What Does The Bible Say About God

People Committed Suicide In The Bible

What does the Bible say about God?

Let’s begin by looking at the seven accounts of suicide in the Bible.

Abimelech

After having his skull crushed under a millstone that was dropped by a woman from the Tower of Shechem, Abimelech called for his armor-bearer to kill him with a sword. He did not want it said that a woman had killed him.

Judas

After he betrayed Jesus, Judas Iscariot was overcome with remorse and hung himself.

In each of these instances, except that of Samson, suicide in the Bible is presented in an unfavorable light. These were ungodly men acting in desperation and disgrace. Samson’s case was different. And while his life was not a model of holy living, Samson was honored among the faithful heroes of Hebrews 11. Some consider Samson’s final act to be an example of martyrdom, a sacrificial death that allowed him to fulfill his God-assigned mission. Whatever the case, we know that Samson was not condemned by God to hell for his actions.

There Is Only One True God And We Must Worship Only Him

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery you shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them…

One day, a religious leader asked Jesus which of the commandments was most important:

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'”

The Hebrews of Old Testament times tended to lapse into worship of pagan deities and statues of animals or other objects, but anything that takes the place of our devotion to God becomes an idol or false god. Jesus particularly singled out love of wealth as a false god ” rel=”nofollow”> Matthew 6:24 ), and other Bible passages mention greed, covetousness, arrogance, gluttony and pride as being equivalent to idolatry. In today’s world, many things compete against God for our devotion. These are some of the things that can become modern-day idolatry if we let them become more important to us than God and His commandments:

What If I Don’t Know How To Pray

The Holy Spirit will help you in prayer when you don’t know how to pray:

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

What Does The Bible Say About Temptation

The temptations we face are no different than those faced before us. In Corinthians, it tells us God is faithful, and he will not let us be tempted beyond what we can withstand. It goes on to say that he will provide an escape so we can endure. Sometimes this may just be that little voice in your head that tells you that you shouldnt do this, that it is wrong. The more you yield to this, the easier it will be.

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

Cant avoid temptation, but can Overcome it

I once heard it said that you cannot avoid temptation, but you can overcome it! Do not feel discouraged and dismayed when you continue suffering from temptation. There will always be a temptation. But, with the help of the Holy Spirit, you can continue to overcome that temptation. The more you turn from it, the easier it is to overcome it.

Stop Yielding to Temptation

The more you yield to your temptations and sin, the easier it is to continue to sin, and the harder it is to come out of it. Remember, it may be hard, but its not impossible. It is better to go through some pain for a little while than to be a slave to your addiction until it eventually takes your life in one way or another.

What does the Bible say about remaining steadfast under trial?

What Do Jehovahs Witnesses Believe

world says, but God says

Jehovahs Witnesses believe that the Bibles moral code is the best standard for living, and they choose to abide by that code. This means that Jehovahs Witnesses reject all sexual misconduct, including homosexuality. That is the Witnesses lifestyle choice, and they have a right to it.

Jehovahs Witnesses strive to follow the Golden Rule by treating others the way they themselves would like to be treated

At the same time, Jehovahs Witnesses strive to pursue peace with all people. While they reject homosexual acts, Jehovahs Witnesses do not force their view on others, nor do they participate in homophobic hate crimes or rejoice when they hear of them. Jehovahs Witnesses strive to follow the Golden Rule by treating others the way they themselves would like to be treated.Matthew 7:12.

Real Meaning Of The Favor Of God

David speaks about the favor of God frequently in Psalms. For example:

“For you will bless the righteous. Yahweh, you will surround him with favor as with a shield.”

In context, David is making this statement while experiencing hardship. He is talking about his enemies who have sinned against him, and when he speaks of God’s favor, he is talking about what Paul says in Romans 8:28: “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.”

God defends his righteous against the evil intentions of others, promising to defend them spiritually against the powers of this world. The concept of favor in Psalms 5:12 has nothing to do with being successful in life, becoming wealthy, or having favoritism with God.

These verses in Psalms, in their context, are communicating this idea of being defended from evilwhen the word “favor” is used.

“For his anger is but for a moment His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, But joy comes in the morning.”

In the context of Psalms 30:5, David has sinned by being prideful , which has brought evil and bad situations into his life as a consequence . However, David repented and is acknowledging that God can restore him by removing the evil and troubles from his life. Again, the concept of favor has nothing to do with success or finances. It is favor against evil. Remember when David said, “you will surround him with favor as with a shield.”

Biblical Examples Of God Communicating Through Dreams

Of course, this article cannot dive into every instance of dreams in Scripture. However, it will highlight a few instances of dreams and why the matter:

  • Joseph : You cannot discuss Joseph from Genesis without diving into dreams. Granted, most of the time he spent interpreting dreams , but he did have a dream of his own before he entered Egypt . These dreams hinted that Josephs family would bow to him in the future. This comes to fruition when they come to him for food during a great famine. In essence, the dream had a purpose to foretell the future.
  • Daniel : Like Joseph, he often interprets dreams rather than has them, but in Daniel 7 he witnesses a terrifying dream of four beasts. Theologians have attributed each beast to a certain kingdom . The dreams served to show events and kingdoms to come.
  • Joseph :Joseph, Jesus father, sees an angel in a dream who warns him to flee to Egypt before Herod can take the life of his son . This dream served as a warning.
  • Pontius Pilates wife :When Jesus stands at trial with Pontius Pilate, his wife warns Pilate against having anything to do with him, because she knows of his innocence . The dream informed her about the true nature of Jesus.

This article shows all the dreams in Scripture and the meaning behind them. Dreams often employ symbolism to teach a lesson, divulge elements of the future, or help us discover more about God.

