God’s Plan Is For Our Good

All Things Work Together For Good? (Romans 8:28) | Darrell Johnson

“In one thousand trials it is not five hundred of them that work for the believers good, but nine hundred and ninety-nine of them, and one beside.” –George Mueller

For good reason, Romans 8:28 is a favorite verse of many. In fact, some consider this to be the greatest verse in the entire Bible. If we take it at face value, it tells us that nothing happens outside of Gods plan for our good. That’s a tremendous promise to stand on when life doesn’t feel so good. That’s a solid hope to hold on to through the storm.

Of suffering and adversity, the great “Prince of Preachers” Charles Spurgeon said, Most of the grand truths of God have to be learned by trouble they must be burned into us with the hot iron of affliction, otherwise we shall not truly receive them.

Our life in Christ is based on Gods good purposes, and that includes suffering:

“For as we share abundantly in Christs sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.” 2 Corinthians 1:5

We share in these sufferings because we share Christ and because we live in a fallen world ruled at the present time by evil forces that are opposed to God and his purposes.

God doesn’t allow disaster or permit evil randomly. Joni Eareckson Tada, who became a quadriplegic after a skiing accident, said, “God permits what He hates to achieve what He loves.”

All Things Work Together For Good Romans : 28

Weve all heard All Things Work Together for Good. And that makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside. But what does this quote from Romans 8:28 mean in our lives today? In this devotional, well read this popular scripture and learn the true meaning behind it.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28 NKJV

A Promise For Our Good

Romans 8:28 is a promise that rang true for Dr. Ward, as it has been true for Christians throughout history.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

The Living Bible translation words it this way: And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans.

The Apostle Paul wrote the book of Romans, which many consider to be the most rich theological treatise in Scripture. He begins chapter 8 by discussing the differences between living by the Spirit and living by the flesh. He points out that living by the Spirit makes us sons and daughters of God.

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are Gods children. Now if we are children, then we are heirsheirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Romans 8:16, 17

Then Paul compares the sufferings that we face in this life with the glory that will be revealed in us . He entreats us to wait patiently and to trust that the Spirit intercedes for us when we dont know what to pray for.

James : 12 We Must Remain Steadfast At All Times

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him

Trails and temptations are the foundation of this sinful world. The devils work is to cause suffering and pain. James, an apostle of Jesus Christ, reminds us to remain steadfast.

Christ has promised us the crown of life, and we must set our eyes on the prize of eternal salvation. This means we must never look back when tempted but remain steadfast and persevere until the end. If we do this, then we are sure of Gods promise.

How Does God Work All Things Together For Good

Romans 8:28 All Things Work Together for Good

God Work All Things Together for Good using both the good and bad circumstances to work for the wellbeing of those who love Him. We must realize that some things we call evil might happen in our lives but God has promised that He will make a way of escape for us.

If we love God, He will always protect you. I Corinthians 10:13 says, There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Take note that the stress, torment and despair are a way of pruning us. Acts 5:40-42 stated, The others accepted his advice. They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go. The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus. And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: Jesus is the Messiah.

When we love, trust and have faith in God, we will not focus on the happenings around us.

For one to enjoy electricity that will power our TV so as to enjoy our favourite movies or sport, or to power our fridges and freezers that will preserve our food from decaying and also give lightnings to our houses so that we dont hit our foot against harmful objects, we need both the positive and negative terminals.

Is There A Romans : 28 Prayer

Here is a Prayer based on Romans 8:28 for you: Father, thank You for Your assurance to work out all things in my life, both pleasant and unpleasant for my good. Grant me grace to have confidence in this promise during difficult times. Help me to look ahead of what You have reserved for me. Amen

If God is all powerful, then His in control of ALL situations and challenges. Nothing occurs without His consent. Things happen so that we can know Him more, run to Him and rely more on Him. Thereby, making all work for our good so we can be like Him.

As Christians, understand that we must suffer all sort of things but we must have the confidence that God will work it out for our good. Knowing that whatever tribulation we experience here is temporal, for a short while. It cannot be compared to the glory that awaits us. Romans 8:18

God is not angry with you if you are a true Christian. He will make all things work for our good. Even if the situations are not to your advantage, His desire is to unleash appropriate grace into our lives so that we can partake of the good on the other side of the intense suffering.

Romans : 28 The Incredible Reality Of This Well

Do you really believe that all things work together for good to those who love God? Read here to test yourself!

Paul’s words in his epistle to the Romans are among the most well-known and most quoted in the Bible: And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28.

Let’s read it again: We know that all things works together for the best , for those who love God. Everything that we meet in life, everything, without exception, works together for our best. It couldn’t be written more clearly, but superficiality causes us not to see it. We, quite simply, cannot read properly. And we’re not interested enough either we don’t take the time.

But if we believe in this verse, then the verse in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 is also fulfilled: In everything give thanks In everything that is good give thanks ? That’s not what’s written. It says: In everything give thanks. Both bad and good. That’s how thankful you’ll be, if you believe in Romans 8:28. It’s also written, Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4. This isn’t possible without believing in Romans 8:28.

He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him. John 14:21.

All Things Work Together For Good: Romans : 28 Explained

Posted on Last updated:

There are many scriptures in the Bible that inspire us in times of trouble.

One famous bible verse that motivates us is Romans 8:28 All things work together for Good for those who love God.

These words only become meaningful if we have absolute faith in God.

That is, when you are filled with so much pain through faith, you are undeterred.

About three years ago, I met a young lady who already had five children All girls.

She and her husband have already lost hope of ever having a male child.

Then, suddenly, despite using contraception, she got pregnant.

