Even if you dont remember your dreams you are still dreaming at night. The average person sleeping a full 8 hours will dream between one to two hours! Most of our dreams happen in REM sleep. Its like our eyes are moving to watch the dream. Pretty cool how God made us!
Im one of those people that have a lot of dreams at night. I can still vividly remember certain dreams I had even as a child.
But as Christians what are we supposed to do with that? Does God speak in dreams? Or should we just completely ignore these night riddles?
I really want to help those who are asking that question. Its important we understand what the Bible says about it and how we can be a good steward.
Before I unwrap everything I will flat out tell you right now.YES, God speaks in dreams. It is just one of the many ways God speaks to us prophetically.
But I believe it is important for us to learn about dreams because it is easy for us to toss out a dream thinking it was nothing when God is trying to tell us something.
And He said, Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord will make Myself known to him in a vision And I will speak to him in a dream. Numbers 12:6
Always Pray About The Dream
Our first response to a bad dream, regardless of its source, should be to prayand how you pray will depend upon the source of the dream.
This process should not be complicated, long, or drawn out. We can have simple and bold faith. Our Father is good, His purpose is good, and our authority in Jesus Name is sure. We can be confident that prayer and referring to what the Bible says should lead us back to a place of peace and rest.
The Interpretation Belongs To The Lord
Before setting out to interpret the dreams of the butler and the baker from Pharaohs house, Joseph said,
Do not interpretations belong to God? Genesis 40:8
Gills Exposition of the Entire Bible offers more insight into this: For as dreams themselves, which are of importance, and predict things to come, are of God for none can foretell future events but he, and such to whom he imparts the gift of prophecy so none can interpret dreams with any certainty but God himself, and those to whom he gives the faculty of interpretation of them.
We need to work with the Spirit of God to unlock interpretations.
For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 10:11
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14
Our natural minds can be helpful in assimilating dreams for interpretation but ultimately the accurate interpretation is informed by the God who gave you the dream.

When the chief baker saw that Joseph had given a favorable interpretation, he said to Joseph, I too had a dream: On my head were three baskets of bread. In the top basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head.

Using Prayer To Overcome Night Time Anxiety
As Christians we know there is power in prayer. Gods word is alive and sharper than a double-edge sword. So instead of focusing on the scary dreams or pretend monsters, try focusing on who God is.
Teach your children how much He loves them! To do this you can share with your children what His word says. In it we find promises, like He will keep us safe and send His angels to watch over us. Ive found power and comfort when Ive used these scriptures to guide my prayers.
So how do you pray these powerful words? Here is example of how to pray scripture:

Dont Follow Sinful Dreams
Although you cannot control what you dream, the Holy Spirit can help you control how you respond to your dreams . Or as Martin Luther once quipped, I cannot . . . keep a bird from flying over my head. But I can certainly keep it from nesting in my hair or from biting my nose off . If you have a sin-filled dream, you have the responsibility to not make it a reality. In fact, one way to think about sinful dreams is as a warning from God, ahead of time, to prepare us not to sin in real life in the way we did in the dream.
If you wake from a lustful dream, you are vulnerable and need to resist the temptation to fantasize about your dream or follow urges to act upon it. If youve had a vengeful dream, you may be irritable or quick to anger. You need to resist the urge to be sharp with others or distrust them simply because your dream tempts you to do so.
Once you wake, take every thought obedient to Christ and make no provision for your fleshs desires .

Dont Feed Sinful Dreams
The apostle Paul reminds us, The one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption . This is true in every area of life, including your dreams. If you foster bitterness or unforgiveness in your heart, you shouldnt be surprised if your dreams are marked by malice. On the other hand, if we discipline ourselves to pursue godliness, we may find that even our sleep is marked by peace .
King Solomon warned his sons to keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life . Are you keeping your heart with thoughtful vigilance? Are your evenings marked by flesh-pacifying entertainment? Are you scrolling through ego-stroking or ego-deflating notifications on social media? Do you eat unnecessary food or drink alcohol before bed? While none of those activities may be inherently sinful, they can be selfish appetizers for your sinful flesh that provoke ungodly dreams.

The above dictionary definitions of “incubus” are slightly off in that this phenomenon is happening to both men and women, not just women, it is more than just a nightmare, and demons do not have genders. It is a living reality and warning sign that you need to eliminate the SIN in your life and work on your personal relationship with the Lord. If you know that you are a child of God then you need to put on your Ephesians 6 armour and command Satan to get out of your house and out of your life!

How God Sends Us Warning Through Dreams
