Development Of The Christian Canons

The TRUE Hebrew Israelites defined by Scripture and history. WARNING you will be shocked!!!

Development of the Old Testament canonDevelopment of the New Testament canonSt. Jerome in his StudyJeromeLatinVulgate

The Old Testament canon entered into Christian use in the Greek Septuagint translations and original books, and their differing lists of texts. In addition to the Septuagint, Christianity subsequently added various writings that would become the New Testament. Somewhat different lists of accepted works continued to develop in antiquity. In the 4th century a series of synods produced a list of texts equal to the 39, 46, 51, or 54-book canon of the Old Testament and to the 27-book canon of the New Testament that would be subsequently used to today, most notably the Synod of Hippo in 393 CE. Also c. 400, Jerome produced a definitive Latin edition of the Bible , the canon of which, at the insistence of the Pope, was in accord with the earlier Synods. With the benefit of hindsight, it can be said that this process effectively set the New Testament canon, although there are examples of other canonical lists in use after this time.

The New Testament writers assumed the inspiration of the Old Testament, probably earliest stated in 2 Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God”.

Some denominations have additional canonical holy scriptures beyond the Bible, including the standard works of the Latter Day Saints movement and Divine Principle in the Unification Church.

The Bible Is Unique In Content

First, compared to other holy books, the Bible is unique in many respects. Not only was it composed by at least 40 writers, on multiple continents, over a span of 1,500 years, but it is not what we would expect to find were it made up. The Bible also includes major moral failings of its heroes, yet most writings of other religions tend to whitewash the flaws of their heroes.

Moreover, the Bibles theme is quite unlike those found in other religions. Manmade religions teach that a man can earn salvation through various practices and good works. The Bible explains that man is sinful, deserving of Gods judgment, and that no amount of good works could ever remove our guilt. God Himself solves our problem by becoming a man and taking our punishment upon Himself. Manmade religions are about what man can do for his god, but the Bible is about what God has already done for man.

Hebrew: Language Of The Old Testament

Hebrew belongs to the Semitic language group, a family of ancient tongues in the Fertile Crescent that included Akkadian, the dialect of Nimrod in Genesis 10 Ugaritic, the language of the Canaanites and Aramaic, commonly used in the Persian empire.

Hebrew was written from right to left and consisted of 22 consonants. In its earliest form, all the letters ran together. Later, dots and pronunciation marks were added to make it easier to read. As the language progressed, vowels were included to clarify words that had become obscure.

Sentence construction in Hebrew might place the verb first, followed by the noun or pronoun and objects. Because this word order is so different, a Hebrew sentence cannot be translated word-for-word into English. Another complication is that a Hebrew word might substitute for a commonly used phrase, which had to be known to the reader.

Different Hebrew dialects introduced foreign words into the text. For example, Genesis contains some Egyptian expressions while Joshua, Judges, and Ruth include Canaanite terms. Some of the prophetic books use Babylonian words, influenced by the Exile.

Modern Translations Are Different Bibles

Modern translations are not just simply different versions of the King James Bible written in contemporary language. These perversions are different Bibles entirely. Their foundation is not the God-preserved Textus Receptus of the New Testament. Instead, they are based on contaminated, Christ-denying manuscripts which had been rejected by the early church fathers.

This turning away from the true Bible to a wicked counterfeit is largely the work of humanistic scholarship. Men who call themselves textual critics have placed their thoughts and ideas above those of God and have presumed to improve upon that one Bible which has been given by God. One can only conclude that they have been so blinded by their compromise and delusions of self-importance that they forget God has already given us His Word. The duty of every believer today is to take the one Bible which God has given and proclaim its glorious message of salvation to a sin-sick world.

Morality Argument For Gods Existence

The Question is not, " Is the Bible True?" but rather, " How ...

We know that God is real because there is a moral standard and if there is a moral standard, then there is a transcendent moral Truth Giver. The moral argument has a few variations in the way it is articulated. The kernel of the argument dates back only to Immanuel Kant , so it is one of the newer arguments in this post.

The simplest form of the argument is that since it is obvious that there is a perfect moral ideal then we should assume that that ideal had an origin, and the only rational origin for such an idea is God. Putting it into even more basic terms since there is a such thing as objective morality , then that objective moral standard must come from outside of our experience, from God.

People challenge this argument by challenging the presupposition that there is an objective moral standard, or to argue that God is not necessary that finite minds and the societies they make up are able to contemplate moral standards for the common good. Of course, this is undermined even by the word good. Where did the concept of good come from and how do we distinguish good from evil.

This is a particularly compelling argument, especially when we are confronted with unquestioned evil. Many, even among those who argue against the existence of God, would argue that Hitler was objectively evil. This admission of objective morality points to the God, the one who established those moral categories in our hearts.

Who Wrote The Bible: The New Testament

Finally, the question of who wrote the Bible turns to the texts dealing with Jesus and beyond.

In the second century B.C. with the Greeks still in power, Jerusalem was run by fully Hellenized kings who considered it their mission to erase Jewish identity with full assimilation.

To that end, King Antiochus Epiphanes had a Greek gymnasium built across the street from the Second Temple and made it a legal requirement for Jerusalems men to visit it at least once. The thought of stripping nude in a public place blew the minds of Jerusalems faithful Jews, and they rose in bloody revolt to stop it.

