You can get a PhD to sell you anything, and as a journalist I knew that. I could find anybody to tell me anything, if I wanted to find something that I wanted to find. But I pursued the evidence that made sense to me, and, of course, a lot of my pursuit isnt in the book. You could see from the footnotes and the questions I asked that Ive read all the liberal literature, Ive read the atheist literatureand I stood in the shoes of the skeptic as I asked the tough questionsI just didnt find them convincing.

I mean as I would read some of these left-wing scholars Id go, This doesnt make sense this doesnt add up. So I just kept kind of going down that path until I found stuff that made sense to me, that seemed to withstand scrutiny, that seemed to answer my questions, that seemed to be supported by reason and the historical evidence. It channeled me toward a certain conclusion, thats true. But I didnt start in that channel. I started much broader.

Scientific Facts That Disprove The Bible

…that about 100 yeas ago the Academy of sciences put out a list of 50 or 51 scientific discrepncies in the Bible and that not a single one of those discrepencies remains or that any scientist will back those diescrpencies anymore…

in Message 333 of that thread. I Googled it out of interest. It seems to be a ‘fact’ touted by evangelicals and their brethren, but nobody seems to be able to name these fifty one facts, the claim usually goes:

The spirit of the claim is no doubt true: science does not have dogma and changes its views as evidence roles in whereas the Bible doesn’t change – only its interpretation by its readers. Is the claim itself actually true? What are these facts? If it is true, does it support the strong claim that the Bible is eternally TRUE whereas as science is only temporally ‘true’?

Direct Ancestor But Not A ‘missing Link’

The scientists who have spent the past decade pouring over Ardi’s fragmented skeleton believe she walked upright and that her teeth resemble modern human teeth more closely than they do those of a chimpanzee.

Though they do not believe Ardi is a direct ancestor of humans or the long-sought “missing link,” paleontologists say she helps show that both human beings and apes evolved from a common ancestor about 6 million years ago, that did not look much like either.

Ardi, paleontologists say, was capable of grasping, something chimps need in order to climb in trees, but likely did not swing from branches the way modern chimps do.

For Menton, all the fragments indicate is that Ardi is an ape, plain and simple — and not anywhere nearly as old as scientists would have you believe.

“This is just a pea and shell game. Is it a human ancestor, or isn’t it?” asked Menton.

Menton believes scientists sat on the Ardi discovery for over a decade just to roll it out during the Darwin anniversary. He questions the ability to accurately date any fossils more than a few thousand years old, let alone millions, and he said the condition of the skeleton was so incomplete and fragile that serious research was almost impossible.

Menton said Ardi’s skull and feet are exactly the kind of skull and feet you would expect an ape to have and have none of the features of modern humans.

The big bang is a story about how the universe came into existence.It proposes that billions of years ago the universe began in a tiny, infinitelyhot and dense point called a singularity. This singularity supposedlycontained not only all the mass and energy that would become everythingwe see today, but also space itself. According to the story, the singularityrapidly expanded, spreading out the energy and space.

It is supposed that over vast periods of time, the energy from the bigbang cooled down as the universe expanded. Some of it turned into matterhydrogen and helium gas. Thesegases collapsed to form stars and galaxiesof stars. Some of the stars created theheavier elements in their core and thenexploded, distributing these elementsinto space. Some of the heavier elementsallegedly began to stick together andformed the earth and other planets.

This story of origins is entirely fiction.But sadly, many people claim tobelieve the big-bang model. It is particularlydistressing that many professingChristians have been taken in bythe big bang, perhaps without realizingits atheistic underpinnings. They have chosen to reinterpret the plain teachingsof Scripture in an attempt to make it mesh with secular beliefs aboutorigins.

Do Jehovahs Witnesses Believe In Logic

Logic is based on proof, much like mathematics. One can believe in logic just about as much as one can believe that 2 + 2 = 4. Its not really something you believe in, it just sort of exists. You may not know it via its formal name of logic or its formal rules, but its something you use daily. For instance:

The ground is covered in snow outside, it must have snowed.

The above sentence is an example of what in logic is called an argument.

First, there is an implication present. Here, the implication is every time snow is on the ground it means that it snowed. Implications tend to have a if X then Y kind of structure.

Second, we have the premise, the ground is covered in snow outside, which when combined with our implication that says that snow on the ground means that it snowed, is used to imply the truth of the it must have snowed. See how premises and implications work together?

Its important to note that if the premise are true, and the implication is true, then we can say the conclusion is true, and the inference is valid. If the premises are false, or the implication is untrue, then we cannot state that the conclusion is true. Think that last part over a bit. This is important.

And thats basically logic 101 for you, you construct arguments with true premises in order to imply the truthiness of some final conclusion.

Disproving the Resurrection wasnt easy! In fact, it was impossible. My research caused me to realize: The case for the resurrection of Jesus is powerful and persuasive. That evidence led me to my own faith in Christ, and in the years since that investigation, Ive been helping other Christians understand how we can have confidence in the biblical accounts of the Resurrection.

At Easter, were not just celebrating a holiday of chocolate eggs, ham dinners and time with our families. No, we are recognizing that Christs resurrection authenticates His claim that He is the Son of God.

You see, anyone can make claims, and Jesus certainly made transcendent, messianic and divine claims about himself. He claimed He was the Son of God. But if He actually came back from death, that affirms His divine identity. As the apostle Paul said, If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins .

If the resurrection of Jesus is true, then His teachings are not just wise words from an old, dead sage. They are the very words of God. Were compelled to follow these teachings and help our children understand that Jesus deserves our worship and our allegiance.

His resurrection means that He is still alive, and we can encounter Him today. And because of His atoning death on the Cross, all those who follow Him have received forgiveness for their sins, and heaven is open for all of us.

The Resurrection truly changes everything.

1. Miracles are non-repeatable. This means it is impossible to recreate the circumstances of a miracle in a lab setting for testing.

2. Miracles are events in history. Like all historical events, we cannot reproduce them for study.

We should be careful though. Neither of these observations proves the existence of miracles. They simply shows that science is the wrong tool for disproving them. Again, we are left with the same question: should I trust the testimony of the eyewitnesses?
