When You Have Wisdom You Shun And Avoid Sin Evil And Wickedness In Your Daily Life

When I was in Bible college at Prairie Bible Institute, Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, we were told to memorize Proverbs eight. In that passage of Scripture, God calls the sons of men: black, white, Jew, Gentile, all nationalities to come to Him and understand Wisdom. In verses 11-16, it says this:
For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. I, possess knowledge and discretion wisdom dwell together with prudence. To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Counsel and sound judgement are mine I have understanding and power. By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just: by me princes govern and all nobles who rule on earth.

I did not fully understand why we were told to memorize this passage. As I grew older and matured in my Christian faith, I realized how crucial and relevant in life wisdom is I realized why my professor told us to memorize this passage.
You see men in history and everyday who have reached the pinnacle of fame and riches, labored very hard, only to crash and destroyed because of lack of wisdom. Look at these men:

Bible Verses On Knowledge
In the Bible, knowledge is accompanied by truth. It is knowing the truth of who God is, what He desires for us, and how to live our lives to please Him. 1 Timothy 4:3-4 tells us: This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Definition of Wisdom
What is wisdom?What are the characteristics of a person who has wisdom? As first characteristic worth knowing, we have Proverbs 9:10 which says, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. What this Scripture is saying is that the wisdom that leads to life, peace, and ultimate happiness is that which begins with knowing and fearing God. Fearing the Lord God Almighty means fearing to run away from Him. It means fearing to seek refuge, protection, happiness, joy, peace, salvation and hope elsewhere than in God. Behold, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This saying is not only in the sense that it is the first step in a wise way to live, but also in the full sense that later characteristics of wisdom all flow from the fear of God.

A Prayer For Wisdom And Knowledge
Dear Lord,
You are the giver of all knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and discernment. I need your guidance daily. Teach me truth as I read your Word. Give me the insight from the Holy Spirit on how to put your word into practice in my daily life. I want to please and honor you by obeying and conforming to your will. I trust you to lead me and I will keep gaining knowledge from your word, Lord. Thank you that through Jesus all wisdom has been revealed. Help me to use your wisdom to teach others about you. Amen.
Our daily choices may not seem as great as Solomon ruling a kingdom but God has called us to be His royal nation and holy priesthood once we place our faith in Christ alone so we need His knowledge and wisdom to represent Him well. I pray this is a reminder to us that God is the giver of wisdom, He wants to share this gift with us, and we need only ask through faith in prayer.

We must be careful because there is a wisdom from above and also a wisdom of this world. We should be desiring and seeking after the wisdom from above. James gives us a description of this wisdom it is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. .
The Webster 1828 Dictionary defines wisdom as The right use or exercise of knowledge the choice of laudable ends, and of the best means to accomplish them. wisdom is the exercise of sound judgment either in avoiding evils or attempting good.
In contrast, the wisdom of this world is foolish and worthless .

Knowledge And Wisdom Bible Verses
