What Is An Example Of A Sad Psalm

3 BIBLE VERSES TO READ WHEN YOU ARE FEELING SAD/ALONE OR DEPRESSED.

Psalm 88 is a good example of a sad Psalm. In this Psalm, David cries and lament before God day and night complaining about his troubles and how God seeming has forgotten him.

Here are Psalm 88 if you care to read it:

Psalm 88 O lord God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:

2 Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry.

3 For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

4 I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:

5 Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.

6 Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

7 Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah.

8 Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

9 Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: Lord, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.

Come To God With Your Suffering

You can start to experience the inward renewal that the apostle Paul experienced when you come to God with your suffering. God seems far away when we suffer. You believe that He exists, but it seems as if He is too busy with everything else, or He just doesnt care. After all, God is powerful enough to end your suffering, but He hasnt.

If you start there, youll reach a dead end pretty quickly. God hasnt promised to explain everything about what He does and what He allows. Instead, He encourages us to start with Jesus. Jesus is God the Son, and He is certainly loved by his heavenly Father. Yet Jesus also went through more suffering than anyone who ever lived!

Here we see that love and suffering can co-exist. And when you start reading the Bible and encounter people like Job, Jeremiah, and the apostle Paul, you get a sense that suffering is actually the well-worn path for Gods favorites. This doesnt answer the question, Why are you doing this to me? But it cushions the blow when you know that God understands. You arent alone. If we know anything about God, we know that He comes close to those who suffer, so keep your eyes open for Him.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light .

Jesus gives rest to those who are crushed by the weight of the world. He is gentle and lowly in heart, and he doesnt rebuke those who find themselves laboring under the overwhelming yoke of depression.

Top 7 Bible Verses To Read When You Feel Sad

What Bible verse should one read when feeling depressed? | Biblically Speaking

Here are 7 of my favorite Bible verses to read when you feel sad about things. What ones would you suggest?

Psalm 34:17-20 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones not one of them is broken.

Have you ever been like me and broken down and cried out to God in times of great trouble? Just think about what God says He is nearer to you then than at other times. Have you ever felt crushed in spirit? I certainly have and it makes me fall down on my face and cry out to God but what comfort there is in His Word that the Lord hears our cries and will deliver us out of all of our troubles. I notice that these verses dont say God will keep us out of all our troubles or have us pass around them or go over them but will deliver us out of them and not only that, He will deliver us out of them all!

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

Try One Step At A Time

Granted, it seems impossible. How can someone live without feelings? Without them you have no drive, no motivation. Could you imagine walking without any feeling in your legs? It would be impossible.

Or would it? Perhaps you could walk if you practiced in front of a large mirror and watched your legs moving. One step, wobble, another step. It would all be very mechanical, but it could be done.

People have learned to walk in the midst of depression. It doesnt seem natural, though other people wont notice either the awkwardness or the heroism involved. The trek begins with one step, then another. Remember, you are not alone. Many people have taken this journey ahead of you.

As you walk, you will find that it is necessary to remember to use every resource you have ever learned about persevering through hardship. It will involve lots of moment by moment choices: 1) take one minute at a time, 2) read one short Bible passage, 3) try to care about someone else, 4) ask someone how they are doing, and so on.

You will need to do this with your relationships, too. When you have no feelings, how to love must be redefined. Love, for you, must become an active commitment to patience and kindness.

When Youre Really Depressed: 7 Ways To Manage Severe

This is sad for me to read. My son is 17 but has problems. I am very protective of him. He has problems, reading and writing. What Does The Bible Say About Pain And Sorrow

14 Best Bible Verses To Read When Youre Sad ...

According to scriptures, pain and sorrow are spirits that seek to manifest themselves when life is hard, and your back is against the wall. Pain, sorrow, and grief are not from God the devil uses it as a weapon to cause you to give up and stop believing in God.

Mind you, God does allow it, but its not from Him.

Reach can read about it here:

2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

How to Find Godand JoyWhen Life Is Hard

The Confidence Of The Shepherd: John 10

John is my favorite of all the gospels and possibly chapter 10 is my favorite chapter in this book. It is so hard to narrow down only one chapter because I love chapters 3, 6, 14 and so many others but there is something special about chapter 10. For one thing, we see Jesus being portrayed as the Good Shepherd and how good this shepherd is that will lose none of His sheep! Jesus says And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd . This shepherd is unlike any other shepherd there is and it is For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father . The shepherd voluntarily laid down His life for us, His sheep, who should have been headed to the slaughter instead, the Good Shepherd that He is, He headed to the slaughter for us and was silent before the slaughters. Here are some reasons that I love John chapter 10, this chapter:

  • shows our security in Christ and in the Father
  • shows that Jesus Christ is truly God
  • shows that the Good Shepherd knows His sheeps voice and the sheep know His and
  • shows that the Shepherd voluntarily died so that we wouldnt perish .

A Bruised Reed He Will Not Break

a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench he will faithfully bring forth justice .

A bruised reed is one that that is on the verge of breaking, and a faintly burning wick is a flame that is almost entirely extinguished. Thats a very apt description of depression. You feel as though youre about to be completely broken or totally extinguished.

And though others may judge you because they dont understand what youre experiencing, God most certainly does not.

But doesnt break bruised reeds or blow out flames that are sputtering and smoking. Rather, he nurtures them and heals them and brings them back to life. God doesnt despise you in your bruised, broken, smoldering state. Rather, he is near to you, nurturing you and sustaining you.
