Christian Quotes About Bullying

What does the bible say about bullying?

Like Adam and Eve, most of the time the real object of our worship isnt some creature out there, its this creature right here. In the end, my idolatry centers on me. Whats more, if I can persuade you or bully you or manipulate you, my idolatry will include you worshiping me as well. Michael Lawrence

Be sure to taste your words before you spit them out.

Keep in mind, hurting people often hurt other people as a result of their own pain. If somebody is rude and inconsiderate, you can almost be certain that they have some unresolved issues inside. They have some major problems, anger, resentment, or some heartache they are trying to cope with or overcome. The last thing they need is for you to make matters worse by responding angrily.

A negative mind will never give you a positive life.

Blowing out someone elses candle wont make yours shine brighter.

Why Are There So Many Bad Feelings About The Bible

Good question. And while some have issues with what the Bible actually says, others have problems with the people who quote it.

Before we begin, please watch the video for a long-overdue apology.

Okay. So there are a lot of people out there who believe the Bible is judgmental, inconsistent, ignorant, and old-fashioned. Their issue is with the Bible itself. Some of those people have read the Bible. Some havent. And some dont even want to, since some obnoxious Bible-beater has turned them off. Their issue is with Bible people.

Lets deal with the Bible issue first.

Can the Bible judge us at times? Yes. And thats not always fun. Sort of like a personal trainer pushing you to be your best self. But along with the judgment, theres a stronger message of love. The two actually go together. Is it old-fashioned? Well, its certainly old. But despite the fact that it was written by 40 or more people thousands of years ago, we still find great wisdom and fresh ideas in the Bible. But dont take our word for it. Look inside the Bible and see for yourself.

Now, to the Bible people issue.

We think theres a big difference between wielding the Bible as a sledgehammer and letting it lead us into an authentic interaction with God. Were aiming for the latter.

Whether your feelings about the Bible have been negative, positive, or apathetic, we invite you to get the whole picture by Looking Inside.

What Does The Bible Say To Do If Someone Hurts You

In the Bible, Jesus says that we are to forgive those who hurt us. In Matthew 18:21-22, it says, Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times? Jesus answered, I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’ We are to forgive others not because they deserve it, but because Jesus has forgiven us. When we harbor resentment and bitterness towards someone, it only hurts us. It is important to remember that God is always willing to forgive us if we repent and ask for forgiveness.

We Should Love And Serve Others Above Ourselves

The Bible is very clear that Christians are to love others as much as we naturally love ourselves. Jesus demonstrated Gods view of how we should love by taking on the role of a servant. As the Son of God, he had every right to come to this world as a king to be glorified, but instead he came in humility and put others before himself. We want to follow his example in our lives.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross! Philippians 2:3-8

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12

He answered, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and, Love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27

How Do I Read The Bible

Pin on Words to Live By

In this video, Dieula offers some advice.

Different people read it different ways. And thats totally fine. Want to find the best way for you?

Some people dig into a single verse and try to think of a million things it might mean. Others read it just like they would read any other book, cover to cover. Others read it out loud, by themselves or with a group, which often helps them understand the words and meanings better. But, honestly, if you just want to read the Bible, then read it. Hunker down in a comfy chair and read a whole chapter or two. Try to wrap your head around the big story.

Some tips: Find a translation of the Bible that speaks to you. There are dozens of versions available now, and most of them are faithful to the original languages. Some sound like Shakespeare. Some sound like everyday conversation. Try a few out and see what grabs you.

You dont have to read the whole Bible from beginning to end. There are a few parts that some readers find tough going, and those could derail your best intentions. Try skipping around to find the stories that interest you. We suggest Genesis, Exodus, Ruth, 1 Samuel, Daniel, Jonah, or one of the four books about Jesuss lifeMatthew, Mark, Luke, or John.

After youve read a few stories, try reading a complete letter from the New Testamentlike maybe the four chapters of Philippians or the five chapters of James. Read a Psalm out loud. Or go through Song of Songs with your significant other.

What You Can Do To Stop Bullying

We can help kids deal with bullying by helping them:

  • manage their emotions
  • surround themselves with the right people
  • treat others with kindness
  • make wise choices

We need to encourage kids to look out for people being treated unfairly and to stand up for them.

To help stop bullying, parents, church leaders, community leaders, and educators should be aware of the warning signs and work together to create safe and healthy environments for kids.

Offer support to kids who have bullied and who have been victimized to help them heal.

Jesus taught the golden rule to Treat others as you want them to treat you .

This is more than just a good saying. The Golden Rule is the Christ followers way of life. We must model and teach this attitude over and over until its ingrained in our kids hearts.

