Solomon Asks For Wisdom
3 Solomon made an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt and married his daughter. He brought her to the City of David until he finished building his palace and the temple of the Lord, and the wall around Jerusalem.2 The people, however, were still sacrificing at the high places, because a temple had not yet been built for the Name of the Lord.3 Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the instructions given him by his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.
4 The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.5 At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, Ask for whatever you want me to give you.
6 Solomon answered, You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
7 Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number.9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?

How To Have Wisdom From God According To The Bible

Wisdom is the ability to discern whats right from whats wrong. It is a gift that gives us the capability to make the right choice or decision. If knowledge is power, then wisdom is using that power the right way.
We can be educated or intelligent, but without wisdom, our education or intelligence may only be in vain. An intelligent person could earn more fame, money, and fortune, but a wise one could earn more friends, honor and Gods favor.
There is wisdom from people and there is also wisdom from God. The first may be packed with eloquence but less in substance, while the latter may not sound beautiful but full of power.
Gods wisdom can make one wise man more powerful than ten rulers in a city . It also preserves the life of its possessor .
Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge.
Knowledge is the awareness of information gained through observation, experience, or study.
Through learning and experience, we gain knowledge about our surroundings and how to handle various situations during life.
But without wisdom to apply that knowledge, it isnt very valuable to us or others.
Someone may know a lot about something, have all kinds of information in their mind, but if they do not have the wisdom to apply it, then they really dont have much value in their mind or from others.

Be patient in reading and learning Gods words in the Bible. The scriptures contain instructions, warnings, and guidance on how we should live and walk on Earth. The more you know the words of God, the more you will be wise.
Lesson : How To Obtain Wisdom From God
When I was in the Coast Guard, sometimes the skipper would ask me to steer the boat. He would tell me the compass course. My job was to keep the boat on that course. The wind and currents would cause the boat to drift, but I had to keep steering it back to the designated course. Eventually, we would come in sight of Long Beach Light, and right into the harbor.
One day, we had to go out in a terrible storm to rescue a man and his daughter whose sailboat had become disabled. On that occasion, the skipper did not ask me to steer the boat, but gave the task to a more experienced man. It is relatively easy to steer the boat in calm seas, but its an altogether different matter to steer it in sixty mile-per-hour winds and thirty-foot waves.
As a veteran shepherd of souls, James knew that its relatively easy to live as a Christian when things are calm. But its a much more difficult prospect when the storms of life hit with full force. At such times, its easy to get off course or even to make shipwreck of your faith. His readers were facing various difficult trials. They were dispersed abroad , mostly due to persecution. They had suffered the loss of their homes and possessions. Many were not able to escape persecution even in the places to which they had fled. James wanted them to know how to navigate through these trials so that they could not only endure, but joyfully endure .

Follow Up With Some Of These Verses
For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.
Lord, I need the kind of wisdom that comes from you. Please grant me both wisdom and knowledge. Guide my choices. I do not want to step outside of your will or act against your commands. Guide me, and keep me safe.
Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?
Lord, in order to be a good , I need your wisdom and knowledge. Grant me this request so that I may lead your people according to your wise counsel.

Wisdom and understanding are two different things. If we say that understanding is knowledge based, than wisdom is applying that knowledge through making right decisions.
Its the key to living the abundant life God promises His children. As James says here, good life. Wisdom means making those right decisions about what we put in our minds, put in our mouths, and how we treat our bodies.
Sometimes its way too easy to ignore the things we know we should do.
Praise God for teaching us how to live the abundant life and for blessing us with the wise promises of Scripture. As you meditate on these verses, my prayer is that you would be filled with the wisdom that comes only from God and leads to a peaceful, abundant, and everlasting life! God Bless You Abundantly!

Wisdom Vs Knowledge Bible Verses
Whats the difference between wisdom and knowledge? They are definitely interrelated.
Knowledge is an understanding of facts and information acquired through education and experience. Wisdom is using and applying knowledge in real-life situations.

Being Wise: Living In Wisdom
When we have the genuine desire to glorify God in our lives, we do that by chasing after the insight from His Word. As we live in faithfulness to His laws, we receive discernment for the choices we make every day, as well as key lifetime decisions, such as choosing a mate, finding a career, and so forth.
When Gods Word is our reference point, we can correctly apply knowledge and experience to new challenges and choices and thus, live in wisdom.
Ephesians 5:15-20 tells us how to live in wisdom:
Be very careful, then, how you livenot as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the Lords will is.
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Be Peaceful And Considerate
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. James 3:17
Always observe awareness and practice peacefulness. Be gentle and slow to anger. Learn how to forgive and show mercy. Be considerate of the feelings of the people around you. Have compassion and understand the sufferings of others. By achieving calmness, peacefulness and full awareness of your surroundings, you will have a better chance to receive the wisdom that comes from God.
Do Your Best To Get Wisdom

In the first few months of motherhood, I felt completely in over my head. Being the oldest of four children, the mechanics of caring for a child were not new to me. However, being completely responsible for a baby around the clock was a shock. Add in postpartum hormones and the shift from full-time employee to full-time mother, and I was sinking.
Things didnt get easier as she grew. Soon, I saw her strong will come to the surface. Mom versus child battles became the norm. Potty training felt like torture. Fatigue made things worse. Oh, and then I birthed another baby.
Fast-forward thirteen years. I still feel overwhelmed much of the time. Raising children, making decisions, dreaming about the futureit all feels shaky and uncertain. In the middle of the unknown, Gods Word breathes hope.
Why Do We Need Gods Wisdom
Sometimes people go through life without really knowing the impact that they make on those around them. They could be kind-hearted, giving and caring, and completely in tune with others moods, but they dont always see what it is that makes a difference to someone else.
Gods wisdom revolutionizes our lives by showing us how weve impacted other people in ways we never wouldve imagined sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. It also opens our eyes to the wisdom we possess within ourselves.
These insights are important because they help us learn how to be wise in everything we do and say, whether its on a personal level or towards an organization.
