What Does The Bible Say About The Last Days

Over the centuries, many have come and gone who have attempted to predict the coming of the Lord. All of these predictions have come to naught.

There is a certain fascination about the end of the world. We have seen it in the media, through movies and television even cartoon characters threatening to destroy the world or take it over in some form or fashion. The fear has always been that with the escalation of so called weapons of mass destruction that the world powers that be will eventually blow each other up. And while wars and rumors of wars are a definite sign of the times, there are many other things which signal the last days.

Title Authorship And Date

The name Revelation comes from the first word of the book in Koine Greek: á¼ÏοκάλÏÏÎ¹Ï , which means “unveiling” or “revelation”. The author names himself as “John”, but modern scholars consider it unlikely that the author of Revelation also wrote the Gospel of John. He was a Jewish Christian prophet, probably belonging to a group of such prophets, and was accepted by the congregations to whom he addresses his letter.

The book is commonly dated to about AD 95, as suggested by clues in the visions pointing to the reign of the emperorDomitian. The beast with seven heads and the number 666 seem to allude directly to the emperor Nero , but this does not require that Revelation was written in the 60s, as there was a widespread belief in later decades that Nero would return.

After 7 Years Of Tribulation

Seven years later, Jesus will come back to set His feet on earth and rule and reign over the nations and peoples of the world for one thousand years. In the seven-year period of time between the appearing of Christ in the clouds to take out all Christians and the time when He shall return to earth to rule for one thousand years, the terrible judgments and events described in the book of Revelation will transpire. The antichrist will gain ascendancy and will lead into sin the vast majority of the people who were left behind when Christ appeared in the clouds to take out all the Christians.

There are many events in the Near East and other places in the world that cause many of us to feel the stage is being set for the end-time events, which, of course, would include the rise of a worldwide ecumenical church, and the terrible divine judgment destruction. In the Revelation, however, the actual end-time events just mentioned cannot and will not come to pass until the rapture of the saints. The time of this glorious event is not known. The trumpet may sound and Christ may call out His saints anytime. It may be today, it may be tomorrow, or it may be many years from now.

He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

Key Beliefs Of Amillennialism:

· As Benware notes, amillennialism is somewhat of a misnomer. In fact, amillennialists do believe in a millennium, but think it has already begun and is identical with the current church age.

· They consider the millennium as the current spiritual reign of Christ on earth through His church.

· Even though they believe Christ is Lord over the earth in the present age, however, they have a pessimistic view of the present age.”

· They believe things on earth will only improve after Christs Second Coming, when eternity, and Christs full Kingdom, begins.

· Amillennialism is the most commonly held eschatological viewpoint in worldwide Christianity, since Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Episcopalians, and other denominations hold it as their official teaching.

· Amillennialism is also an old view of the end times, possibly emerging as early as the first century. It gained the most adherents during the Medieval period and was the main viewpoint of most Protestant reformers, including John Calvin and .

Revelation The Antichrist The Man Of Sin The Beast And 666

There are, of course, other important matters revealed in the Bible about these last days. The Man of Sin, the Antichrist, the many antichrists, the Beast, and other apocalyptic persons and images. These all remind us that the letters, e.g., 2 Thessalonians and The Revelation of Jesus Christ to the Apostle John, were written to real people facing menacing powers that threatened their lives, that threatened the Body of Christ in the world. The beastly powers of Statism with the dictatorial the .12 Each and all have meaning, to those under persecution then and now. The symbols move before us in Scripture like a reel on fast-forward. But the background is still and clear: He came. He’s coming again. The return of Jesus is the next great event in the unfolding drama of the ages. That is where we are today.

What Happens After The Tribulation

Jesus return will be magnificent.

When people mention the Rapture, they often mention the Tribulation but many Christians arent clear about its meaning. This period is very confusing as many arent sure what events actually take place during this time and how long it really is.

The Rapture is an end times event where Jesus Christ returns for His Church. According to the Bible, the event will be instantaneous, in the twinkling of an eye. While the word Rapture does not appear in the Bible, the event is described in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-44. The meaning or definition of Rapture is the idea that the coming of Jesus will take place in two separate stages.

During the Rapture, there will be signs of deception. There will be many people who will claim to be the Messiah and also claim to have the answers for a troubled world. In Matthew 24, Jesus gave a warning specifically for our generation. In this passage Jesus, speaking to us, warns us that false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even elect. These false prophets are not working with sleight of hand illusions. We must be on guard and ask ourselves who these sinister false prophets and messiahs are. The Bible warns us that these are no ordinary men. In the End Times, people will be crying desperately for leaders to deliver them, and they will seek mystics and religious leaders who claim to have deeper knowledge.

What Happens To Children Who Die

End Times Explained: Great Tribulation, Anti-Christ, Ascension of Christ, Mt.of Olives, Rapture

This is obviously a very tender subject to many people. Parents want to know: Will I see my child again? The place to begin in answering this question is with the observation that the Bible doesnt specifically address this question. However, we do know two things are true. First, children are not born innocent, but sinful. If children who die do go to heavenand I believe they doit is not because they are morally innocent in the sight of God. All of us are born with an inclination to sin that leads us away from God. Ephesians 2:1 says that we are spiritually dead by nature. That applies as much to young children as it does to adults. Second, we know that Gods grace is always greater than human sin. Romans 5:20 reminds us that where sin abounded, grace superabounded. Gods grace always goes far beyond sins disgrace.

