How To Pray Using The Bible

Praying Scripture For Peace

How to Pray the Scriptures

Scripture: Colossians 3:15 ;15 And let the peace from Christ rule in your hearts to which as one body you were also called . And be thankful , .

Prayer: Lord, please allow your peace to rule in my heart, like harmony in my soul that comes from Christ. Let it rule like an umpire, deciding all matters in my mind with finality. This is how Youve called us to live and how I desire to live. Also, help me to be appreciative and thankful I always want to give you praise!

Let The Holy Spirit Speak To You

Next, let the Holy Spirit speak to you through the passage. You can simply ask, Lord, what do you want me to pray about? The answer is often revealed in the areas you feel convicted, encouraged, passionate, or stirred to take action.;

Keep thinking about the take away the Holy Spirit led you to. In my case, I can be thinking about the areas in my life I havent been submitting to God. I may also be thinking about what it means to truly trust God and how I can be resting in his will.

Keep The Scripture Visible

Like I mentioned above, keep the scriptures with you at all times if you can. By writing them down on index cards, they are readily available for you to pray about at a moments notice. RememberAccessibility is KEY!

I recommend having scriptures on your vanity, your car dashboard, in your purse, above your kitchen sink, behind your front door, and wherever you want to have frequent reminds to pray the Word.

How To Pray When You Are Ill

Clearly, God wants us to come to him with our physical and emotional illnesses. The Gospels, especially, are filled with accounts of people coming boldly to Jesus for healing. Not only did he encourage such faith, but he also delighted in it.

When a group of men couldn’t get their friend close enough to Jesus, they made a hole in the roof of the house where he was preaching and lowered the paralyzed man down to him. First Jesus forgave his sins, then he made him walk.

On another occasion, as Jesus was leaving Jericho, two blind men sitting by the roadside shouted at him. They didn’t whisper. They didn’t talk. They shouted!

Was the co-creator of the universe offended? Did he ignore them and keep walking?

“Jesus stopped and called them. ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ he asked. ‘Lord,’ they answered, ‘we want our sight.’ Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.”

Have faith in God. Be bold. Be persistent. If for his own mysterious reasons, God does not heal your illness, you can be sure he will answer your prayer for supernatural strength to endure it.

What Do I Say

Start by addressing God directly in a way that acknowledges the uniqueness of who He is.

People will say things like, Father God, Heavenly Father or Almighty God. How you choose to address Him will remind you and anyone you might be praying with about who you are talking to and what He represents in your life.

Prayer in the New Testament is presented as a positive command . The People of God are challenged to include prayer in their everyday life, even in the busy struggles of marriage as it brings people closer to God.

Jesus encouraged his disciples to pray in secret in their private rooms, using the Lord’s Prayer, as a humble response to the prayer of the Pharisees, whose practices in prayer were regarded as impious by the New Testament writers .

Throughout the New Testament, prayer is shown to be God’s appointed method by which we obtain what He has to bestow . The Book of James says that the lack of blessings in life results from a failure to pray . Jesus healed through prayer and expected his followers to do so also.

Prayer, according to the Book of Acts, can be seen at the first moments of the church . The apostles regarded prayer as the most important part of their life . As such, the New Testament writers frequently incorporated verses from Psalms. Romans 3:1018 for example is borrowed from Psalms 14:13 and other psalms.

Tips For Praying The Scriptures

1)Understand what you are reading. If you are reading only one verse – read the verses before and after for understanding its context.; This keeps our prayers in alignment with what the Bible says.

2)Let the Holy Spirit lead you. Ask Him what He wants you to take away from the passage and pray about.

3)Make it your own. While the words are holy and inspired by God, He wants you to apply them to your life.; Ask yourself how His words could be true in your life or why you are not experiencing what Hes describing to you.

How Do I End A Prayer

A common way to end a prayer is by saying something like, In the name of Jesus, amen.

But why is this?

Well, think about how you began your prayer by addressing God directly, by name. This is important because it acknowledges that God is more than a force, more than an unnamed higher power or an idea.

God is a person choosing to be present in your life. Most importantly, He is the only person with the authority and ability to answer your prayers.

This common conclusion is a reminder of who this God is.

Whatever you choose to say can also act as a reminder that you believe God has heard your prayers and that you trust Him to know how best to answer them.

If youre the kind of person who starts talking to God as you go about your day, you dont need to wrap up every communication with a formal ending for God to take you seriously. God is a Father who loves His children to talk to Him as much as possible.

The Power Of Praying Scripture

Praying scripture is POWERFUL because we can come boldly and fully prepared to tackle any situation in prayer to God.

When we pray the Word of God we are developing and enhancing our own prayer language by simply using words already given to us in the Bible. You can even think of praying scripture as God giving you specific prayer prompts for every situation youll ever face or need to pray about in life.

We dont have to make anything up, be an eloquent speaker, or an infamous prayer warrior all we need is to apply Gods word to our lives and pray the scriptures!

Praying Gods Word is also powerful in that it aligns our prayers, thoughts, and perspective with His. It causes us to focus on the truth of His Word and it gives us a foundation of truth for our prayers.

We can use Gods Word to shape our prayers and animate the desire of our hearts and longing of our souls by simply praying Scripture.

Reading And Declaring Psalm 68

This Psalm would be too long to put in here, but I can highly recommend reading it out loud to declare it in spiritual warfare prayer.

When you pray read it over your life you could exchange some of the pronouns for specific sins or issues.

For example in Vers 2 instead of using them and wicked, you could use the spirit of adultery. Kind of like this:

As smoke is driven away, So drive;the spirit of adultery;away; As wax melts before the fire, So;let the spirit of adultery perish at the presence of God.

I have witnessed this Psalm just being read and demons manifesting and screaming because they couldnt bear this particular Psalm.

I believe this really can be a great weapon in your prayer for deliverance.
