Suggestions For Growing In Knowledge
One of the ways you can store up knowledge is to start a family library a godly family library and leave it as a legacy to the next generation. In my family, four generations back gave their library to three generations back, who gave it to two generations back my dad who gave it to me. I began collecting books when I was sixteen years old. For many years, I read a book a day. Today I have over twenty thousand volumes in my library.
As a teenager I heard, The impact on your life will be largely from the people you meet and the books you read. So I decided to get very intentional about both of those whom I would meet and what I would read. And when you begin to build a library of godly, Christian books, you are leaving a legacy for the next generation. Twice in the book of Proverbs we are told to store up my commands within you . If you are going into eternity, you are going to take that with you.
If youre serious about growing in knowledge and growing in your mind, heres the approach I suggest:
Ease Your Mind On Gods Plan:
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future .
It can be difficult to believe that there is a calculated plan for our lives when everything is in chaos. Yet the Lord knows our beginning and endand He has planned it to the minute detail in order that we may live what He has destined for us. The amazing grace of God is the buffer of our lives that allows us to fulfill our destiny in Christ.
The Imitation Of Christ
He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, saith the Lord. These are the words of Christ and they direct us to imitate his life and character. The Imitation of Christ is a guide to following the example of Jesus Christ. It should be our most earnest study to dwell upon the life of Jesus Christ. The Imitation of Christ.

What Does ‘renewing Of The Mind’ Mean In The Bible
Simply stated, renewing your mind according to Romans 12:2 means interpreting life through the lens of Gods Word and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, rather than through the lens of your experience, woundedness, trauma, preferences, or the opinions of others. Its a fundamental shift toward seeing the world, yourself, others, God, and especially whats possible from a Kingdom perspective. Its making a daily, moment by moment choice to choose the Mind of Christ which lives inside of us as new creations rather than operating from our soulish mind the way we did before we were saved.

Top 7 Bible Verses To Ease The Mind
Troubling times tend to influence our minds with fears, anxieties, and doubts even though we know that God is in control. We must make the intentional effort of focusing our minds on the truths of Gods word. By doing so, we can have peace and confidence even in the midst of great difficulty. Its a lifetime practice we will never grow out of if we intend to be people of strong faith. Below are the top 7 Bible verses to help ease our minds:
The Mind Governed By The Flesh Is Hostile To God It Does Not Submit To God’s Law Nor Can It Do So Romans : 7 Niv
Allowing our earthly bodies to control our minds puts our actions in opposition to Gods Word. That is to say, placing our minds at the mercy of our earthly desires, carnal or otherwise, directly counters godliness.
In fact, the Christian scholar Charles Ellicott gave us an even harsher view, saying: The carnal mind is death–because it implies enmity with God, and enmity with God is death.
Its a fairly clear condemnation of giving over to ones fleshly desires. But it also makes a case for disciplining the mind for a greater purpose, all of which serves God in action.

What Does The Bible Say About Renewing The Mind
How do you renew your mind? Are you earthly minded or are you heavenly minded? Lets replace the worlds way of thinking with the truths of Gods Word. What we dwell upon and the things that take our time will shape our lives. As believers, we renew our minds biblically by spending uninterrupted time with God in prayer and His Word. Be careful what you are feeding your mind because what we indulge in will affect us. Set time daily to read the Bible, prayer, and worship the Lord.
A Challenge To Thinkers And To Doers
Many of you are natural thinkers and love the world of thoughts and ideas. You may not really like people, but you love the world of thoughts and ideas. Maybe your idea of growth and of ministry is to stay in a study all week. For some pastors, this would mean going through a vacuum tube out to the pulpit, then preaching, and then taking the vacuum tube back to their study. That would be heaven for them.
Perhaps you are naturally a great thinker God wired you that way. And then others of you are naturally great doers. Youre figuring out how to do it winning people to Christ, baptizing them in large numbers, planting churches, equipping servant leaders, assisting the poor, caring for the sick, educating the next generation, going out into the hurts and highways and byways of life and taking up the cross where people least expect it. Youre a doer.
Heres what I want to say to you, friend. Those of you who are thinkers, you need to do more. Those of you who are doers, you need to think more. Its not one or the other. Its both-and.

