Bibles Importance and Influence in American History and CultureAmong the exhibits in the Dunham Bible Museum is a collection of original leaves from rare and historic Bibles printed in the Colonies and the United States during the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries. Collected, carefully framed, and described by noted book collector Michael Zinman, the exhibit provides an excellent survey of the printing history of the American Bible. Besides Zinmans descriptions, the collection includes a preface on The Bible and American Culture, by Mark Noll, which follows.

Nations Small And Great Described In Bible Prophecy

Several midsize and smaller nations, such as Egypt, Jordan and Libya, are identified clearly in the Bible. So does it makes sense that the greatest single nation of our time or the greatest community of nations would be left out?

Many events now in the past were laid out in advance in the Bible. God’s prophets accurately foretold the rise and fall of great empires and nations, and sometimes specific kings one after another. Many prophecies, including those dealing with the United States and other major English-speaking nations today, were spoken and written down thousands of years before their fulfillment.

Prophecies make up a fourth to a third of the Bible. But why are the scriptures that identify the United States and give advance news of its future not widely taught or understood among Christians today?

A primary reason is that the key to understanding the most sweeping prophecies has gone largely ignored. It can be found in the first books of the Bibleespecially the book of Genesis.

Quotes Regarding Church State In America

“If the liberties of the American people are ever destroyed, they will fall by the hands of the CATHOLIC CLERGY.”

In the book Confusion Twice Confounded, Monsignor Joseph H. Brady states that the U.S. Supreme Court is wrong in decisionsregarding seperation of Church and State. He says: “A sound view of the Constitution in its relation to religion probablyawaits a change in personnel in our highest tribunal.”

During the Reagan administration, President Ronald Reagan, after much pressure, appointed an ambassador to VATICAN CITY!When W. Kenneth Dan was asked why we need an ambassador in Vatican City, He replied “It would allow the USA to influencethe political decisions of the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH!”

HOLY OFFICE STILL EXISTS

“But Constitutions can be changed, and non-Catholic sects may decline to such a point that the politicalproscription of them may become feasible and expedient. What protection would they have against a Catholic state?”

“The Catholic Church in this nation must live on to accomplish her work, even though our Republican form ofgovernment disappears.”

REMEMBER! It is the earth beast that calls the people of the world to form an “image to the beast”, ie, an image ofthe Papal Church/State entity that is the Roman Catholic Church. It’s coming!

America In Bible Prophecy

On this page you will not only find out that America is in Bible prophecy, but also that America will be the mainnation to bring on the mark of the beast and cause the world to take it. In Revelation 13 we have two beasts. One that rises up out ofthe sea, and one that rises up out of the earth. And it is the ‘earth beast’ which ’causes the world to take the mark of the beast’.So for this earth beast to be able to cause the world to take the mark of the ‘sea beast’, it needs to be a global superpower.

“America is not only the first, as well as the only, truly global superpower, but it is alsolikely to be the very last.”

Even though there have been world empires before like Babylon and Rome, Mr Brzezinski is talking about the fact that America is exercising powertruly all over the world, which is what the earth beast does in Revelation 13. There is only ONE nation on earth that appears on the world stage “lamb like” but ends up “speaking as a dragon”, and has the power andinfluence to cause the rest of the world to take the mark of the ‘sea beast’ – And that nation is AMERICA!

Are There Prophecies Of America

Pin on Christian Quotes
There are actually no definitive Scriptures about the U.S.

There are some denominations that teach that the lost ten tribes of Israel still exist today in the present day nations of Europe and North America. For example, several churches teach that the descendants of Ephraim are in England, the descendants of Manasseh are in America, the descendants of Dan are in Denmark, and so on. These tribes were actually taken captive by the Assyrians and absorbed into their nation and eventually into other nations. Consequently, they lost their identity due to their disobedience of Gods laws and their national idolatry. Today, the descendants of the lost ten tribes are scattered throughout Europe and North America but the majority of them likely dont know that their original ancestors were from the House of Israel. They have completely lost their identity.

Modern Nations Represented In The Bible

We can identify the modern nations represented by the Russian bear, the German leopard with wings of a fowl, the French Rooster, and Daniels dreadful Fourth Beast, the last superpower on earth.

In modern times, the lion, the first Beast, is most clearly associated with Great Britain. The British Lion is universally recognized in the Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom and several national emblems, flags and British coins.

