Where To Read In The Bible When You Feel Lost

A Prayer For The Single Woman Who Feels Alone

How Do I Read the Bible? | Word Bites | Anthony Wade

Lord God, I need your help! I feel so lost and afraid. I often feel tired and disillusioned, not knowing what to do and how to overcome the loneliness that eats at me. Father, please help me stand strong. Help me believe your words about me and stand in your truth. Remind me that you will never leave nor forsake me, neither will you shut me out of your presence.

Thank you for loving me despite all my faults and foibles. May I continue to bask in your love and know that your grace is forever sufficient in me and your power flows through when I am weak.

Father, today, I will take a step towards wholeness and joy. I will enjoy the moments and not allow fears and lies to stop me.

In Jesus name, I have prayed. Amen.

Books Of The Bible To Reread : 1 John

God used 1 John to lead me to Christ when I was eighteen years old. As I read these verses, the Holy Spirit brought them to life, and suddenly the gospel became clear to me: “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” .

When we need a reminder of God’s love for us, 1 John encourages us with its many affirmations of His amazing love. In just five chapters, John touches on themes of light, victory in Christ, fellowship with God, forgiveness for our sins, and assurance of eternal life.

Come All Who Labor And Are Heavy Laden

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light .

Jesus gives rest to those who are crushed by the weight of the world. He is gentle and lowly in heart, and he doesnt rebuke those who find themselves laboring under the overwhelming yoke of depression.

Come to Jesus in your depression and find rest for your soul. Let him carry the heavy end of your burden. Confess your utter weakness and frailty and let him be the burden bearer.

Bible Verses To Help You Find Hope When All Seems Lost

Pin on Prayer

Have you ever got to that point where you reached your wits’ end? If you did, then you know how it feels to be hopeless.

Losing hope is probably one of the most dangerous things that could happen to us, whether we are believers or not. God knows this so well that He sent His one and only begotten Son so that we could always have hope â hope for forgiveness, for redemption, for reconciliation with the Father, for salvation. Truth be told, if the Father didn’t give His Son, we are utterly helpless and hopeless to save ourselves from our sin.

The Bible tells us that “Christ in is the hope of glory.” Because we have Christ in ourselves, we have this hope that no one or nothing can ever take away. Yet despite this, some of us face difficult situations where we feel hopeless. Be encouraged to know that in Him, you can have hope no matter what.

Are you praying to the Lord for hope when everything seems lost and going down the drain? Here are some Bible verses you can read and meditate on.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 â “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 â “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.””

Books Of The Bible To Reread : Philippians

When life gets us down and joy all but disappears, Philippians encourages us to look beyond our circumstances and find joy in Jesus Christ. In just four chapters, Paul mentions joy or rejoicing sixteen times in fact, simply remembering that Paul wrote this joyful letter from a Roman jail reminds me that maybe my life isn’t as bad as I think. If he could say, “Rejoice in the Lord always,” surely I can too .

I also appreciate this guidance on how to handle worry and anxiety: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” .

Bible Verses About Depression And Anxiety

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Psalm 143:7-8 Answer me quickly, O Lord! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit. Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Matthew 1: 26 Its Possible Even When It Doesnt Feel Like It

Jesus looked at them and said, With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

Matthew 19:26 NIV

Discouragement is strong. If the enemy can convince you that something is impossible, then he wins. It will get you to stop trying.

Maybe youve been trying to lose weight for years and cant seem to get the scale to budge. Maybe youve been praying for your marriage for years and you dont see God at work. Maybe youve tried and failed so many times, you just cant convince yourself to get back up and try one more time.

Whatever it is, its possible.

Our God is a God of miracles. Not just miracles that happened in the past, but miracles that happen today, all around us. Ask, seek, knock. Lean into His strength.

If youve tried 100 times, try 101.

Giving up entirely is the only way to fail.

Scriptures For When You Feel Lonely

Pin on Bible verses

We have all, at one time or another, felt a deep sense of loneliness.

And in such moments, its easy to believe the way we feel is unique to us and no one will understand.

In such moments we may feel rejected and alone.

This is often heightened in the lives of single women. The feeling of being alone and unloved, of being forgotten and not wanted.

This can have such a debilitating effect on our worth and identity.

And the worst part is that it is not an easy area to discuss. We may feel shame and fear, which barricade us from reaching out for help and support.

There have been studies which showthat this current generation of young people are probably the loneliest, even though they are the most connected through social media and the internet.

This has been especially hard due to the pandemic and social distancing rules.

We may be talking to people all day but still feel unseen, unknown, and unloved.

Have you ever felt this way?

Have you ever cried out to God asking for how long your life will be like this? For how long you will continue to feel lost and alone?

You probably have and I need you to know that you are not alone in this fear and shame. You are not alone in the emotions coursing through you.

More so, I need you to know that there is a way out.

We have a God who is close to the brokenhearted, and he is able to bring joy and meaning into our lives.

Books Of The Bible To Reread : Isaiah

Like many Old Testament prophets, Isaiah can be challenging to read because of its strong words of judgment against disobedience and sin. Yet it also gives us a beautiful picture of God’s holiness, majesty, compassion, and His plan for redemption. Isaiah offers powerful words of encouragement and comfort, like these: “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” .

Amazing Grace: A Vocabulary Of Faith:

This book is an intense, wise, beautiful redefining of religious language. Because its organized by terms instead of by chapters, its easy to dip in and read on just one.

This book played a defining role in my own faith changes, and hers continues to be a voice that helps me to disentangle the culture behind faith language with the true beauty of it.

Beth Moore on How to Handle Your Spiritual Coming-of-Age

This is a new book, just out this year, but I love the creative way that Kelly approaches prayer. This isnt a dip-in kind of book, but you can definitely read one chapter at a time, and each one has unique, beautiful exercises to get you approaching prayer in different ways. As someone who has always struggled mightily with prayer, the playful, creative, faith-filled way that Kelly writes about it is inspiring.

The Lord Hears Your Cry

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles .

When you are sunk into the valley of depression, it feels like you are totally and completely alone. Like no one cares, like no one is listening. You feel isolated, cut off, and like God has abandoned you.

But has not, and could never abandon you. When you cry to him for help, he hears and delivers. Maybe the deliverance wont come tomorrow, but make no mistake, it will come. God does not leave his people to wallow and blunder their way through depression and hopelessness.

He hears every cry you utter, sees every tear that rolls down your cheek. You are not alone. You have a good Father who is with you and for you.

Deuteronomy : 8 Youre Not Doing This Alone

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid do not be discouraged.

Deuteronomy 31:8

One of the lies we often believe when we feel stuck is that we are alone in this.

Nobody else understands how hard this is. Nobody else has been in this situation. Nobody else feels my pain. No one gets it.

God promises that He will never leave you or forsake you. Just because you are going through a tough time doesnt mean He has abandoned you.

God is with you, always!
