the Bible and believe the Scriptures a clear choice. If we hold to and practice the faith of Jesus and keep the commandments of God, we can reject the mark of the beast. Our booklets Gods 10 Commandments: Still Relevant Today and The Sabbath: A Neglected Gift From God examine the sign God gave that stands in opposition to the mark of the beast.
Choosing to obey God will have consequences for those who reject the mark of the beast. But this is the choice we must make in order to please God and to receive eternal life in the family of God.

What Can You Do To Prepare For The Coming Of The Antichrist
Christians resist worldly leadership and demonic influence by putting their faith in Jesus Christ and preparing for his kingdom through their faith and good deeds. Opposition to Christ in any age is not a condition for worry, but an opportunity to draw close to God and to stand firm in the faith, practicing Jesus’ teachings to love God, love others, and even to love those who persecute us.
Those who stand fast to the end, will be given the crown of life.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
God will reward those who remain faithful to Jesus Christ. We need not worry about the temporary condition of the world, or leaders who deny Christ and his Kingdom. God will sustain his followers through persecution in the future, just as He has done in the past.
The following Bible verses about the Mark of the Beast help can help us to better understand the persecution of Christians and how to endure with bold faith.
What Is The Mark Of The Beast In The Bible
What does the Bible say about the mark of the beast? Should we be worried about this mark in our life?

“Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.”
The book of Revelation is an imagistic feast a fantasy writer’s treasure trove, full of beauty and horror. Some people would say that this beast in Johns vision has already come and gone Hitler caused hundreds of thousands of Jews and countless others to be marked and murdered. But the prophecy found in Revelation has not been fulfilled. What is this mark and who is the Beast?
What Does The ‘mark Of The Beast’ Scripture In Revelation Say
The apocalyptic biblical term comes from Revelation 13: 16-18. According to the Apostle John in the New International Version Bible, a pair of beasts will rule the Earth with cruelty. Their evil reach which can be interpreted as hidden manipulation will require all people who engage in commerce to wear the mark of the beast. The Apostle John did not identify what the mark looks like, although some theologians translate Scripture to associate the number “666” with it.
Pastor Darin Wood of First Baptist Church in the oil town of Midland, Texas, wrote an op-ed in August for the Midland Reporter-Telegram that said, “One of my church family posed an honest question: ‘Pastor, is the COVID vaccine the mark of the beast? Ive been told it is.’ Their question was an honest and heartfelt one, and clearly, they were anguished about it. In kindness, I answered, ‘no’ and thought little more about it. Until the question came again. And again. And again.
Revelation Coronavirus And The Mark Of The Beast: How Should Christians Read The Bibles Most Fascinating Book
More By Kevin
I started this series when the whole world was talking about COVID-19, and some people were wondering if the signs of Revelation were unfoldingor would soon unfoldbefore our eyes. Thats what prompted these three posts on how to read the book of Revelation. Let me bring this shortseries to a close by trying to explain what may be the most famous sign in Revelation: the mark of the beast.
In order to understand the mark of the beast in Revelation 13:18, we need to see what is happening in the rest of the chapter. In the first half of chapter 13, were introduced to a beast from the sea. This beast is broadly representative of the political sphere. In the second half of chapter 13, we are introduced to a beast from the earth. This beast is broadly representative of the religious sphere. If the first beast is the perversion of the state, the second beast is the perversion of true worship.
With that as a basic outline, lets go verse by verse through the second half of the chapter.
Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon .
This imagery comes from Daniel 8 where Daniel sees a vision of a ram with two horns. Thats where the picture comes from, but what it points to is a counterfeit Christ. This beast looks like Christ, the lamb, but speaks the lies of the dragon, that is, the Devil.