How To Read The Bible

The best way to get to know the Bible is to . Christians tend to do that regularly, both and together with other Christians, for example during . If you are reading the Bible for the first time, it is helpful to start right at the beginning, with the book of Genesis. But instead of continuing to read everything from front to back, I advise you to jump to the New Testament next to read about the life of Jesus. This provides you with a basic framework to understand the other Bible books. For more advice about reading the Bible, please read . If you are searching for particular Bible verses, to find them.

Why Bibles Given To Slaves Omitted Most Of The Old Testament

Museum of the Bible

The so-called Slave Bible told of Josephs enslavement but left out the parts where Moses led the Israelites to freedom.

When slavery was legal, its proponents often justified it with the Bible specifically, a verse that tells servants to obey their masters. There were also a lot of verses that abolitionists could and did use to argue against slavery. But you wouldnt find those in the heavily-redacted Slave Bible.

Most of the Old Testament is missing, and only about half of the New Testament remains. The reason? So that the enslaved Africans in the Caribbean islands of Jamaica, Barbados and Antigua couldnt read or be read anything that might incite them to rebel.

The Slave Bible was actually titled Parts of the Holy Bible, selected for the use of the Negro Slaves, in the British West-India Islands.

Its not clear who exactly directed these changes. British planters in the Caribbean had long been weary of missionaries, and couldve demanded that they only teach enslaved people certain parts of the Bible. But some missionaries may have also believed that it was only appropriate to teach enslaved people excerpts that reinforced their enslaved status.

Whoever the Slave Bibles editors were, theyre really highlighting portions that would instill obedience, says Anthony Schmidt, a curator at Washington, D.C. Museum of the Bible, which has a copy of the Slave Bible on display. There are only two other known copies.

Is America In The Bible

Why Is Brandy Called the âVocal Bibleâ??

Im in the middle of leading a Bible study through my church on the topic of America and the End of the Age. Last week was the introduction, and this week we looked at the question: Is America in the Bible?

If you are a believer, perhaps we can all agree that God has truly blessed America. Its independence was based on Christian principles. It is the wealthiest nation in history and is responsible like no other in regards to world evangelization. Our nation has also been a safe haven for the Jews and an ally for modern-day Israel. We have been a bastion of human rights and a leader in scientific and medical advancement.

Likewise, if you are a believer who holds true to Gods Word, we can also agree that America is now morally bankrupt in many ways, from adultery to abortion to homosexuality to a church that is increasingly more fat, lazy, and selfish.

So, is America in the Bible? I have found four schools of thought as to whether this is true. There are those who believe America is:

  • Vaguely referenced
  • Babylon the Great
  • Not mentioned at all
  • Since America provided a safe haven for Jews for centuries, some also believe that the eagle in Revelation 12:13-14 supports this viewpoint. The problem is, Scripture clearly states that the eagle is God. See Exodus 19:4 and Deuteronomy 32:11-12 for proof.

The Nation And Company Of Nations Identified

Jacob revealed that the descendants of Joseph would become two great peoplesbrother nationalities. Those descended through his son Manasseh would become a great people, while those who would come through his other son, Ephraim, would become a group or multitude of nations . Both would dominate the earth as no others in history.

Thus, through them would be fulfilled the earlier promise to Jacob of a nation and company of nations. But have the prophecies of Israel’s global greatness been fulfilled? Yesby two geopolitical powers on the world stage that have defined global greatness for the last two centuries.

Descended from Ephraim was the group of nations that formed out of the greatest empire the world has ever seen, the British Empire.

It ruled over five times the territory of the Roman Empire, and four times the number of people. Its territory encompassed almost a quarter of the earth’s population and surface, including many of its most fertile and productive regions. Meanwhile, the Royal Navy ruled the seas. Out of this power came the British-descended countries of the Commonwealth of NationsBritain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

From Manasseh came the great single nation. Its people dwelt with the Ephraimites in Great Britain until it was time for their separation through westward colonization and a war for independencethe American Revolution, by which came the formation of the United States.

    The Aitken Bible Of 1782

Robert Aitken emigrated from Scotland to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1769. He opened a bookshop and began The Pennsylvania Magazine, to which Thomas Payne often contributed. Starting in 1776, Aitken became the official printer of the Journals of Congress.

Aitken printed the New Testament in English in 1771, 1778, 1779, 1780, and 1781. Under the trade embargoes Britain had placed against the rebelling American colonies during this time, Aitken began to worry about Americans being able to acquire Bibles, which were previously imported from England.

