Bible Verses For New Believers

Why Do We Call Them The Romans Road Scriptures

Unboxing the New Believers Bible

When the Romans came to power, they built stone-paved roads that reached out to all of the Roman empires. The Romans roads connected the population of the world like never before and mankind was able to travel freely. These roads were so durable that many of them still stand today.

In the same way that the Roman roads gave a sure path for travelers of that day to get to their destination, the biblical Romans Road Scriptures give us a roadmap of how to get to heaven.

Here are the foundational Romans Road Scriptures:

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 3:10

There are 7 things that we can glean from the Romans Road Scriptures:

  • No one is righteous
  • Every single person has sinned
  • No one can measure up to God glory.
  • We all have fallen short
  • Sin equals death and separation from God, but God has made a way of escape which is eternal life through Jesus.
  • Jesus loved us so much that He died for us.
  • If you call upon Jesus asking for salvation, He will save you.

PERSONAL DISCOVERY GUIDE

Seek God For Peace Philippians : 6

In this world, its hard to find peace. Shocking reports in the news, dysfunctional relationships, unexpected tough circumstanceseverything around us conspires to rob us of peace. Its easy to give in to fear and anxiety but Paul tells us how we can guard our hearts and minds and find His peace .

When new believers learn to seek God first , they will find in Him all they need, including His peace. Jesus said He would give us His peace, which is not like the worlds fleeting and imperfect sense of peace . When we focus on Godwhen our minds are steadfastly fixed on Himwe will find His perfect peace .

We are not to be anxious in our journey, but to pray with thanksgiving and guard our thoughts and choices. We must transfer all our fears over to our ever-present God and dwell in His peace, not our fears .

Bible Verses For New Christians 12 2 Corinthians : 21

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

At the heart of the Christian message stands a great exchange. Jesus took our sins upon himself and gives his perfect righteousness to us. For the person united to Christ by faith, we no longer stand before God dressed in the shreds of our own sins, but robed in the perfect life of Christ. This simple verse helps us understand, rejoice over, and explain this good news

Identifying Goals For Spiritual Growth: 3 Basics For New Christians

Basic Bible Truth for New Believers

Where do I start? How do I continue growing in Christ? Whats next?

Those types of questions are incredibly common for newer Christians. After all, even spiritually mature Christians have them from time to time. And one of the beautiful parts of this is how the fundamental aspects of spiritual growth dont change, regardless of your spiritual maturity.

Here are some of the basics for new Christians you can stress throughout the mentoring process. Make sure youre on the same page with people as you start meeting with them. And then, as the relationship progresses, you can follow up with them on the same topics to see how theyre doing and offer more advice or perspective.

Guide: A Pastors Guide To Mentoring New Believers

The opportunity to mentor new believers arises after one of the most joyous moments in a persons life. When someone comes to Christ, its cause for celebration throughout heaven and earth as the Word of God makes abundantly clear.

In the first of three consecutive parables from Jesus on the topic, a shepherd leaves his flock of 99 to find the lost one. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, Rejoice with me I have found my lost sheep’ Jesus said. I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. .

The next parable examines a woman who has 10 silver coins but loses one. She looks carefully for the coin, and when she has found it, asks her friends and neighbors to rejoice with her, just as the shepherd did in the first parable. In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents , Jesus said.

Each parable reinforces how God the Father embraces the lost. It speaks to His deep, perfect love and the redemption available through Jesus sacrifice .

Building A Loving Relationship

In addition to teaching spiritual things, we must also share our lives with new believers, being open and honest about the good and bad as well as what God is teaching us. Get together and do fun things. Go shopping, play video games or go out to lunch. When you become someone’s friend, you show who you are and that it can be fun to be a Christian.

I met five times with a college student, Kristi, to go over the basics of Christianity. But our weekly meetings were difficult because she was so shy. When Kristi still hadn’t gotten involved with a Bible study that I was leading, I took her out to lunch to reconnect with her. This was the best time we had all semester. She saw that I cared about her and wanted more than just to share spiritual things. The second semester, Kristi came to the Bible study almost every week.