Who Is The Antichrist
The Antichrist will appear as a man who claims to be God. He will be powerful and he will control the entire world.
The idea of a worldly ruler who opposes God and persecutes his followers is first found in the book of Daniel. He will “speak great words against the most High and wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws” .
While some Jewish writers applied this prophecy to the Hellenistic ruler of Palestine, Antiochus IV, other early Christian writers applied Daniels prophecy to the Roman emperor Nero and other political leaders who persecuted Christians.
These leaders were called antichrists because they opposed Jesus and his followers.
1 John 2:18
Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.
1 John 2:22
Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
The Apostle Paul warned the church about a leader who would not only oppose Christ but would entice people to worship him as god.
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
God Reigns Over The Beast
Twice more we see what God has given the beast. First, God has allowed him to make war on the saints and conquer them. This does not mean the saints surrender their faith . It means God allows the beast to take their lives this too follows the pattern found in Daniel, where Daniel says about Antiochus IV Epiphanes, This horn made war with the saints and prevailed over them . God grants the desires of the beast for a period of time, so that the beast exercises authority over every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. We see here the reach of the imperial cult and the totalitarian nature of the beasts rule.

What Do Health Care Workers Say Do People Actually Cite This As A Reason To Avoid The Shot
Nicole Williams, a traveling intensive care unit nurse, said she has heard the “mark of the beast” as a reason not to get vaccinated many times.
“I get being hesitant because it is new and we don’t know the long-term effects, but calling it the ‘mark of the beast’ is crazy,” Williams told USA TODAY.
Williams has worked in hospitals in Texas, New York, California and Hawaii in her three years as a nurse.
She said the latest surge of COVID-19 cases has been “hell,” and a lot of younger people have died. She said vaccines are not a magical shot that cures all, but they’re one of many tools to fight the virus.
“I understand that people want to get back to how things were, but calling something you don’t understand the ‘mark of the beast’ is extreme and harmful,” she said. “I’m exhausted and tired of seeing so many people die, but I will do my damnedest to try and keep my patients alive.”
Emergency room physician Stephen Smith at Hennepin Healthcare told USA TODAY he hasn’t heard the ‘mark of the beast’ as a reason to not get vaccinated but a few other outlandish reasons.
Smith said one woman brought her child in for a fever and cough, and he explained that the toddler might have COVID-19. When he asked the mother if she had been vaccinated, Smith said her response was “Oh no, that turns you into a zombie.”
“Social media plays a 100% role in the misconceptions about the vaccine,” Smith said. “They get all their information off Facebook and get all this garbage.
Who Is The Beast In Revelation
There are two main beasts described in Revelation. The first beast is the Beast of the Sea, a political leader, who is given power and authority by Satan to govern for a time.
And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. And the beast that I saw was like a leopard its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast.
The second beast, the Beast of the Earth, is a false prophet who promotes the first Beast, enticing people to worship it.
Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.
The symbolism in Revelation draws upon Daniels vision of four political powers each represented by a different beast.

What Or Who Is The Beast Of Revelation
John, the one God chose to write down the book of Revelation, saw a vision of the future. Here is what he wrote concerning this beast:
Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority .
To understand what or who this beast in the book of Revelation is, we need to begin in Daniel 7:1-8, where we find the imagery of four animals, representing the four great historical empires. These were a lion , a bear , a leopard and a fourth beast .
It is this fourth beast described by Daniel and recorded by John that would have ten horns and receive a deadly wound before rising again before the end of this age . This empire is the beast of the book of Revelation.
The book of Revelation explains that the dragon gives the beast its power and authority. This dragon is Satan the devil. We should note that the human leader of this revived empire is also referred to as the beast . The mark of the beast is the mark or identifying sign of this empire.
The book of Revelation explains that the dragon gives the beast its power and authority. This dragon is Satan the devil . Satan uses this beast to rule and deceive the world.
A Second Beast Causes People To Receive The Mark Of The Beast
Lets now turn our attention to the word he in Revelation 13:16. The passage says, He causes all to receive a mark. Who is he? Verse 11 says, Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.
These characteristics indicate a false religious leader who causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast . This second beast is called the false prophet . This mark or sign represents a final revival of the Roman Empire at the time of the end. The religious leader that supports the beast causes people to accept it.
