What Does The Bible Say About Patience

Benefits Of Being Patient

What does the Bible say about patience?

I dont know about you, but sometimes its really difficult to be patient. When I attended Bible College, I lived in the city of Chicago in the USA. There was a certain time of day that I dreaded drivingrush hour. There was nothing rushed about it! Traffic was at a dead standstill. A drive that would normally take 20 minutes ended up taking closer to an hour or more.

But through driving in standstill traffic I learned the importance of using my time wisely instead of complaining.

  • I used the opportunity to spend time with God. It was during those times that I had some of the best times praying in my life.
  • I began actually listening to and thinking through the music I heard on the radio. The commute gave me a good opportunity to think about how the music affected my thoughts and attitudes and whether it was building me up in my faith.
  • I found the opportunity to let my mind reflect on the day. What was good and bad about my day? How did I treat my friends? Was I living the way Jesus wanted me to?

In many ways, Im thankful for the long commute. It helped to instill principles in me that I have learned to incorporate into my life still today. Patience can do that for you, too.

What Makes A Man Fall Deeply In Love With A Woman

Men who fall in love with woman fall in love with both the passion and purpose that she feels for life, and the passion and purpose that he feels in life when he is with her. When a man falls in love with a woman, he becomes filled with passion, and the more passion he feels, the more love that he feels.

Patience Is One Of The Fruits Of The Spirit

You need patience when things arent going your way. You need patience when that boss gets on your last nerve. You need patience when youre running late to work and the driver in front of you is driving like a grandma and you just want to scream at them in anger.

We need patience when we know someone has been slandering us and sinning against us. We need patience when debating matters with others.

We even need patience when we are teaching others and they keep on getting off track. We need patience in our everyday lives. We have to learn how to let go and let God work in us to calm us. Sometimes we have to pray to the Spirit for help with patience for dealing with a certain situation.

1. Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

2. Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

3. 1 Thessalonians 5:14 And we urge you, brothers, to admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.

4. Ephesians 4:2-3 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, accepting one another in love, diligently keeping the unity of the Spirit with the peace that binds us.

5. James 1:19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

How Can I Learn To Be Patient

Learning to be patient is one of lifes hardest struggles. Regardless of where you are in your Christian walk, it can be a daily struggle.

Whether you are dealing with financial issues, health issues that are affecting yourself or family members, being patient isnt always an easy task.

However, as Christians, patience is something that we must develop. We must learn to be calm and reserved in the face of hardship. We have to learn to draw our strength from the Lord.

Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10

In life, there have been times I have been tested to where I thought I couldnt go on. I struggled with my faith and really questioned Gods reasoning and Gods timing.

I didnt understand why I was dealing with certain situations as in my mind I had done and was doing everything right and trying to live according to Gods teachings.

Patience Is A Skill God Teaches

What does the Bible say about patience?

Patience is something that many have difficulties with because they live in a fast-paced world that works on a schedule. They also struggle with patience because they must have patience even when they think others do not deserve it.

For example, when the restaurant has taken too long to bring your food, and yet you can see your waitress talking on her cell phone, you have the need for patience.

The Bible helps us understand patience. Romans 5:3-4 says, And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance and perseverance, character and character, hope. This tells us that tribulations produce perseverance, or patience.

James 1:2-3 says, My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. Here we see that the testing of our faith also produces patience.

Almost everything that produces patience is a situation that we would rather not go through. Some say, I wish God would hurry up and teach me patience so I can get on with it.

God is not so much trying to teach us patience as he is trying to get us to understand that patience is his nature. Patience is a part of who God is in dealing with us. God is patient and kind to us.

Producing patience is easiest when we make a choice to slow down. We must make a conscious choice to slow down the processes that are going on in our minds, wills and emotions.

We Will Face Temptations

If you are going through a tough patch in life, remember that its all part of the game plan.

The scripture is clear that we will all face different kinds of trials

And thats why we always pray to our father not to lead us into temptation.

But he has promised in numerous scriptures that he will also create a way out.