God Will Restore And Strengthen

Never lose hope. Peter says after we have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called us to his eternal Glory, will Himself, restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. God will restore you. Have the faith in His word to believe what He promises us. Stand firm on His promises. God is one person you dont have to worry about breaking His promises.

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you

1 Peter 5:10

What About Bad Choices

What Does The Bible Say About God? Who Is God?

We all make bad choices in life yes, some worse than others. But God is a master at working all things together for good , a promise for all who truly love God. Gods plan for us is not health, wealth, and happiness, though we may receive these blessings. His desire for us is to be conformed to the image of his Son, , and as the Westminster Shorter Catechism question one teaches, that we glorify God and enjoy him forever.

What Does The Bible Say About Narcissism

2 Timothy 3:2-6

What does the Bible say about narcissism? What are the signs of a narcissistic person according to the Bible? And what Scriptures will God use to expose a narcissist in your life?

What is a narcissist according to the Bible? The definition of the word narcissist is not in the Bible, but throughout Scripture we are given warnings about selfish and arrogant people. A narcissist is someone who loves themselves most of all. They believe they are the center of the universe and no one else matters. A narcissist is worshiper of themselves.

But a narcissist is usually very manipulative and conniving, thus they can be very hard to spot at first before they show their true narcissistic personality.

So here are 16 signs God is trying to warn you about a narcissistic person in your life.

1. A Narcissist Will Have Crazy Mood Swings Which Are Used as an Attempt to Control Others

The reason narcissistic people are so emotional and unstable is because they have learned to use their emotions, like anger and sadness, as a weapon to control other people.

These types of people do the opposite of what we are taught in James 1:19-20, . . . let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

2. A Narcissist Uses the Severest Form of Judgment on Others While Demanding the Strongest Form of Grace from Others

A narcissist wants all the mercy but doesnt want to offer any to others.

What Does The Bible Say

One of the most powerful passages that reveals the sovereignty of God is Isaiah 46:9-11:

Remember the former things of old

for I am God, and there is no other

I am God, and there is none like me,

and from ancient times things not yet done,

saying, My counsel shall stand,

and I will accomplish all my purpose,

the man of my counsel from a far country.

I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass

I have purposed, and I will do it.

Will Pandemics Ever End

Yes. The Bible foretells a time in the near future when no one will be sick. Under the rule of his Kingdom, God will cure all health problems. He will do away with suffering, pain, and death. And he will bring back to life those who have died so that they can enjoy good health here on earth under perfect conditions.Psalm 37:29 Acts 24:15.

What Does The Bible Teach About Vaccines

One Thing God Never Said {And 5 Scriptures Of Truth}

Obviously, the words vaccine and vaccination arent found in the Bible. These are modern medical concepts that were used and popularized way back in the 1940s.

The Bible is specifically silent on the use of vaccines. It does not promote or prohibit its use. However, this does not mean that we should not do our part in exploring the pros and cons when it comes to vaccinations.

The Bible tells us:

Test all things hold fast what is good .

We also need to be like the Bereans . Though it was the Scripture that they were studying, we can also apply the same principle when it comes to examining what others are telling us.

Some Areas That Addiction Affects

Drug and alcohol addiction affects major areas of the brain as noted in this snippet of an article below:

Drugs and alcohol affect three primary areas of the brain: the brain stem, the limbic system, and the cerebral cortex. When substances enter the brain, they interfere with its normal processing and can eventually lead to dramatic changes in the neurons and brain circuits changes that can still be present even after an individual has stopped taking drugs.

  • Brain imaging technology has demonstrated that addiction is a brain disease by delineating profound disruptions in the specific brain circuits affected by addiction. Repeated drug exposure resets these circuits toward compulsive behavior so that a persons control over the desire to seek and use drugs is compromised, despite devastating consequences.
  • Changes from addiction go beyond the brains reward system to include regions involved in memory, learning, impulse control, stress reactivity, and more.
  • Genes account for about 50 percent of a persons risk of becoming addicted, and environmental factors influence the effect of these genes.

Even In My Darkest Hour I Will Sing I Will Praise Because Your Word Is True: About Praising God

One of the most important keys that will make it possible for us to walk in kingdom living is our expression of praise. The Lords prayer begins in an attitude of worship and praise, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth . Praise is the will of God, and heaven overflows with it.

And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. Revelation 19:5-7

In Everything Give Thanks

Since the presence of praise is voiced continually in heaven, our voices should also be lifted up in praise to our Lord. In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 we are told to, Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. The Lord tells us here that we are to have an attitude of joy, thanksgiving and prayer at all times, no matter what the conditions or circumstances are that surround us.

The Blame Game

Sacrifice of Praise

David in writing the Psalms expresses many praises to the Lord. Psalm 34 is a typical psalm of praise:

Healing and Deliverance Through Praise

Why Does This Matter

If people are experiencing visions and dreams today, it may fulfill what Scripture says about this happening more frequently in the Last Days.

However, ultimately, it shows us God is still speaking to those unreached by Scripture.

God Disciplines You To Help You Learn Because He Loves You

What Does The Bible Say About Religion – Do Many Paths Really Lead to God?

My child, dont reject the LORDs discipline, and dont be upset when He corrects you. For the LORD corrects those He loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom He delights.

Though people often associate discipline with punishment, this verse shows us that Gods discipline is more about training and teaching. That is why Jesus followers were called disciples, or people who follow a teacher.

When you follow Jesus, you become His disciple. In the process of learning from Jesus, some lessons will be hard or even feel like punishment. But God is not out to punish you or hurt you. He is trying to teach you. Your choices have consequences, and God usually allows you to experience those consequences. Facing hard things and overcoming them is one of the best ways to learn.

Dont let yourself get dragged down by hardships or isolate yourself from God and others. Instead, turn to God for help and discover what He is teaching you in the process.