Paul mentions that he is like a spiritual parent to the new believers: “But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children” . We, too, can be like caring parents for new believers watching over them, nurturing them, encouraging them, correcting them and keeping them accountable.

Verses About Being Christs Disciple

I encourage all of us to memorize Scripture.

Matthew 6:33But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Luke 9:23And he said to all, If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Acts 1:8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

2 Corinthians 4:5For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus sake.

Confidence In Your New Relationship With Christ

You can be confident in your new relationship with Christ because you have been completely forgiven and accepted by God. Only Christs death on the cross is sufficient to provide this proper relationship with God.

Read Ephesians 2:8-9 . What is declared in these verses?

Three important words in these verses explain the basis of our acceptance before God:

GRACE: Unmerited favor, an undeserved gift

QWhat role did grace play in establishing your relationship with God?

AYou didnt deserve this relationship nor did you earn it by any good works. Rather it is a free gift from God that you accepted when you received Christ through faith.

SAVED: Rescued, spared from disaster

QWhat do you think this verse means by saying you are saved? From what are you rescued?

ARomans 6:23 says that the final result of sin is death. When you received Christ, you put your trust in Christ and his death for your sin. You have been rescued from death and eternal separation from God.

FAITH: Belief, trust, commitment of mind, attitude, action

QWhat does faith have to do with receiving Christ?

ASimply put, faith is believing or trusting God and his Word. When you received Christ, you put your trust in Christ and his death for your sin. Instead of believing in your own ability to earn Gods favor, you must now trust that you have been reconciled to God through what Christ has done for you.

Bible Verses For New Christians 9 Romans : 23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

In this succinct statement the Apostle Paul reminds us that if we stand before God with only what we have done we will experience death. However, God holds something out to us we could never earn- eternal life. This verse exalts the grace of God and reminds us of the futility of trusting in our own goodness.

Bible Verses For New Christians 6 Matthew 2: 18

“And Jesus came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'”

Matthew records these last words from Jesus. Speaking to his disciples before he ascended into heaven, Jesus commanded them to take the Gospel to every nation on earth, baptizing those who believe and teaching them to obey Jesus’ words. As we read, study, and memorize the Great Commission, we remember that we are called to join Jesus in his mission so that more people might become his disciples.

Passages For New Christians

In light of this, I put together a list of passages for young or new Christians to memorize so they would grow in their understanding of the character of God, the work of Jesus, salvation by faith alone, and the basics of the Christian life. We need to focus on these issues early in the Christian life because if we just start learning Scripture’s commands without understanding who God has revealed himself to be and the heart of the Christian message we will develop an unhealthy view of what it means to live as a Christian.

When memorizing these verses, work on learning them for the long haul and not just to check them off of a list. Learn them thoroughly and accurately, then develop a system for reviewing them so they stay fresh in your mind. As you learn and review these verses, meditate on them, take notes on them, and pray through them. You will find that committing Scripture to memory, studying it, meditating on it, and praying through it will give you aid in trial, temptation, discouragement, and evangelism opportunities.

If you are a new Christian, young Christian, or have never memorized Scripture, these are the first 15 verses and short passages I would commit to memory.

Essential Steps To Start Someone On The Road Toward Christian Maturity

Greg Laurie Introduces the New Believers Bible NLT

Imagine that you’re about to be a parent in 9 months you’ll have a child.

You’re excited and scared and want to learn everything possible about parenthood. So you read books, decorate the nursery, ask people for advice and prepare for the big day.

When that day finally comes, you go to the hospital, and after many hours, the baby is born. High fives. Cheers. You call your family.

And then you decide to leave the baby at the hospital.

If you did this, everyone would think you were crazy and a bad parent. Yet spiritually, we often have the same approach to new believers in Christ. We put so much energy into bringing them to Christ , and then we stop. In a sense, we leave them at the nursery.

But when a person accepts Christ, our work is only just beginning. The first few years and even the first 24 hours are vital in establishing a new believer’s walk with the Lord.

The process of helping a new believer grow in his faith is often called “follow-up.” During this time, new believers can begin to grow in maturity and learn to become multiplying disciples Christians who help others come to Christ and grow in their new faith.

Here are a few essential elements to guide you in helping new believers grow.
