God Will Answer Our Prayers But

Powerful Prayers In The Bible
Prayer is powerful! Fortunately, it has nothing to do with our spiritual strength but with Gods unlimited power. Here are a few examples of powerful prayers that are recorded in the Bible.
James 5:17-18 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
2 Kings 20:10-11 And Hezekiah answered, It is an easy thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees no, but let the shadow go backward ten degrees. So Isaiah the prophet cried out to the Lord, and He brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.
John 11:41-44 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me. Does Prayer Physically Aid Us
As great as the spiritual benefits are from prayer, there have been studies that show there are physical ones as well. Admittedly this is not my area of expertise, but here is information from a 2009 study:
A 2009 study by Koenig and colleagues found that six weekly in-person Christian prayer sessions with patients at a primary care office lowered their depression and anxiety symptoms and increased their optimism.
Because God understands fully all the benefits of prayer, it is no surprise that he would encourage us to do it. It is why verses like this make more sense.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you .
As these patients continued in prayer, their anxieties and worries were lowered. This happens because in prayer, they transferred their anxieties from themselves to God and allowed him to carry them.
In prayer God is not just concerned about your need, he is concerned about you as well. Part of the reason God desires you to pray is because he knows it is good for your health. The things you let go of and give to God are not only good for your spirit, but they are also good for your body and mind too. This is a power of prayer that we most certainly overlook.
Know To Whom You Are Speaking
Prayer is a conversation with God, and every conversation begins by addressing the person to whom you are speaking by name. Jesus begins with Our Father in heaven. He focuses on a distinct person the Heavenly Father with whom he has a personal relationship. We share the same right to call God Father, and there are times when we need to talk with our Abba Father, Daddy God. But God is three distinct persons in One: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
I find it helpful in my prayer times to focus on which of the Holy Trinity I need to talk to. Often I talk to Jesus, the friend who is closer than a brother and the Savior of my soul. Other times I cry out to the Holy Spirit, who fills and empowers me to do the tasks Father God has called me to do. Having a distinct sense of who I am speaking to helps me formulate what I want to say and how I want to say it.

Bible Verses About How To Pray
Prayer is simply communication between us and our Heavenly Father. The Lords Prayer is a great outline for us to use to structure our prayers. Jesus used this outline, according to Lukes gospel, to teach His disciples to pray.
The Lords Prayer begins with a call to honor Him.
Matthew 6:9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in Heaven Hallowed be Your Name.
Next, we are encouraged to prioritize His will over our own will.
Matthew 6:10 Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Guess what? Its perfectly fine to ask God to help meet your physical needs.
Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Its about to get real in our prayers. We get to the point in the prayer where we ask for forgiveness for our sins. This is also a time where we willingly, and intentionally forgive others.
Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
The world is getting darker and darker. We need Gods mercy and grace to keep us on the narrow path. When we pray, we need to ask Him to keep us from evil.
Matthew 6:13 And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.
Finally, we can finish our prayers with a time of praise, adoration, and thanksgiving to our King.
Matthew 6:13c For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Prayer Humbles Us Before The Lord
Prayer acknowledges that we are not God. Prayer helps us to focus on who He is and helps us to understand that He alone is God. Prayer helps us to understand our dependence upon God.
Prayer should be the most natural thing in the world but because of the fall, it feels alien and often times difficult. How far we are from the holiness of God. How far we have to grow in our sanctification.

The Theme Illustrated: Elijah Was A Righteous Man Whose Prayers Accomplished Much
Elijah had taken on almost legendary status among the Jews in James day. By all accounts, he was an impressive man! He marched in before the wicked, powerful King Ahab and announced that it would only rain by his word, and his word came true! He was miraculously fed by the ravens during the drought. He miraculously enabled the widow of Zarephaths flour to be replenished throughout the drought. He raised her son from the dead. He called down fire from heaven to consume his waterlogged sacrifice in front of the 400 prophets of Baal. Then he ordered the execution of them all. Later, he called down fire to consume two groups of soldiers sent to arrest him. He parted the Jordan river to walk across. His final act was to be taken to heaven without dying in a chariot of fire. Thats the stuff legends are made of!
A man like Elijah could be more of a hindrance to my prayer life than an encouragement, because I could think that hes in a totally different league than I am. Thats why James says
A. Although righteous, Elijah was a man with a nature like ours.
B. Elijah was a man who lived in ungodly times, but his prayers affected the entire nation.
C. Elijah could pray as he did because he knew the living God.
D. Elijah prayed earnestly because he recognized his own inadequacy in the face of powerful enemies.
Experience The Power Of Prayer
Have you experienced God? Most Christians minimize the power of prayer because we have a low view of the omnipotence of God. If we grow in our realization of who God is and what prayer is, then I believe we will see a change in our prayer lives.
God mercifully brings about His eternal decrees through the prayers of His people. Prayer changes people and events and stirs the hearts of believers. Dont give up in prayer! Dont fall in discouragement and think it doesnt work. Keep seeking God! Keep bringing your petitions to Him.
