What Are Paradise And The Third Heaven

What Does the Bible Say About Heaven? part 1

Paradise

ParadiseParable of the Rich Man and Lazarus

Jesus also told the thief on the cross, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise. ” rel=”nofollow”> Luke 23:43). That suggests that Paradise is the same as the intermediate state where souls are taken immediately after death. Paradise is also mentioned in .

What Happens To Us In The First Minute After We Die

… the Bible certainly does indicate that when we die we enter immediately into Gods presence if we belong to Christ. From our earthly point of view, death looks somewhat like sleepbut not from Gods point of view. Paul declared, We are confident , I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord . Elsewhere he wrote, I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far .

Later, we will be given new bodiesbodies that will never age or be subject to death, because they will be like Christs resurrection body. As the Bible says, The dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed .

Takeaway: Death is not to be feared or dreaded if you are a follower of Christ. When we die, those who have accepted Christ will immediately enter Gods presence. We will receive new bodies that do not age, and enjoy eternal life in heaven.

Will We Know Our Relatives And Friends In Heaven Will We Still Be Married

Jesus did say that we will not be married in heaven:

Jesus said to them, “Those who belong to this age marry and are given in marriage but those who are considered worthy of a place in that age and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. Indeed they cannot die anymore, because they are like angels and are children of God, being children of the resurrection.

Jesus Calls Them By Name In Heaven

What Does The Bible Say About Heaven And Family

Notice that Jesus called Lazarus name, also Abrahams, Isaacs, Jacobs, and also Moses and Elijah in His reference to John the Baptist coming in the spirit of Elijah . Jesus even mentions the first two humans who were created . In Revelation 2:17 is says, Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. The important verses here are that we will be given a new name which indicates that we will be known by our old names too. In fact, our names are written in heaven in the Book of Life and our names are already registered in heaven as we read in Hebrews 12:23 which was written to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven.

Facts About Heaven That Will Surprise You

by Randy Alcorn on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 3:02 PM

In heaven, we’ll embrace God’s holiness and justice. God will be our source of joy. But will we miss things from earth? Will we become angels? Will we work? Author Randy Alcorn answers some of the common questions we all have about heaven.

When I anticipate my first glimpse of heaven, I remember the first time I went snorkeling.

I saw countless fish of every shape, size and color. Just when I thought I’d seen the most beautiful fish, along came one even more striking. Etched in my memory is the sound of a gasp going through my snorkel as my eyes were opened to a breathtaking underwater world.

As believers, I imagine our first glimpse of heaven will cause us to gasp in a similar waywith amazement and delight. That first gasp will likely be followed by many more as we continually encounter new sights in that endlessly wonderful place.

Though most of us are in no hurry to get to our final destination, we all have questions about it. After in-depth study of the Scriptures, here are some of the most frequently asked questions.

We Still Won’t Know Everything

God alone is omniscient. When we die, we’ll see things far more clearly, and we’ll know much more than we know now. But we’ll never know everything.

In heaven we’ll be flawless, but not knowing everything isn’t a flaw. It’s part of being finite. Righteous angels don’t know everything, and they long to know more . They’re flawless but finite. We should expect to long for greater knowledge, as angels do. And we’ll spend eternity gaining the greater knowledge we’ll seek.

Theyre Already Experiencing Great Joy

What Does the Bible Say About Heaven?

Why do we wonder if people can look down on us? Do we think it will bring us more joy? More comfort? Possibly, some answers?

Though we may long to see our friends and loved ones, and we will certainly enjoy our fellow servants in heaven, our joy and comfort on earth are to be in God, not focusing on saints who have gone on before us and whether they can see us from heavens heights.

It should satisfy us that the saints in heaven are already enjoying fullness of joy and eternal pleasures in the Lords presence .

Bible Verses About Loss And The Death Of A Loved One

Written by Shutterfly Community Last Updated: Dec 14, 2021

Loss is a part of life, but knowing that doesnt make it any easier. The death of loved ones often takes its toll on those left behind, and at times it can feel like grief is never ending. For some, an important part of the healing process comes with Scripture. Whether its for private reading and reflection or as a message to include on a sympathy card, the Bible has many meaningful verses to comfort the grieving. And we want to help by providing you a list of some of the most powerful Bible verses about loss.

The Queen James Bible

After hearing such self-justifications, many pro-family Christians wonder what bible the homophiles are getting their information from.

Believe it or not, there is an actual Gay Bible. The Queen James Version alters the eight verses in the 1769 King James Version that deal with homosexuality in a way that makes homophobic interpretations impossible.2

A person may disagree with the Bible on what it says about homosexuality, but it is just flat dishonest to produce a new version and then pretend that it is genuine. Perhaps this is why the editors of the Queen James Bible have wisely chosen to remain anonymous.

