Preach The Gospel Bible Verse

The Church Is The Light Of The World

John Piper Preaching the Gospel as Expounding the Whole Bible T4G20

For this is what the Lord has commanded us:I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth .

To the first-century Jew, the idea that Gods salvation would extend beyond Israel was completely foreign-despite the fact that God had always told Israel that through them all the nations would be blessed.

All of us who follow Christ are part of His goal of redeeming the whole world to Himself. We are the light of the world. There is no plan B.

Evangelism Is About Our Willingness To Go

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?And I said, Here am I. Send me!

God never coerces us to serve Him, but He continually offers us a choice. The sixth chapter of Isaiah tells of the prophet having a vision of the Lord in His throne room. This sobering vision helped propel him to volunteer to share the Lords message.

We, too, are motivated in direct proportion to our experience with God. If we struggle to find the inspiration to share the good news, perhaps its time to pray for a deeper revelation of Gods glory and holiness.

What Does It Mean To Preach The Gospel

Since Jesus started his earthly ministry, he has called various people to follow him and then told them to go out into all the world and preach the gospel . Many have come and undoubtedly many may have failed.

But of those that may have started off right, then fell short of their calling, many of them may have returned to Christ and started anew.

In Romans 1, from verses 8-13, Paul utilized the expression I thank my God through Jesus Christ to stress the point that Christ is the unparalleled mediator between man and God. No one else can do that, no priest, no shaman, no minister, no one, only Christ.

Through Christ, God sends his affection and pardoning to us through Christ, we send our gratitude to God .

At the center of the western world’s political power, the Roman Christians were profoundly noticeable. Luckily, their standing was phenomenal: their solid faith was spreading the word about itself all over the known world.

When individuals talk about our denomination or church congregation, how do they talk about us? Are their remarks precise? Would we rather that they notice different elements about us? What is the most effective way to get the general population to understand our faith?

Paul mentions praying without ceasing. When we constantly pray about a problem, we ought not to be shocked at how God replies. Paul had prayed to visit Rome so that he could give the Christians there some instructions.

Evangelism Has A Gold Standard

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age .

When we read this passage, we need to read it as Jesus marching orders. There isnt a person who has made the decision to follow Jesus who is exempt from this commission. This is about more than just getting someone to pray the sinners prayer. Its about equipping them to grow in grace and truth-and be people who take up this mission themselves.

Does The Bible Call All Christians To Share The Gospel

Preach the Gospel to Every Creature

Yes, most famously in a passage of Matthew known as the Great Commission. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus tells his followers, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.

There are many different ways you can help fulfill this mission. You dont have to be the first person to share the gospel with someone to play a part in their journey as a disciple. Discipleship takes a village!

Problem #: A False Dichotomy

Regardless of wherever the quote came from, it’s important to examine what kind of biblical doctrine that quote is trying to teach us. It’s particularly dangerous primarily because it immediately creates an unnecessary and false dichotomy between gospel demonstration and gospel proclamation.

The quote assumes and asserts that living like Jesus supersedes proclaiming the gospel of Jesus. It is as if to say “Don’t worry about talking about Jesus, just live like Him and everything will take care of itself”. This is a really popular position in our culture today because most Christians are super sensitive to the potential reality of offending anyone with their Biblical worldview. Therefore, in an attempt to not offend anyone, we adopt a weak missiology that neither Jesus nor the apostles practiced themselves. We must remember that right thinking leads to right living .

Nowhere in Scripture will you find that gospel demonstration and gospel proclamation are at odds with each other. In fact, both are commanded and intended to be in harmony and integrated as part of personal evangelism, disciple-making, and missional living. Literally, you can’t read more than one chapter in Acts without seeing the harmony of gospel demonstration and gospel proclamation. I could list 50+ examples in the New Testament but here are just a few examples of demonstration and proclamation going hand in hand in Acts:

The Spirit Will Guide Me In My Efforts To Share The Gospel

Everyone needs the gospel of Jesus Christ, but some people are more prepared than others to receive it. This is one reason we need the Holy Ghost when we share the gospelâto guide us to those who are ready. As you read Acts 16â21, note instances in which the Spirit guided Paul and his companions. What blessings came because they followed the Spirit? When have you felt the Spirit prompting you in your efforts to share the gospel?

On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised. For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised .

Its easy to feel God is prompting you toward a specific work and think His prompting is universal. This was a problem that was brewing in the early church. Peter felt called to witness to the Jews and struggled with Pauls contrary calling to preach to the Gentiles. In the end, dont be dissuaded from reaching the people you feel called and empowered to reach.