God doesnt forsake those that ultimately put their trust in him.

He is faithful and keeps every of his word.

So, if you are hurt, unhappy, angered, or hated by those around you, you must remain resolute in your faith.

We all need to nourish our faith with the word of God.

In times of difficulties, we can encourage ourselves and let go of our pain through his word.

So, whatever your trials are today, God will come to your rescue.

The scripture says,

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

They will come, but we must be prepared for them

We can ask God not to lead us to temptations

And if you are facing serious challenges, we can ask God for a way out

God hears prayer, especially the prayer of the righteous

So, dont be idle. Be faith-driven and put all your challenges in the hands of God

Is it your workplace? Or your failing health?

There is nothing God cannot do

I am a witness that God answers prayers.

How Can I Be Patient When I’m Hurting

Even though we can develop our patience through trials, it’s definitely not an easy thing to do. Nobody really enjoys being hurt or sufferingespecially for what may seem like pointless reasons. In the Bible, James uses the prophets as an example of having patience in the face of suffering. He talks about Job and how his faith in God’s compassion and mercy remained strong even after he had lost everything . Abraham, too, waited patiently until he was an old man and eventually “received what was promised,” a son .

Our best example of patience through trials is in the life of Jesus. He put up with a LOT of pain, suffering, bullying, and general torment. But in the end, as He hung painfully crucified, an innocent man, Jesus still showed patient endurance and was rewarded: “Who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” .

God willing, none of us will ever have to suffer in the way Jesus or Job did. And hopefully none of us will have to wait until we are 90 or 100 years old to have children like Sarah and Abraham . But in this life, we will still face troubles , and patience will help us get through those. Patience will make us stronger every time we choose to put it into practice.

How Can I Be More Patient

What does the bible say about PATIENCE – with Pastor Walter Spivey Jr.

Take a breath! And maybe close your eyes for a few seconds and count back from ten. It can be tough to focus on patience when we’re hopped up on anger or a sense of wasted time, so giving yourself a couple seconds to remove your brain from the frustrations can help a lot. Every situation is going to be different, so don’t let yourself get frustrated if you’re having a hard time. The point is to keep trying. Here are some steps to take when you start to feel the anger of impatience coming on:

  • GIVE THANKS. This might seem like a weird first step since our first, natural reaction is to ask God, Why me?! But the Bible tells us to rejoice in God’s will for our lives . That means that we trust His timingeven when His timing means we have to wait.
  • LOOK FOR GOD’S PURPOSE. If we have confidence in God’s timing, then that means we can be assured that He has a purpose for making us wait and be patient. Maybe He’s giving us an opportunity to talk to someone nearby, expressing His love to a stranger. Maybe He simply wants to strengthen your patience, which will grow that spiritual fruit and bring Him glory through your actions.
  • REMIND YOURSELF: God wants the best for you! Romans 8:28 tells us that “all things God work for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” All those “things” include all the annoyances and frustrations that try to suck away your patience.
  • And remember to breathe!

How You Can Grow Patience In Your Life

Now, you dont have to be stuck in Chicago traffic to learn the benefits of patience in your life. Lets look at some steps below to begin incorporating the virtue of patience in our lives. Here’s a few steps you can take, wherever you may be:

  • Read through and reflect on the following passages: James 1:2-4 Romans 8:18-25 12:12. Ask yourself: What do these passages have to say about patience? How is patience connected to suffering and hope?
  • Think about areas where youre struggling with patience in your life and jot those down. Then, think about how lack of patience in those areas might be keeping you from loving God and loving others. If you find that impatience is keeping you in a constant bad mood or from loving God and others, confess it to the Lord.
  • Begin looking for ways that you can use your time wisely instead of complaining about having to wait. Look for ways to fill your life up with a positive outlook regarding your circumstances.
  • Consider unplugging for a while from electronics and spend some time in solitude.
  • Again, theres nothing magical about these steps. Our goal is to find ways that we can move closer to Jesus through the fruit of the Spirit.
