Word Counts: How Many Times Does A Word Appear In The Bible

Greek and Hebrew Words for Happiness Used in the Bible

The table below gives some word counts for four popular versions of the Bible. There is no single correct way to translate the ancient Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek Bible manuscripts into English. The grammar, structure, and style of those languages are very different from English, and a literal word-for-word translation is not possible. Therefore, the number of times a particular word appears is usually different for each version of the Bible.

So, in your count you dont have the word LAW! Why not? Is it because you dont want to keep it and therefore believe that it is or was done away with? The LAW is still in effect today as it has been for all time! I also disagree with your statement on getting a correct or even close translation from Hebrew, Aramaic to English!

This list doesnt claim to be any sort of comprehensive list or even a list of important words in the Bible, or anything like that. Its just more of an example of an idea. Im sure anyone could easily find out using google how many times any word appears. We have a long list of articles were working on, or we would add to it now, but will make a note to add some words to it.

What Does The Bible Say About Happiness

Have you ever wondered how are we able to be happy? Where does happiness come from? It is a gift from God. True happiness is only found in Jesus Christ. Nothing gives you an everlasting joy and happiness like Jesus Christ. Many people try to substitute Christ for other things to make them happy such as sin, works, ice-cream, hobbies, possessions, and more, but this joy only lasts for a moment.

Then, you will go back feeling more miserable when you are done and when you are alone. We were not made to live without Christ. We need Christ and all we have is Christ. If you want happiness and joy you must trust and rest upon Him. These inspirational happiness Bible verses include translations from the KJV, ESV, NIV, NASB, NKJV, NLT, and more.

Why The Birth Of Christ Is News Of Great Joy

After God used Moses to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, the first thing they did was to rejoice and sing to the Lord. They werent in the promised land yet, and their circumstances were not the best. Yet they rejoice in the salvation of the Lord who brought them out of slavery .

Several years later, when the children of Israelite faced exile and captivity, Isaiah wrote of a time when God would raise a new prophet like Moses who would deliver his people. On that day, the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing everlasting joy shall be upon their heads they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. .

The Israelites waited for hundreds of years for the Messiah and joyfully expected His coming to deliver them from their oppressors. And Jesus is that messiah who will bring everlasting joy.

When the angel announced His birth to the shepherds, he said it was good news of great joy for all the people. , and when the shepherds saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy . Even unborn John the Baptist leaped with joy at the coming of Jesus .

They all rejoiced because God had come to dwell with them as He did of old . And like Moses, Jesus came to deliver Israel, but also gentiles . His rescue is more significant because he sets us free from sin, death, and judgment and makes us right with God .

4, 5. How can we gain and maintain happiness?

4 The first thing that Jesus focused on is especially important: Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the Kingdom of the heavens belongs to them. How do we show that we are conscious of that need? We do so by taking in spiritual food, cherishing spiritual values, and giving priority to worshipping the happy God. If we take those steps, our happiness will grow. We will strengthen our faith in the coming fulfillment of Gods promises. And we will be encouraged by the happy hope that Gods Word provides for true worshippers.Titus 2:13.

5 Building a strong relationship with Jehovah is a vital part of finding lasting happiness. The apostle Paul was inspired to write: Always rejoice in the Lord . Again I will say, Rejoice! To enjoy such a precious relationship, we need to acquire divine wisdom. Gods Word states: Happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who acquires discernment. It is a tree of life to those who take hold of it, and those who keep firm hold of it will be called happy.Prov. 3:13, 18.

    Happiness Vs Joy Quotes

Joy is distinctly a Christian word and a Christian thing. It is the reverse of happiness. Happiness is the result of what happens of an agreeable sort. Joy has its springs deep down inside. And that spring never runs dry, no matter what happens. Only Jesus gives that joy. S. D. Gordon

Happiness is smiling when the suns out, joy is dancing in the downpour.

Happiness is based on whats happening, but joy is based on what we believe.

Joy is that kind of happiness that does not depend on what happens.

Joy seems to me a step beyond happiness happiness is a sort of atmosphere you can live in sometimes, when youre lucky. Joy is a light that fills you with hope and faith and love.

What Is Happiness In The Bible

Happiness is a gift from the Lord. Most of this article is about us finding true happiness in God. However, lets take a moment to talk about Gods happiness. Believers can rejoice because God has made a way for us to be right with Him through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Due to the perfect work of Jesus Christ, we can now know Him and enjoy Him. What a glorious privilege!

Lets not look to what we can do for God. No! Its about what He has already done for us. Not our works, but the perfect work of Christ on the cross. When we realize the significance of the cross of Christ, we then realize that when God sees us, He rejoices in happiness because He sees the perfect work of Christ. God delights in you and He loves you deeply. Happiness and joy is only possible because of God! Praise the Lord for His goodness and this amazing gift.

    1. James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

    Putting It All Together

Biblical joy comes from the Lord. It is a perpetual gladness of the heart that comes from knowing, experiencing, and trusting Jesus. Martin Lloyd-Jones said, joy, in other words, is the response and the reaction of the soul to a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Moreover, biblical joy is not based on our possessions or circumstances like worldly joy. Warren Wiersbe defines joy as that inward peace and sufficiency that is not affected by outward circumstances. It, of course, doesnt mean Christians must never feel or express their pain. The Christian life is wrought with afflictions, and like the psalmists, we should express our grief and pour out our hearts to God.

However, even during our difficult times, we can still choose to have joy because of our hope in Christ. Paul exemplified joy in suffering throughout his ministry. Though he was beaten, shipwrecked, imprisoned, and more, he still had joy. He called it being full of sorrow and yet rejoicing and said in 2 Corinthians 7:4 in all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy.

How could Paul experience joy amid his tribulations? Well, Charles Spurgeon said it best, believers are not dependent upon circumstances. Their joy comes not from what they have, but from what they are, not from where they are, but from whose they are, not from what they enjoy, but from that which was suffered for them by their Lord.

My Favorite Bible Verse About Happiness

Before I wrap up this post, I thought itd be nice to share my favorite verse out of all the bible verses about happiness. Phillippians 4:4.

The reason why I chose that one is because a lot of bible verses on happiness, seem abstract. And at times they are hard to relate to. This one on the other hand doesnt leave room for interpretation.

It tells us to ALWAYS rejoice in the Lord. Simple.

Are You Pursuing Worldly Happiness Or Godly Joy

God wants us to pursue happiness. But not in the same way the world does. Not dependent on circumstances, the people around us, or the things we own. Our human nature tends to lead us away from the very actions and thoughts that will produce lasting joy, and causes us to chase after things that give us fleeting fun and happiness. Most of Ecclesiastes focuses on this very thing.

Since joy is a product of Gods spirit, the short answer is that we will have joy when we have and use His spirit. When we are looking outward to see others needs, studying and putting His words into practice, staying close to Him in daily prayer, and answering our calling to be a reflection of our Father in our day-to-day lives.

And these things we write to you, that your joy may be full