Demonstrate The Gospel In How You Live

Why We Need to Preach the Gospel

Sharing the gospel isnt just about what you say. What you do matters, too. For Christians, living itself is a way of sharing the gospel as much as teaching about it, says Kim.

I believe sharing the gospel faithfully happens in at least as many different ways as Jesus demonstrated it, Gregory adds. Sometimes it is by meeting peoples tangible needs for food as a witness to the God who created and cares about peoples bodies. Sometimes it is by protesting unjust systems as a witness to the God who leads a just Kingdom. Sometimes it is by showing people where to find the living water that will satisfy their felt needs. Sometimes it will be talking about the deep love of Jesus that compelled him to give up his life on our behalf.

Ultimately sharing the gospel in its fullness includes all of these components. Thats why sharing the gospel must be paired with ongoing discipleship, because there is always more good news about God to discover.

What Is Evangelism According To The Bible

All believers should be evangelical Christians. Jesus has commanded us all to share the Good News with others. God will use you to carry out His will. The more we witness the more people get saved. How can people get saved if they dont hear the gospel?

Stop hogging the gospel to yourself and spread it. If evangelism stops more people are going to hell.

The most loving thing you can ever do is share Jesus with an unbeliever. Evangelizing helps us grow in Christ. I know sometimes it is scary, but will fear stop you from making a difference?

Pray for strength and more boldness. Sometimes all we have to do is get those first few words out and then it will become easier.

Rely on the power of the Holy Spirit and wherever God has put you in life, dont be ashamed to talk about Christ.

You Know How We Lived Among You For Your Sake

What is the significance of this? Paul is saying that when the gospel came to the Thessalonians it came not only in word, in power, with deep conviction and with the Holy Spirit, but it was demonstrated in the lives of those who proclaimed it. These people heard the Word and they saw it. It was not only on the lips of the preachers but was demonstrated in the lives of those who did the preaching. They practised what they preached! They made the teaching about God attractive .

Evangelism Isnt About Fancy Arguments

Selling Our Product IV

And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified .

The New Testament is full of Pauls intelligent defense of Christianity, so its heartening to hear that his method for evangelism was not based on crafting the most eloquent and air-tight arguments. On the contrary, he came with a simple message of Christ and His sacrifice.

The best evangelists arent the greatest orators theyre the ones who are single-minded in their desire to share what God has done.

If I Do Not Preach The Gospel

1 Corinthians 9:16

For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!

In 1 Corinthians 9, Paul felt the need to defend his apostleship and to prove that ministers had a right to be paid for their work. Paul wanted the Corinthians to understand that, as an apostle, he had the right to receive material support from them, though he had not claimed it. He did not want his pattern of self-denial to be misunderstood.

Of course, Paul was not preaching the gospelthe good news of the Kingdom of God for material gain or even to boast about what he had accomplished. Paul felt compelled to preach. He believed that if he did not fulfill his commissionif he, like Jonah, tried to escape his responsibilitywoe is me !

God had entrusted this stewardship to him, and the best he could do was fulfill it willingly . Then he hoped to become a partaker of the prize when the good news came to pass .

Jesus Christ commissioned not just the apostle Paul but the entire Church to preach the good news to the world . Woe to us if we do not preach the gospel! Read more about the gospel in the article What Is the Gospel of the Kingdom?

What Are The Blessings Of Sharing The Gospel

Gospel Preaching of Isaiah – 2 – John MacArthur

There are many blessings to sharing the gospel. One of the most important is that we are fulfilling our purpose as disciples of Christ.

We are called to share the good news with everyone, and when we do, it brings joy to our hearts.

Additionally, when we share the gospel, we are helping others come to know Christ and be saved. That is an incredible blessing!

Additionally, sharing the gospel also strengthens our faith. As we tell others about Christ, we are reminded of His goodness and mercy, which helps us to grow in our own relationship with Him.

Finally, when we share the gospel, we are bringing glory to God.

How Do You Share The Gospel

Many people assume sharing the gospel is only about trying to convert new people to Christianity. Ultimately, converting someone to Christianity is the work of the Holy Spirit. Spreading the gospel is a way for us to partner with the Holy Spirit in that work. But evangelism doesnt have to mean making your best sales pitch for Christianity to anyone who will listen. And drawing new believers isnt the only reason for sharing the gospel.

Evangelism itself often has more to do with building relationships than building a case for Christianity. In fact, most evangelists look more like the neighbor who offers to shovel a snowy driveway than the street preacher who peddles salvation like a heavenly retirement plan.