In reality, few sins are condemned by the Bible as explicitly as sodomy. Both the Old and New Testaments contain passages stating quite plainly that people who engage in homosexual activity will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

Continued Life Of The Soul

What Does The Bible Say About Heaven And Family

Jesus told His disciples not to fear for their lives eternal life is infinitely more valuable than one’s earthly life:

Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill you. They can only kill your body they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

In his Letter to the Philippians, the apostle Paul looked forward to the time he could leave this earthly life behind and be with Christ:

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.

What Will Heaven Be Like

I would like to attempt the impossible: to answer the 35 most frequently asked questions about Heaven. Obviously, it would take more than an article, more than a lifetime, and more than human wisdom to answer any one of these questions adequately. But “fools rush in where angels fear to tread.”

More seriously, sometimes a taste can whet the appetite for more complete consumption later on, and perhaps these samples will at least suggest ways to think about the subject.

1. How do we know anything about Heaven, anyway?

If we had no “inside information,” we could only speculate. Fortunately, we have some solid data to build on: divine revelation. I think God wants us to use our reason and also our imagination to explore the treasure of tantalizing hints in Scripture. To be indifferent to it is to be like the unprofitable servant who hid his master’s talent in the ground.

In having this data, we are in a position very different from that of the unbeliever . We are like the sighted compared to the blind, who can only speculate about things visible. We can do more than speculate about things invisible.

“What do you know about Heaven, anyway? Have you ever been there?” We can answer this challenge: “No, but I have a very good Friend who has. He came here and told us about it and showed it to us. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”

2. Why won’t we be bored in Heaven?

3. Will we recognize our loved ones in Heaven?

Based on his book, Defending Your Marriage, Dr. Tim and Noreen Muehlhoff share about the reality of spiritual warfare against marriages, and how to combat the enemys lies with the truth of God. Couples will be encouraged that theyre not alone in the fight for a godly marriage and better equipped to be a shining example for the world around them.

If Our Loved Ones Are In Hell Won’t That Spoil Heaven

In we’ll see clearly that God revealed Himself to each person and that He gave opportunity for each heart or conscience to seek and respond to Him . Everyone deserves hell no one deserves heaven. Jesus went to the cross to offer salvation to all . God is absolutely sovereign and doesn’t desire any to perish . Yet many will perish in their unbelief .

In heaven, we’ll embrace God’s holiness and justice. God will be our source of joy. Hell’s small and distant shadow will not interfere with God’s greatness or our joy in Him. All of this should motivate us to share the gospel of Christ with family, friends, neighbors and the whole world.

Why Is There No Marriage In Heaven

  • Humans are designed for intimate relationship primarily with God
  • In heaven, the picture will be superseded by the reality

And Jesus said to them, The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

Of all the Scriptures dealing with marriage, this is probably one of the least likely to appear on a wedding program. And no surprise there. After all, what young couple embarking on the most important relationship of their lives wants to hear that it wont last into eternity?

In fact, for many believers who are serious about the Scriptures, this qualifies as one of those difficult sayings of Jesus. Isnt marriage the most profound institution God created for humanity? Isnt the bond between husband and wife meant to be the most intimate, treasured relationship in this life? How can heaven be heaven without it?

The Hope Of Christs Return Ensures It

Look up 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18. Paul wrote this comforting letter to the Thessalonian Christians because some of their loved ones had died, and these young Christians were very concerned to know whether they would meet and recognise them again beyond the grave. So Paul wrote to assure them of the exact thing that would happen when the Lord returned: the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with themand so we will be with the Lord for everTherefore encourage each other with these words. Yes, we shall be together with our loved ones. There would be little comfort in anticipation if it meant that being together we should not know or recognise them!

Giving Up Sugar Tasting God’s Goodness

As a latchkey kid, Wendy Speake turned to sugar for comfort. Every Friday, she would pedal to the candy show and use her allowance to fill her bag with candy. And one day, when she was older and a mom of three young boys, she came to realize that she was still pedaling away from her stress and using sugar as comfort, instead of turning to Jesus. She was joyless, worn out, tired, and in need of a change. In this interview, Wendy will challenge Christians to take 40 days to focus on fasting from something they turn to instead of Jesus for comfort. She invited people to break free from a dependence on sugar and taste the goodness of God.

How Do You Get To Heaven

Contrary to popular belief, the Bible says we do not go to heaven or hell when we die. We sleep in the grave until the resurrection as the Bible says: “And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt” .

The entrance to heaven is not automatic for people who have simply tried to be good. The Bible says: “But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lambs Book of Life” . The qualifying factor for those who enter will be whether or not their names are written in the Lambs book of life.

To learn how to have your name written in the Book of Life see our topic on Salvation. The realities of heaven and the new earth can be only a prayer away.
