I have written these bible study for kids kids since I started in teaching kids church . Each lesson plan includes clear goals and targeted learning activities for Childrens Church. I try to include relevant activities, childrens church games, Bible crafts, childrens Bible stories, or other material that will help you teach. Hard Work Brings Rewards

In an age of microwave dinners and get-rich-quick schemes, the work ethic of our children is lost somewhere between getting allowances every week from their parents and having their smartphones paid for them as teenagers. Im not saying that paying things for your kids is wrong by any stretch, but parents must also help kids learn the value of hard work as expressed in 2 Thessalonians 3:10: For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.

Know That You Dont Need To Have All The Answers

Relax and know that you dont need to have all the answers. My four-year-old son asked one evening, Daddy, if Eve had eaten from the tree but not Adam, would all people have fallen? What a great question! But it didnt feel like it at the time, because I wasnt ready. I didnt know the answer on the spot. And you know what? That was alright. His faith wasnt dashed, his spiritual life wasnt stunted, and his respect for me wasnt diminished. I could simply say, I dont know, son. That is a fabulous question. Can I do some research and answer your question later this week? His little four-year-old mind was thinking through an issue I never had. That is a blessing in disguise! You dont have to know everythingno parent does, no matter who they are. We are all theologians in process. Each of us seeks to grow in biblical knowledge. And many times, our children press us towards that growth.

God gifted his word to his people. It is a means of grace, not a burden.

    Keep Your Eyes On Jesus

Above all, teach your children the Bible with your eyes on Jesus. We want them to fall in love with our Savior. All our teaching has this as its purpose. The goal isnt for them to win a Bible quiz contest or look the best in Sunday school. We long for them to cherish Christ as we do. Yet, we cant force it. We cant make it so. We cant guarantee it. All we can do is teach what we know in the best way we know how and leave their souls in the hands of our trustworthy Father. I often pray for the children in our church, Father, make our children your children. Keep your eyes on Jesus, even as you seek to point their eyes to Jesus.

Iii Principles For Working With Expository Narrative And Poetic Material

How to Teach Your Kids to Study the Bible

The examples we are using in this lesson are taken from three of the predominant genres2 in the Bible: expository writing, narrative literature, and poetry. We need to comment on these briefly in order to help you work with and teach these various genres.

    A. Expository Materials

The epistles are expository letters sent to various churches to further them in their understanding of God, Christ and his work, the Spirit, and living honorably for God. They are decidedly not stories, though they make frequent reference to stories from the Old Testament . They are didactic, expositional writings whose meaning is direct and, compared to most narrative, on the surface. They lend themselves to outlines much more easily and are concerned with communicating raw ideas. Note: there are times when expositional material appears in the context of narrative, such as John 1:1-18 and the many didactic discourses of Christ in the gospels. They must be related to the entire narrative, but treated as expositional material. Also, it is to be noted that there is a fair amount of poetry in the various expository letters of the New Testament.

    B. Narrative Material

The bottom line is: when teaching a story from the Bible, help the people in the audience identify with the characters in the story, especially the ones who are good examples to follow. Help them to live it, as if they were there when it happened. Thus, recreation is of the essence in teaching narrative material.

    C. Poetic Material

How to Teach Your Children the Bible // How We Teach Our Children the Bible

Easier said than done, right? We all instinctively know we need to do this, but it can be hard! Here are a few tips:

    • Be gracious to yourself when your quiet times falter , and dont let guilt keep you from coming to Jesus, even if its been a month since youve cracked a Bible. Start now, where you are.
    • Be with Jesus during the day, while the kids are there. Pray out loud for your needs. Talk to Jesus when theyre listening. Read a verse out loud. You can learn while they learn.

Using A Toddler Bible To Teach About God

Since I do still consider myself young in my walk, I wasnt sure where to start when it came to teaching my children about God and the Bible. There are so many stories I personally still dont know, so much that I am still learning, and so much that I still ask and learn about each day.

I knew that in order to really help my children, I wanted to make sure that we were using a biblically-based toddler bible. I was so thrilled when I got the chance to review the Beginners Bible with my 3 and 1-year-old.

I had been eyeing this bible up for a while and was immediately drawn to the bright colors and vivid images and I knew my children would be too. The excitement was high when they got to open the box and see the new bible just for them.

If youre looking to incorporate the bible and start teaching your children about God and Christianity, I think this bible is the perfect one to start with. The pictures draw their attention, the stories connect with them, and the length of each chapter is long enough to tell a story while short enough to have them keep still and listen.