Empathy and love are the opposite of bullying, and the biggest part of the solution. And when we model this, teach this, and encourage this in kids, we can help stop bullying.

Esthers Story Of Bullying In The Bible

Esther, too, lived in exile. Her mother and father had passed away, and her uncle raised her. Gods hand was upon her. She won the favor of one of the Kings officials. Esther is chosen to be the new Queen.

Life should be good as the queen, right? As the queen, you should surely be immune from bullying, right?

Esthers uncle, Mordecai, was being bullying by another leader named Haman. Haman hated Mordecai because of his truthfulness and because Mordecai would not bow down to him.

Remember, bullies love power. They love lording it over others. Mordecai would only bow down to God. Haman, one of the biggest examples of bullying in the Bible, wanted power over Mordecai.

Hamman, the Bully, was so angry that he was determined to kill Mordecai. And not just Mordecai. Hamman wanted to kill everyone else who was Jewish, like Mordecai, which Haman didnt realize included Queen Esther.

Bullies are often so focused on exerting their power that they last out at a wide range of people. You may wonder why in the world you have been chosen for their attention!

It isnt about you, but them. You havent done anything wrong. In fact, you have likely been doing things right!

Dont seek revenge or carry a grudge against any of your people. Love your neighbor as yourself. I am GOD. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. Shift Away From A Victim Mentality

Talking with your child to get out of the mindset that they are the victim is a strong way to thinking about why me. Instead, encourage them to think about what may be causing this other person to be a bully. This will set them up not let the bullies impact their self-esteem, and set the right mindset for how to respond and deal with bullies.

Timothy : 7 Paul Say Love Drives Out Fear In This Popular Scripture

2 Timothy 1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. God doesnt want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

How Should We Respond

One important note here: if you are being bullied, cyber or otherwise, there are a great many professional resources available to you. It is critical that you not remain silent. It is critical that you open up and share with someone else what is going on.

Again, please do not remain silent. Bullying is horrific behavior, but it can also be a criminal offense. If someone, anyone, physically abuses you, sexually attacks you, steals from you or is trying to steal from you, or shares private information or images please, please, please report it to the police.

Whatever is occurring you are not the problem, and others are there to help.

Aside from that, what does the Lord expect of us? To borrow an old phrase WWJD? What would Jesus do? We all know that Jesus response to being unjustly executed on a cross was to forgive his offenders. Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing .

We also know what Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount about loving our enemies: you have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you .

In his letter to the Romans, Paul expounds on Jesus teaching:

Paul borrowed a phrase that Solomon used in Proverbs:

If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you .

What Does The Bible Say About Dealing With Disrespect

The Bible is clear that we are to respect those in authority over us. For example, Ephesians chapter six says, Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you . We should also respect other people, even those who are different from us. In Romans 12:17-21, Paul says, Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for Gods wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge I will repay, says the Lord. On the contrary:

If your enemy is hungry, feed him

if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. We are called to love our enemies and do good to those who hurt us.

Why Is The Bible So Boring

Sure, the Bible can be a bit yawn-worthy at times, but it has riveting adventures, too.

In a way, the Bible is a vast storeroom, containing thousands of years worth of information and experience. Different parts will strike different folks in different ways.

For example: Leviticus is sort of a rulebook, akin to a modern-day penal code. You might find it tediousunless youre a lawyer.

Exodus has specs for the exact weights and measures for building temples and altars. Its really OCDunless youre an architect or engineer.

The Bible also contains many genealogies: lists of generation after generation, going back to the first-known human so it can sometimes feel like unraveling a very confusing family tree. But some folks are into that.

Inevitably, some things in the Bible just wont capture your fancy. But others might.

In fact, there are many stories in the Bible that are downright thrilling. The kind of dramas youd binge-watch on weekends. Stories about sex, murder, betrayal, deception, and redemption. Like the one where a teenage boy slays a warrior twice his size. Or the one where a sea splits in two. Or the one where a queen is served the head of a foe upon a platter. Yeah. Stories that are rarely G-rated.

Examples Of Bullying In The Bible

How Should Christians Think about Bullying? 3 Approaches.

23. 1 Samuel 24:4-7 And the men of David said to him, Here is the day of which the Lord said to you, Behold, I will give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you. Then David arose and stealthily cut off a corner of Sauls robe. And afterward Davids heart struck him, because he had cut off a corner of Sauls robe. He said to his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lords anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is the Lords anointed. So David persuaded his men with these words and did not permit them to attack Saul. And Saul rose up and left the cave and went on his way.

24. Luke 23:34 Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

25. 2 Corinthians 11:23-26 Are they servants of Christ? I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea and in danger from false believers.
