Tithing Isnt What Makes You Righteous
Jesus also told the following parable to illustrate that tithing in itself does not make a person more righteous than anyone else.
To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: God, I thank you that I am not like other peoplerobbers, evildoers, adulterersor even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.
But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, God, have mercy on me, a sinner. What Jesus Said About Tithing
Jesus set Himself at odds with the religious establishment. A lot of this tension revolved around the tendency to follow the law but to ignore its spirit. They ignored justice and mercy, and their idea of faithfulness revolved around an extreme focus on the minutiae of the law.
So when Jesus specifically talks about the tithe, He focuses on being rigid in following the tithe while ignoring the weightier matters of what it means to follow God. But when He brings the topic up, His instruction is not that they should have neglected tithing, but rather that they should have also focused on what was really important.
Throughout Jesusâ teaching on giving, He doesnât seek to undermine the principle of the tithe but encourages people to practice their giving in meaningful ways.

Giving Is To Be Periodic
On the first day of every week
Paul writes to the Corinthian church, On the first day of every week . There is ample biblical evidence that the early church met weekly, on Sunday . Paul begins his instructions about giving, then, by noting that the Corinthian believers ought to give when they are gathered together on the first day of the week. Such giving would prevent a lack when funds were needed .
Of course, in our context, you may not be compensated weekly but even if you are paid on a biweekly or monthly basis, your giving could still be periodic.
Generous giving is a tangible expression of our love for God.

The tithe was originally 10 percent of every Israelites property . It was given as a type of tax to support the priests and Levites . However, greed discouraged many Israelites from paying it, and eventually it became a duty that replaced true worship.
Tithing Is Our Covenant Connection
They have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies. Joshua 7:11-12
Refusing to tithe disconnects you from the covenant of blessing. When you tithe, you give God the legal right to intervene in your financial affairs, to bless you richly, and to defend you against the destruction the devil brings.
Dont wait until your back is against the wall to start. Begin now. Meditate on the blessings Gods Word promises you as a tither. Learn to act on that Word now, and when Satan tries to put you in a financial corner, hell fail. Establish yourself on the covenant of Godthen Satan will have no chance against you. God will rebuke him for your sake.

It Is So Much Bigger Than Us
The Much Bigger Issue Here Is That Gods Kingdom Needs To Be Advanced!
Who does He use to do that? Us, the believers! If we arent funding and financing Kingdom activities, then who will? How are the lost going to be reached if we dont send those to preach?
We shouldnt be getting all caught up in percentages and what we have to do according to the Bible what we need to do is to forget about our ambitions, goals, and motives and pick up Gods plan. We have been saved from eternal separation from God by grace! With all that we have been given, how can we do anything else but give all we have?
What if we could get our minds off of our earthly bank accounts and focus instead on sowing things that will have eternal value.
I judge all things only by the price they shall gain in eternity.
Not sure if you know, but eternity is a LONG TIME!
We can either be doing things with our time and money that may benefit us for a few years down here, or we can see ourselves as the eternal beings that we are, get our priorities lined up with Gods, and start giving in a way that will actually last for eternity!
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

When we give tithes and offerings into our churches and into ministries that are reaching the world, we get to be included in their eternal reward. We are the BODY of Christ, we all have a part to play.

Argument #1there Is No Place In The Bible Where It Says To Give Less Than A Tithe
There are plenty of examples in scripture where the Israelites gave an offering or a sacrifice that was less than 10% of their increase. To say that there is no place in the bible where it says to give less than 10% is a closed-minded and ignorant statement.
If we want to get technical about giving, we should remind ourselves that there is no place in the bible where it encourages us to offer less than 100%. What If You Arent Cheerful About Your Giving
Over the years of my giving journey, I have had plenty of moments where I was giving in faith. Moments where I could tell God was asking me to give beyond my comfort level.
Many of these times I wasnt smiling and jumping up and down in excitement, because it was a huge step of faith and I was battling fear.
If we look at 2 Cor 9:7 again it specifically says that we should NOT give out of compulsion, but it doesnt say that if we arent cheerful about it, we shouldnt give. It just says that God loves it when we are.
And as I have given in faith over and over through the years, I have found myself becoming more cheerful in those tough moments of obedience.
Each time you step out in faith and see God come through, it just makes it that much easier to get excited about what God is going to do.