In time, Hellenistic rule fell apart in the area and was replaced by the Romans. It was during this time, early in the first century A.D., that one of the Jews from Nazareth inspired a new religion, one that saw itself as a continuation of Jewish tradition, but with scriptures of its own:

While the writings attributed to John actually do show some congruity between who wrote the Bible according to tradition and who wrote the Bible according to historical evidence, the question of Biblical authorship remains thorny, complex, and contested.

What To Do With Enoch And Other Books Like It

Christians should treat the book of Enoch and other books like it the same way we do with other Apocryphal writings. Some of what the Apocrypha says is correct and right, but much of what it says is wrong and historically inaccurate. If you decide to read these books, you may read them as an interesting novel containing interesting stories from history. You may not read them as the inspired, inerrant, infallible, clear, and authoritative Word of God.

But we highly recommend you read any of these books with caution and discernment. If you find yourself influenced by the wording held within the books of the Apocrypha, then close them for the time being. And make sure to stay in the Word on a daily basis. Although it’s fun to explore extra-biblical books written millennia ago, it’s far more important to invest in God’s Word.

The Corrupt Foundation Of Modern Translations

The Real Bible Version Issue EXPOSED!

The “other Bibles” which are so prevalent today are as dependable as quicksand. They will vary even from printing to printing as the constantly changing whims of man directs. However, each new Bible will continue down the same path of confusion and error. You cannot produce good fruit from a rotten tree.

You Dont Argue What Is Not Fake

God is real because you dont argue what is not real. Think about it for a second. Does anyone argue about the existence of the Easter bunny? No. Does anyone argue about the existence of the fictional Santa Claus that climbs peoples chimneys? No. Why is that? The reason is that you know Santa is not real. Its not that people dont think that God is real. People hate God so they suppress the truth in unrighteousness.

The famous atheist Richard Dawkins can be seen in this video saying mock and ridicule Christians to a crowd of militant atheists. If God is not real why would thousands of people come out to hear an atheist speak? If God is not real why do atheist debate Christians for hours? Why are there atheist churches? Why are atheists always mocking Christians and God? You have to admit that if something is not real you dont do these things. These things clearly show that they know He is real, but they want nothing to do with Him.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

Psalm 14:1 To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good.

It Cannot Be Improved

We do not gild gold. We do not paint rubies. We cannot brighten diamonds. Neither can any artist add any final touch to this finished Word of God. It stands as the sun in the sky and this proud age can add nothing to it. It has the glory of God and any attempt to improve it can but disfigure it. It speaks with authority and breaks upon you as the Voice from heaven. Five hundred times in the Pentateuch, three hundred times in the following books and twelve hundred times in the prophets, the declarations are prefaced or concluded with such expressions as “Hear the Word of the Lord”, or “Thus saith the Lord”. No other book dares thus to address itself to the universal conscience. No other speaks with such a binding claim or presumes to command the obedience of all mankind. The Book speaks to the inner conscience with the authority of God Himself.

Historically Christians Have Been Skeptical Of Literal Readings Of Scripture

    The True Bible

For an altar boy, Easter Sunday was the closest thing you had to the Super Bowl. The Mass was longer. The rope belt you wore was fancier. Everyones clothes were nicer. Even the chalices and trays, freighted with their divine payloads of wine and wafer, seemed heavier. While suiting up for Easter Mass, my little hands would shake with game-day nerves.

Being an active participant in the Mass is like being an actor in a play. In fact, the pleasure and pain we derive from ritual feels interestingly similar to that which we derive from watching plays and other performances, as certain Christians have been aware for centuries. In his Confessions, for example, Augustine writes of the theatrical shows of Carthage, where he lived: Why is it that a person should wish to experience suffering by watching grievous and tragic events which he himself would not wish to endure? What is this but amazing folly? Augustine regarded drama, which he loved before his conversion, as a travesty of genuine religious experience. But what if the drama-lovers experience is, too, real and transformative?

    What Is A Deuteronomy : 6 Prayer

Almighty Father, thank You for always being there for me in times of need. Help me to be strong and courageous as I face new challenges. Let me be more aware of your presence so I can trust in you all the days of my life, this I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Trusting in God as our true source of strength is what drives believers to go forward. The situation around you may not look like it. You may look small but you have a God that is bigger than that problem. We may sometimes feel abandoned by other people, God will never abandon you. He will never leave nor forsake you.

It was not the five stones that David used to kill Goliath, neither is it his strength that propels the stone that pierced through the head of Goliath. It is God working behind the scene with David that gave him the victory.

Take heed and Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

How Do We Know The Bible Is True

The best-selling book in history remains one of the most controversial. Revered by Christians as God’s holy Word, the Bible spans centuries of history, contains a variety of literary styles and culminates in the person of Jesus Christ. But how do we know the Bible is true? Isn’t it just a collection of stories and myths? Even if it contains some history, is there any way we can trust it completely?

    Faith And Believing In God

There are many arguments we could use to support the existence of God. Some of these ideas are better than others. At the end of the day, we know that God is real, not on the strength of the rational arguments we put forth, but on the way God has revealed himself in nature and in a special way through his Word, the Bible.

That stated, Christianity is a rational world view. Apologetic arguments prove at least that. And we know that it is more than rational, it is true. We can see Gods work in creating the universe. Gods existence is the most rational explanation for the original cause behind everything. And the vast, infinitely complex design we observe in nature speaks to an infinitely wise Creator.

We dont hang our theological hats on apologetic arguments, but they can be helpful to demonstrate the rational Christian understanding of God. Where we hang our hats is the Bible. And the Bible, while making no arguments for the existence of God, begins and ends with the existence of God. In the beginning God

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
