Whom Shall I Fear

You hear me when I call You are my morning song Though darkness fills the night It cannot hide the light

Whom shall I fear

You are my sword and shield Though troubles linger still

I know who goes before me I know who stands behind

The God of angel armies Is always by my side

The one who reigns forever He is a friend of mine

The God of angel armies Is always by my side

My strength is in your name For you alone can save You will deliver me

I know who goes before me I know who stands behind

The God of angel armies Is always by my side

The one who reigns forever He is a friend of mine

The God of angel armies Is always by my side

And nothing formed against me shall stand You hold the whole world in your hands Im holding on to your promises

You are faithful

Nothing formed against me shall stand You hold the whole world in your hands Im holding on to your promises

You are faithful

I know who goes before me I know who stands behind

The God of angel armies Is always by my side

The one who reigns forever He is a friend of mine

The God of angel armies Is always by my side

I know who goes before me I know who stands behind

The Strength Of My Life

In this verse of Scripture in Psalm 27:1, the Psalmist asks the questions Whom shall I fear? and Of whom shall I be afraid? He can ask these questions because he has made the LORD his light, his salvation, and the strength of his life. We can do that as well.

Take time to seek the LORD daily in His word. Draw near to His promises, put trust in them, and let fear take its place in subjection to the God of Peace.

Gods Command To Fear Not

God says Do not fear hundreds of times throughout the Bible. But what does that mean? Was my 7th-grade-self sinning? Are you wrong to feel fear when youre not sure how to pay next months rent or when you get that dire health diagnosis or when your job is on the line?

No. Youre not wrong. God wired our brains to experience fear. It is a primary emotion. There is a reason and purpose for our fear as we respond to triggering stimuli. When God says, Do not fear he is not commanding us to shut off a part of our brain. His model citizen isnt an emotionless and stoic robot.

The real issue God wants us to wrestle with is where we go when we fear. Where do you go with your fears? How do you deal with them?

Simply put, God wants us to come to him. Fear can paralyze us. Yet when we fear in the presence of God, God help us take the next step of faith even in the midst of our fear! Unfortunately, no one will be able to escape fear in this sinful and broken world. It is real. It can be paralyzing. It is powerful.

But God is more powerful.

He has the power and desire to be with us in the midst of our fears. Remembering this will enable to us to take the next step of faithfulness in our lives. How? Because God is with us. We can continue to fight to believe Jesus is more in and through our fears thanks to his presence with us.

Breaking Down The Key Parts Of Psalm 2: 1

Scriptures On Comfort (Comforting Bible Verses)

#1 The Lord is my light Our Father in heaven sent his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the light of the world . The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light . God is the light for our path, he is the light of truth, and he is the illumination of our salvation.

#2 and my salvation We do not trust in might or wealth, or any manifestation of our own strength to save us. We surrender to God and put our faith in his perfect Son. Our ultimate salvation from our sin and from the wrath of God for sin is reflected in the myriad ways God saves us from harm every day.

#3 whom shall I fear? If the Christian feels afraid, he can rest assured that his fear is not from God, and is unnecessary. God is sovereign. Nothing can happen apart from his will and his good plan, and he watches his children , never slumbering .

#4 The Lord is the stronghold of my lifeof whom shall I be afraid? A stronghold is a fortress with high walls. Fortresses can be breached, but if God wills to protect us, he will protect us. Man can take care to build a fortress and walls, as did David, but he knew that apart from the protection of God, those walls will fall. Those who are in Christ and live according to his purposes need to fear nothing and no one.

King James Bible Translation

  • The LORD is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid?
  • When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
  • Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
  • One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
  • For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me he shall set me up upon a rock.
  • And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.
  • Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
  • When thou saidst, Seek ye my face my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.
  • Hide not thy face far from me put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
  • When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
  • Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
  • Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
  • Bible Verses About Fear

I just came out of a week that I was battling some serious fears and anxieties. I desperately needed to hold on to what Gods word says about fear, and focusing on bible verses about fear made all the difference.

Life can be hard at times. We all struggle with different fears, and when I had kids so many new fears surfaced. The imaginations that come with possible scenarios can really be a challenge.

My oldest son just had a major scare with his heart, and we thought he possibly had a serious heart condition that would cause a major life change. When I first heard the news, fear overwhelmed me. I thought about how he wont be able to play the sports he loved, and how we would get through a heart surgery. I decided not to spend an entire week making myself sick, and worrying all day about what the possible tests would say.

I needed to trust in the God of the universe, and ask Him for His peace. I knew that focusing on specific bible verses would be a big help, but sometimes its hard to know exactly where to look in hard times. So, I hope when you feel overwhelmed by fear, you can save this post as a reference.

    Psalms 27:1

the Lord the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid? meaning not of his natural life, though he was the God of his life, who had given it to him, and had preserved it, and upheld his soul in it but of his spiritual life: Christ is the author of spiritual life, he implants the principle of it in the hearts of his people, yea, he himself is that life he lives in them, and is the support of their life he is the tree of life, and the bread of life, by which it is maintained and he is the security of it, it is bound up in the bundle of life with him, it is hid with Christ in God and because he lives they live also and he gives unto them eternal life, so that they have no reason to be afraid that they shall come short of heaven and happiness nor need they fear them that kill the body and can do no more nor any enemy whatever, who cannot reach their spiritual life, nor hurt that, nor hinder them of the enjoyment of eternal life.

Explanation And Commentary Of Psalm 2: 1

Pin by Debbie Netterville on Scripture

Penned in a time of distress, David reaffirms his faith in his God, strengthening himself by the strength of God. Having trusted the Lord, he has seen first-hand on many occasions the faithfulness of God towards those whose hearts are fully devoted to him . God helped him slay the lion when his sheep were under threat . God helped him slay the giant who defied Gods armies, and the Philistines, the king who wanted his head, and all other opposition.

The only true threat to David was his own weakness. When his heart was steadfast, there was simply nothing to fear. For the Christian, we have such a hope that we can trust God in any and every circumstance. When times are good, we can thank God and trust him to always provide and protect us, remembering we have nothing that he has not given us, even when what we have is by the grace of God to bless the work of our own hands. When times are difficult, we thank God, and we trust in him who is sovereign and does absolutely everything for our good. As stewards of what is given, we seek to use what God has provided to live according to his will, and trust him for the results of righteous living.

When we are in need, the Lord is our salvation. When we are full of his abundant blessing, the Lord is still our salvation. God has promised to bless us, we have only to look to him in faith. One thing we must not do, is fear, for the Lord is the stronghold of my life
