The Church Is The Light Of The World
For this is what the Lord has commanded us:I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth .
To the first-century Jew, the idea that Gods salvation would extend beyond Israel was completely foreign-despite the fact that God had always told Israel that through them all the nations would be blessed.
All of us who follow Christ are part of His goal of redeeming the whole world to Himself. We are the light of the world. There is no plan B.

We, too, are motivated in direct proportion to our experience with God. If we struggle to find the inspiration to share the good news, perhaps its time to pray for a deeper revelation of Gods glory and holiness.

When we read this passage, we need to read it as Jesus marching orders. There isnt a person who has made the decision to follow Jesus who is exempt from this commission. This is about more than just getting someone to pray the sinners prayer. Its about equipping them to grow in grace and truth-and be people who take up this mission themselves.
Does The Bible Call All Christians To Share The Gospel
Yes, most famously in a passage of Matthew known as the Great Commission. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus tells his followers, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.
There are many different ways you can help fulfill this mission. You dont have to be the first person to share the gospel with someone to play a part in their journey as a disciple. Discipleship takes a village!

Problem #: A False Dichotomy
Regardless of wherever the quote came from, it’s important to examine what kind of biblical doctrine that quote is trying to teach us. It’s particularly dangerous primarily because it immediately creates an unnecessary and false dichotomy between gospel demonstration and gospel proclamation.
The quote assumes and asserts that living like Jesus supersedes proclaiming the gospel of Jesus. It is as if to say “Don’t worry about talking about Jesus, just live like Him and everything will take care of itself”. This is a really popular position in our culture today because most Christians are super sensitive to the potential reality of offending anyone with their Biblical worldview. Therefore, in an attempt to not offend anyone, we adopt a weak missiology that neither Jesus nor the apostles practiced themselves. We must remember that right thinking leads to right living .
Nowhere in Scripture will you find that gospel demonstration and gospel proclamation are at odds with each other. In fact, both are commanded and intended to be in harmony and integrated as part of personal evangelism, disciple-making, and missional living. Literally, you can’t read more than one chapter in Acts without seeing the harmony of gospel demonstration and gospel proclamation. I could list 50+ examples in the New Testament but here are just a few examples of demonstration and proclamation going hand in hand in Acts:
The Spirit Will Guide Me In My Efforts To Share The Gospel
Everyone needs the gospel of Jesus Christ, but some people are more prepared than others to receive it. In the end, dont be dissuaded from reaching the people you feel called and empowered to reach.
Demonstrate The Gospel In How You Live
Sharing the gospel isnt just about what you say. What you do matters, too. For Christians, living itself is a way of sharing the gospel as much as teaching about it, says Kim.
I believe sharing the gospel faithfully happens in at least as many different ways as Jesus demonstrated it, Gregory adds. Sometimes it is by meeting peoples tangible needs for food as a witness to the God who created and cares about peoples bodies. Sometimes it is by protesting unjust systems as a witness to the God who leads a just Kingdom. Sometimes it is by showing people where to find the living water that will satisfy their felt needs.