They were both Christians and understood what it meant to have an abortion.

Nevertheless, at this point, they do not want another female child in their home.

So, I encouraged them to keep the pregnancy, and reluctantly, they agreed.

And then came the d-day She gave birth to a male child.

They both came back to thank me and were so filled with joy.

What if she had an abortion?

Thats how God works.

When we go through afflictions, we should not feel deserted.

At all times, we must be patient .

The prophet Isaiah said,

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

Paul, in Romans 8: 28-29, said

This bible verse teaches us the mindset of our God in heaven.

Most notably is the phrase to them that love God.

Romans : 28 Meaning And Commentary

All Things Work Together for Good Romans 8 28 Part 1

And we know that all things work together for good

“for ever let a man be used to say, all that the Lord does, , “he does for good”.”

that love God a character, which does not agree with all the sons and daughters of Adam: love to God is not naturally in men it is wrought in the soul in regeneration, and is an evidence of it it grows up with faith, which works by it without it, a profession of religion is vain and where it is once wrought, it lasts for ever it ought to be superlative and universal, constant, warm and ardent, hearty and sincere: such who have it, show it by a desire to be like to God, and therefore imitate him, by making his glory the supreme end of their actions by being careful not to offend him by delighting in his presence, in his people, word, ordinances, ways, and worship and by undervaluing the world, and all things in it, in comparison of him who is to be loved for the perfections of his being, the characters and relations he stands in and bears to his people, and on account of the love with which he has loved them, and which is indeed the spring and source of theirs. They are further described, as such

Assurance Of God’s Care For Christians

The assertion of providence in Romans 8:28 is specific and directed only to Christians. God rules over everything and everyonebelievers and unbelieversbut his oversight is different in the case of believers. To themand them onlyGod’s providence works “for good.” The unwritten logical implication is that providence confirms the blessing of some and the doom of others. For those “who love God,” providence is directed to achieve “good.” Who are “those who love God”? They are “those who are called according to purpose.” The promise is given for those who are “called” by God into fellowship with Jesus Christ. Writing to the Corinthians, Paul addresses them as “the church of God that is in Corinth, . . . those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints” . We could equally render the final phrase “called to be holy” or even “the holy called ones.”

Third The Importance Of The Verse Following Romans : 28

For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers .

A wise Bible teacher once told me, God allows everything into our lives for one of two purposeseither to bring us into a relationship with himself or, if we already know him, to make us more like His Son.

My friend Billy was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 35. Billy played college baseball, married his sweetheart, and fathered two handsome sons. Convinced of the truth of Romans 8:28 and 29, he chose to believe God had a good plan for his bad cancer.

Because Billy believed God could use even something as destructive as a brain tumor, he responded in faith and trust. Even though this is not what I planned for my life, he told his family, I trust God to use it for good. His unshakeable faith and peace were so profound that church leaders asked him to share his story at a mens event.

Billy agreed. Then he invited his younger brother, Jack, to go with him. Jack had never accepted any of Billys invitations to go to church, but this time, he said yes.

When Billy finished telling his story, the pastor invited attendees to come forward if they wanted to know how to have a relationship with God. Jack was the first person out of his seat.

Ive always thought Billys faith was a crutch, Jack said, but watching him go through three surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation made me realize what he had was real. And I wanted it.

God Works All This Together For Good

If we abide in God and continue to recognize His sacrificial love that Jesus, His son, poured out on us, then we can rest assured our purpose is secure in God. ALL THINGS that happen can work together for good. Jesus gave His life for us. God lavished us with His love, even if that meant giving up His son for us to live eternally with God.

For He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love, He predestined us to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Himself, according to His favor and will, to the praise of His glorious grace that He favored us with in the Beloved .

Our purpose is not in this world but in God. If we remain in God, remain in His love, then we know that all things will be for our good.

So writes John Piper in his book, Future Grace. – “Nothing can blow you over when you are inside the walls of Romans 8:28. Outside of Romans 8:28 all is confusion and anxiety and fear and uncertainty. If you live inside this massive promise, your life is more solid and stable than Mount Everest. Outside this promise of all-encompassing future grace there are straw houses of drugs and alcohol and numbing TV and dozens of futile diversions. There are slat walls and tin roofs of fragile investment strategies and fleeting insurance coverage and trivial retirement plans. There are cardboard fortifications of deadbolt locks and alarm systems and antiballistic missiles. Outside are a thousand substitutes for Romans 8:28.”

And We Know That All Things Work Together For Good

Romans 8:28 Poster All Things Work Together Bible Verse Quote Wall Art ...

There is a sense of security in knowing.

Imagine a loved one who leaves the house early in the morning for work but forgets to take his or her cell phone. Then, unbeknownst to you, your loved one is asked to stay on the job for an extra hour or two. You are worried sick about your loved one! But when the person finally arrives home and walks through that door, the concern vanishes, and you breathe a sigh of relief. You know he or she is safe.

Knowing brings comfort and peace, but not knowingliving in the unknownmakes it all too easy for doubt, fear and worry to creep in.

For that reason, it is worth noting that Paul did not say we think or we hope.

On the contrary, we can knowbe certain, surethat all things work together for good.

But what things was Paul referring to?

He explained a few verses earlier, For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us .

Primarily, Paul was talking about the sufferingsthe trials, problemsthat we deal with in life.

Without a doubt, our world is brimful of all kinds of problems. There are relationship problems, marriage problems, financial problems, health problems, mental problems, self-esteem problems, work problems and school problems. The list could go on and on.

The point is that Paul understood suffering as well as anyone. If there was any person who had reason to wonder whether or notall things work together for good, it was Paul.