I believe that Gods grace credits children with the merits of Jesus blood and righteousness so that children who die before they are old enough to believe are covered by His blood, and their entrance into heaven is made sure and certain. Thus they are saved by grace exactly as we are.

What Happens In Christianity When Someone Dies

As born-again Christians believing in the only god, the things Jesus spoke, the Holy Spirit, our citizenship is in heaven and we are even waiting for Jesus to return and take us home with Him . That is why you hear Christians talking of going home to be with the Lord. The world is not their home, they are only passing by. When Jesus returns to take us home, He will transform our bodies to be like that of His.

In 2 Corinthians 5:8, Paul said that being away from the body is being at home with the Lord Jesus Christ. When Christian dies, they go to be with the Lord. We are talking of Christians who are born again, and not those who attend church and have no relationship with Christ. It is important to make this distinction so that people dont fall into the deception of believing that attending church is enough to go to heaven when they die.

Jesus told the Jewish leaders who were persecuting Him that studying the Scriptures diligently would not give them eternal life. They refused to believe in Him, yet the Scriptures spoke about Him . This means that reading the Bible without accepting Christ is not a way to get to heaven. Having everlasting life from Jesus is what guarantees that when we die we will go to heaven. Jesus describes what happens when you die, described as being fallen asleep, the bible tells us that eternal life awaits the faithful. The Sinful await eternal punishment and an eternal Lake of Fire.

What Is The Battle Of Armageddon

The Battle of Armageddon marks the triumphant ending of the Tribulation period. It is the final battle between the forces of evil and good, with Jesus as the victor.

Six major powers are involved in the final campaign: the revived Roman Empire, the northern confederation , the kings of the East , the kings of the South , the Lord and His armies, and the nation of Israel.

Israel will be at the center of the conflict. The Bible tells us that when the nations that are gathered together against Jerusalem see the Lords armies coming , they will forget about each other and band together to fight against the Lord.

They will, of course, be of no opposition. The Lord Jesus comes to battle in all His power and majesty as the King of the universe. Revelation 19 describes His appearance when He returns to earth: His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS .

He slays the nation with the sword as His armies stand together watching. In one dramatic moment, He throws the Antichrist and the False Prophet into the lake of fire and the Battle of Armageddon is complete.

The final resulting bloodshed, according to Ezekiel 39:8-16 ).

What Is The Context Of Matthew 2: 24 And The Signs And Wonders

The context of Matthew 24:24 finds itself in a section running from Matthew 24:1-25:46 discussing what is known as the Olivet Discourse, so named because Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives when He spoke these words. The Olivet Discourse is the fifth of Jesus five major discourses recorded in the Gospel of Matthew. Addressed to his disciples, the Olivet Discourse is intended to give them a prophetic overview of the events to transpire in both the near and distant future.

What Do You Say To Someone Who Has Lost A Loved One

End Times Bible Prophecy Is Unfolding Before Our Very Eyes (VIDEO ...

Over the years I have discovered that it really doesnt matter what you say in terms of the precise words. Those who are grieving will not remember the words you say, but they will never forget that you cared enough to be there when they needed you. If you go with Gods love in your heart, he will give you any words you need to say. That means we dont need to answer questions only God can answer. If we dont know the spiritual state of the deceased, we shouldnt speculate, either to offer false hope or lay a heavier burden on those who are left behind. God is both just and merciful, and in every case He will do what is right.

Can We Contact The Dead After They Are Gone

The answer is no. Any attempt to dabble in spirit contact is strictly forbidden in the Bible. It is sometimes called necromancy or sorcery or dealing with familiar spirits. Remember, demons can masquerade as the dead. They can even mimic the voices of our loved ones and give information that only the dead person would have known . In case this isnt clear, let me make it plain. Do not attempt to contact the dead through any means at allséances, parlor games, crystal balls, psychic readers, channelers, or mediums. You are involving yourself in that which God forbids. Leave the dead alone.

Professor Alan Hultberg On What The Bible Says About The End Times

Biola Magazine Staff April 22, 2012

Theres nothing like an apocalypse prediction to get the media buzzing. Last May, one of the more highly publicized predictions in recent memory came from radio host Harold Camping, who gained national notoriety by warning that Judgment Day would arrive on May 21. Meanwhile, other doomsday predictors have had their eyes on 2012 for several years now some say the Mayan calendar places the end of the world on Dec. 21. But amidst all the hype and pop culture hoopla, what does the Bible actually say about the end times?

Eschatology is a popular but notoriously difficult area of Christian theology. There are nearly as many theories on how to interpret the book of Revelation, for example, as there are books in the Left Behind series. One of the most contested elements of evangelical end times scholarship is the rapture specifically when it will take place in relation to other eschatological events like the tribulation and the return of Christ to earth.

Alan Hultberg, an associate professor at Talbot School of Theology, is one of Biolas resident experts on end times theology, and he recently edited the book, Three Views on the Rapture. Biola Magazine recently interviewed Hultberg about the rapture, its various interpretations, and why its important for Christians to take seriously.

What is the rapture, and what is the scriptural evidence for it?

You argue for the prewrath position. What are the main supporting arguments for this position?