On January 21, 1781, Aitken wrote to Congress,

To the Honorable The Congress of the United States of America

The Memorial of Robert Aitken of the City of Philadelphia, Printer

    Humbly Sheweth

That in every well regulated Government in Christendom, The Sacred Books of the Old and New Testament, commonly called the Holy Bible, are printed and published under the Authority of the Sovereign Powers, in order to prevent the fatal confusion that would arise, and the alarming Injuries the Christian Faith might suffer from the spurious and erroneous editions of Divine Revelation …

Though Congress did not fund Aitkens printing, it did authorize the project, and upon its completion, the two Chaplains of Congress approved Aitkens Bible. Thus, Congress officially declared its endorsement of the Aitken Bible, the first and only time Congress has ever endorsed a version of the Bible.

Israel At War With The Jews

Believe it or not, Israel went to war with the Jews or what is known as Judah. When the tribes of Israel split up into a Northern Kingdom and the Southern Kingdom , they became enemies and warred with each other. The Kingdoms of Judah and Israel had co-existed along a border for almost 200 years before they fought each other. What is interesting is that not all Israelites are Jews just as not all Americans are Californians. Judah split from the other ten tribes of Israel because the Northern Kingdom had begun to worship foreign gods while the Southern Kingdom remained more or less loyal to worshiping God. The term Jews does not appear until Israel splits and the word Jew is derived from the tribe of Judah and not the other tribes of Israel.

The Southern Kingdom was comprised of the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and the priesthood of Levi with their capital in Jerusalem. The Northern Kingdom consisted of Manasseh, Ephraim, Dan, Naphtali, and the remaining 10 tribes of Israel with their capital Tirza in Samaria. From the time that these tribes split into different nations, they would forever remain separate and be completely independent of each other. In 1 Kings 12:21 this is clear as Israel and Judah were often at odds with each other: When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he mustered the whole house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamina hundred and eighty thousand fighting mento make war against the house of Israel and to regain the kingdom for Rehoboam son of Solomon.

    History Of The Bible Belt

How do we know if the Bible is really true? Is the Bible really true?

The region known as the Bible Belt today was in the 17th and 18th centuries a center of Anglican beliefs. In the late 18th century and into the 19th century, Baptist denominations, especially Southern Baptist, began to gain in popularity. By the 20th century, evangelical Protestantism could be the defining belief system in the region known as the Bible Belt.

In 1978, geographer Stephen Tweedie of Oklahoma State University published the definitive article about the Bible Belt, “Viewing the Bible Belt,” in the Journal of Popular Culture. In that article, Tweedie mapped Sunday television watching habits for five leading evangelical religious television programs. His map of the Bible Belt expanded the region defined by Zelinsky and included a region that encompassed the Dakotas, Nebraska, and Kansas. But his research also broke the Bible Belt into two core regions, a western region and an eastern region.

Tweedie’s western Bible Belt was focused on a core that extended from Little Rock, Arkansas to Tulsa, Oklahoma. His eastern Bible Belt was focused on a core that included the major population centers of Virginia and North Carolina. Tweedie identified secondary core regions surrounding Dallas and Wichita Falls, Kansas to Lawton, Oklahoma.

Prophetic Fulfillment In The Last Days

When were these stupendous prophecies of national greatness going to be fulfilled? The Bible is very clear. Just before he died, “Jacob called his sons and said, ‘Gather together, that I may tell you what shall befall you in the last days'” . The promises of global greatness to the descendants of Joseph would occur “in the last days”the time leading up to the second coming of Jesus Christ!

The language in this prophecy shows that the blessings of burgeoning population, fabulous wealth, power and military dominance were to be fulfilled on a global scale.

Notice this prophetic description of Joseph’s descendants “in the last days”: “Joseph is a fruitful bough…his branches run over the wall…The arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the Mighty God of Jacob” .

God inspired Jacob to get quite specific about the characteristics to look for in the nations that would fulfill the promises made to Abraham, his grandfather. And the promise of national greatness would not be limited to the small corner of the world.

“The Almighty…will bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies beneath, blessings of the breast and of the womb. The blessings of your father have excelled the blessings of my ancestors, up to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills. They shall be on the head of Joseph” .

The Bible Is Unique And Authoritative

Despite all this diversity, the Bible is a coherent unity. This is possible because it is . The Scriptures are Gods revelation of Himself via human authors who were illuminated and guided by Gods Spirit. See for example 2 Peter 1:21 no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Since the real Author of the Bible is the infallible God, his Word is as well. This also implies that no ordinary human writing could ever Gods Word, and have as the Biblical books. The Bible is unique.
