What Does The Bible Say About Relieve Suffering

What does the Bible say about suffering?

Romans 5:3-5 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance 4 perseverance, character and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because Gods love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. 1 Peter 4:12-19 12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with Gods household and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And, If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner? 19 So then, those who suffer according to Gods will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. Romans 8:28 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

How Can The Hope The Bible Offers Us Help You Today

Our hope can protect our emotional and mental stability, and even our physical well-being.1 Thessalonians 5:8.

Why Does God Allow Suffering

As Bible-teacher, Clarence Haynes, Jr. writes in answer to the question of why God allows suffering, I dont know. My I dont know answer to the question of why God allows suffering may not feel very theological. However, it does point to a truth that we sometimes forget. Gods ways and purposes are higher than ours, and we wont always figure them out.

Entire books have been written about suffering and I am ill-equipped to explain its purposes. As believers, we have two choices when faced with sufferingdraw near to God or give up our faith.

As someone familiar with suffering, Ive determined I will not give the Enemy the satisfaction of observing my pain and then participate in my own suffering by choosing a life without Christ. Without hope.

That is, in a sense, what happened in the Garden of Eden. When Satan deceived Eve, he invited her into suffering by giving up relationship with God. But through His death on the cross, Jesus overcame the Enemy. As the second Adam, He has given us an eternal life free of heartache.

Revelation 21:4 encourages with these words, And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain for the former things have passed away.

Suffering Is Mysterious And Pervasive

Christ-followers know only in part many of the mysterious purposes of God , but its clear how suffering began.

Satan is the author of sin, and suffering came on mankind as a result of Adams sin . Because of that choice, the curse of sin pervades all creationhumans have a sin nature but people also are sinners because of their choices . Suffering because of sin is a tragic part of all human life.

Though no trial can separate the Christian from Christs love , the mystery of suffering is real. David felt this struggle when he asked, How long will you hide your face from me? . Sin separates us from God , and the believer keenly feels this loss of fellowship when dealing with a sin.

Suffering Grows The Body Of Christ

Jesus never told you that as soon as you gave your life to Him, it would be smooth sailing forever. Instead, He promised that you would be hated by all for His names sake

You will be hated by all for my names sake. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives.

Luke 21:17-18 ESV

The Church in many parts of the world has gone through fiery trials and suffering, and although many are facing persecution for their faith, the Lord is bringing more and more people to faith in Him.

Because you are an ambassador of Jesus Christ and an agent of redemption, you partake in His sufferings. The light of Christ dwells within you, and as a Christian, you will be disliked by all because you oppose the darkness which lies in the hearts of men .

However, when you suffer by the hands of men and are persecuted for your faith, you are declaring Gods saving grace and faithfulness in your life. Revelation 12:11 also says that you have overcome the enemythe devilby the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony.

Enduring suffering is an act of choosingintellectually, emotionally, and volitionallythat you will embrace opposition from the world and the devil for Jesus sake so that His name will be known in all the earth and among all mankind.

Also, when one member of the body of Christ suffers, all suffer, because Christ is the head of the body, which is the Church .

However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And, If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner? So then, those who suffer according to Gods will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.1 Peter 4:1219

The Problem Of Suffering

The starting point for the Christian understanding of suffering is the messianic self-understanding of Jesus himself. A temptation to power and self-exaltation lay in the late Jewish promise of the coming of the MessiahSon of man. The Gospel According to Matthew described the temptation of Jesus by Satan in the wilderness as a temptation to worldly power. Jesus himself deeply disappointed his disciples notions aiming at power and exaltation, in that he taught them, in accordance with Isaiah, chapter 53: The Son of man will suffer many things. In Jesus announcements of suffering the Christian understanding of suffering is clearly expressed: suffering is not the final aim and end in itself in the realization of human destiny it is the gateway to resurrection, to rebirth, to new creation. This idea receives its clarification from the Christian understanding of sin. Sin as the misuse of human freedom has led humans into total opposition against God. Turning to God can therefore take place only when the results of this rebellion are overcome in all levels of human being, all the way to physical corporeality.

Suffering Touched Our Savior

What does the Bible say about suffering as a part of Gods plan for us?

Jesus in the flesh experienced weariness and other human weakness. He was tempted in every way humans are, yet he was without sin. In the midst of impending suffering, Jesus example was: Not my will, but yours be done .

Jesus said His people would follow in His footsteps, and that would include suffering . He left us an example of how to suffer . He said His followers would be blessed when they faithfully endured suffering for His names sake . Paul deeply desired to share in Christs sufferings .

The author of salvation entered fully into suffering and emergence victorious over it . The ultimate answer to suffering was at the cross when Jesus declared, It is finished . Our suffering as we follow Him has purpose, and it will come to an end.

Seeing God Through Your Pain And Suffering

Suffering

Pain is an opportunity to share in the suffering of Christ.

3. Romans 8:17-18 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of Gods glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.

4. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christs sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

5. 2 Corinthians 1:5-6 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.

6. 1 Peter 4:13 Instead, be very gladfor these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.