A Joyful Heart Is Good Medicine But A Crushed Spirit Dries Up The Bones
The well-being of our emotional and mental states lies at the center of much of our happiness. Though we may carry within ourselves a heart that seeks and finds perfect peace and joy in the things around us, a broken spirit will lead to sorrow and heartbreak.
It may also lead us down a path of darkness.
With this in mind, here and elsewhere, God encourages us to be joyful, to seek happiness and contentment in the Lord, so that we can remain strong in our spirit and faith while experiencing the peace of God.

Four Principles For Winning The Battle For Your Mind
I have been studying this subject for thirty-three years. I did my first study on the mind in 1977, working through all the books of the Bible. I think I could teach on this subject for an entire week. There is so much material on what the Bible has to say about strengthening our minds, renewing our minds, submitting our minds, and bringing our thoughts into captivity. There are at least one hundred principles in Gods Word that have to do with what we are to do with our minds. As I said, your mind is your greatest asset.
But all I want to do in this chapter is give you four simple principles four of the many, many principles that I have tried to teach to others over the years for living like Christ and being effective for him.
Five Steps To Renewing Your Mind
What does your stream of consciousness sound like?
There are words floating through my mind at all times some are good and purposeful, and others are not. My mental monologue generally contains too much self-focused and self-defeating babble.
What a stupid thing to say! Did she just ignore me? Thats a good idea for a blog postor maybe its just dumb. Id like to ________, but I dont know if I can pull it off.
On, and on it goes. Its exhausting.
My mind needs a refresher. Maybe you too will benefit from these steps.

Its notable that this comes at the end of a longer passage. It feels like a summary of a larger endorsement. But it is no less pertinent, as it addresses the mindset of the Christian directly.
We should mentally engage ourselves with what is truthful and noble, in order to inform our actions accordingly. After all, truth and virtue are found through Christ. So it would seem logical to connect all things that are righteous and pure as being of Christ. We would do well to fill our minds with such things.

To Be Consistent With Our Words We Must Decide To Only Speak Gracious Words
Colossians 4:6 says, Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer everyone. Grace means unmerited favor. Therefore, to be gracious in our words means always speaking loving things to people, even when they dont deserve it. It means that even though they deserve our wrath, we give them Gods favor. We bless and do not curse. Ephesians 4:29 says, You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, that it may give grace to those who hear. With that said, speaking gracious words doesnt mean we never correct sin. That is often the most gracious thing we can do, as long as it is spoken in a loving and wise manner .
Who is God calling you to speak gracious words toencouraging words about their personality, spiritual gifts, hard work, and calling? Our words should be like water that refreshes someone and fruit that strengthens them. We should constantly seek to shower people with encouraging words that edify them. Proverbs 12:25 says, Anxiety in a persons heart weighs him down, but an encouraging word brings him joy. We should be people that constantly bring joy to others.
To control our tongues, we must aim for consistency. An apple tree doesnt produce figs. Likewise, our lips should not produce unwholesome fruit.
Application Question: What are some other tips to help our words be more consistentreflecting Gods righteousness?

Im not here to offer magic formulas, but I do believe theres a particular path that ends in a life well-lived and a lasting legacy. That path starts between the ears.
The Bible speaks often about the power of the mind and our thoughts. I think its easy to glaze over this and overlook the connection between thoughts and transformation. Maybe its to self-helpish, and weve been turned off by cheap self-help books.
The unhealthy relationship between science and faith hasnt served Christians well either. Science connected the mind with transformation years ago. But the bitter rivalry between faith and science wouldnt give credibility to its findings.
More and more, science is confirming Scripture, not contradicting it.
Our minds are powerful, and our thoughts shape who we are and will become.
