Praising God Even If He Doesnt Heal
Just because God can heal you does not mean God will heal you. Sometimes Gods will is for you to go home to Heaven. Only God knows as He alone has the full picture of whats going on and can make the correct decisions. Many times God does not heal because the problem with your body is not as important as the problem with your soul.
When we are sick, we are less likely to have the energy to sin but have a deep desire to seek God for healing. God wants this connection. For many, He knows that connection will not come if they are healed, and there is still work to be done in the spirit. Even if our body does not heal, the greater plan could be unknown to us, and we need to have faith that God has a plan for our good .
Look at Luke 17:11-19 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, Jesus, Master, have pity on us! When he saw them, he said, Go, show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus feet and thanked himand he was a Samaritan.Jesus asked, Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner? Then he said to him, Rise and go your faith has made you well.

Luke gives his account of the sermon on the mount in chapter 6 of his Gospel. It was not uncommon for Jesus to be surrounded by large crowds, especially when He was giving teaching sessions. Wherever Jesus is, the power of healing is also present. The people in Capernaum and surrounding cities had learned this and were determined to be in his presence at all times.
This is still true of Jesus today. Wherever He is, the power of healing is also present. Like the multitudes, we should live in the posture of trying to touch Him.
We should reach out to heaven in prayer, study, reflection, and our daily lives. If we want to be healed, we have to go where the healing is happening. We have to go to God and present our cases to Him. He is willing and able to save us as only He can.
What If God Doesnt Heal
There are times when God decides not to physically heal a person. When this happens, the following must be remembered:
- We must continue to trust in Gods power, love, and goodness for us. He has already granted us the miracle of eternal life and that is what we really need.
For the wages of sin is death, while the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- We should not blame ourselves or the sick person. We must submit to the will of God because there are things that we will not understand while we are in our human body.
Now we see indirectly and veiled, as in a mirror But then well see eye to eye Now I know imperfectly, but then I will know as I am known.
- Remember that Gods thoughts are different from ours and what he most wants is to give us that which helps us in our spiritual growth.
Because my thoughts are not yours, nor are your ways mine, says the Lord.
- Not resist Gods will but strengthen ourselves in him and rest in his promises.
Because thus says the Almighty Lord, the Holy One of Israel: «In repentance and calm is your salvation, in serenity and trust is your strength, but you do not want to recognize it!

The Type Of Healing Jesus Desired More Than Anything
The Bible has a lot to say about God as healer of the sick:
Exodus 23:25 says, You shall serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you.
Psalm 103:2-3 says, Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases
Isaiah 53:5 says by His wounds we are healed.
In addition to these verses, the gospel accounts are littered with examples of Jesus healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, and even raising the dead.
These verses make it clear that our God is a healing God. The One who created the universe and weaved our bodies together knows exactly what ails us and has the power to heal us. And He does heal .
My purpose for this post is to put physical healing in the context of Gods overall purpose for us . Unless we understand this purpose and see healing in its proper context, we might chase after temporary fixes instead of focusing on our much greater problem.
Part of Jesus earthly ministry did involve healing the physically sick, but temporary, physical healing dulls in comparison to His purpose to heal humanitys spiritual sickness .
This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, what the Bible says is of first importance .
Spiritual healing through the Gospel is so much more important than physical healing anyway, so we should want Isaiah 53:5 to refer to spiritual healing!
What does this mean for us practically?
1. Preach the gospel.

They received according to their faith.

God is willing to heal even the most hopeless situations. Hes willing to upset the norm to do it as well. The story of Jesus healing the crippled woman in Luke 13 is evidence of these facts. For eighteen years, this woman suffered not just physical pain but from judgment and scorn.
The holy men around her were of no help to her, and they treated her poorly. Jesus, on the other hand, stepped into her life and treated her with love. He saw her condition, but he also saw her.
This is encouraging news to anyone struggling with illnesses and addictions that have formed their identity over time. People may no longer see you as you want them to. Instead, all they can see is the sickness.
There is still hope for healing in Jesus. Whether its been eighteen years, thirty years, or fifty years. Whatever your weakness, illness, or disease, Jesus can remove it from your life and bring you back to full health.

Jesus’s healing is for today just as much as it was when he walked the earth and performed miracles of healing the sick and disabled.
