In Doctrine and Covenants 68:25â28 , the Lord gave us strict instructions concerning our patriarchal responsibility. He commanded us toâ
1. See that our children understand the first principles of the gospel.
2. See that our children are baptized at eight years of age and receive the âlaying on of the handsâ for the companionship of the Holy Ghost.

One of the first thing we see the Bible say about mothers is that motherhood was Gods idea. Within the creation narrative we know God created male and female. One of the purposes for creating members of the opposite sex was for procreation.
