Perfect Creation Then The Bad News

7 Bible verses on Salvation – how to be saved

First of all, its tough to understand the good news of being saved if you dont understand the bad news. So lets go back to the beginning. In the beginning, God created everything:

Genesis 1:1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.1

When God created everything He said it was very good. This meant that everything was perfect. The whole creation was perfect. In fact, God says that all His works are perfect, and we would expect that from a perfect God. Man lived in the perfectly created earth with a perfect relationship with God.

Genesis 1:31God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morningthe sixth day.

Deuteronomy 32:4He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

Being that the original creation was perfect, there was no death before this .2 God gave man and woman the freedom of contrary choice.3 The first two people God created were Adam and Eve, who were allowed to freely eat from any tree in the Garden of Eden except the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. They were to live forever with God. Again, there was no death. However, Eve was tempted by a serpent , and then both Adam and Eve also rebelled against God by eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil thus, they sinned .

Pillar : New Life In Christ

Fourth, assurance comes through the evidence of a changed life. Ultimately, assurance is confirmed within us as we see God conforming us into the image of Jesus Christ. All who have been born again will see clear evidences of a new life in Christ. While we will never become perfect in this life, we will, nevertheless, experience a changed life. It is this inward transformation that provides strong confirmation of our salvation.

The book of First John details what are the vital signs of our new life in Christ. The Apostle John writes, We know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. In other words, we may be certain that we know Christ as we see within us a desired and willing obedience to Gods Word.

Likewise, John writes, other vital signs will follow: Love for other people, love for God, refusing the world, understanding biblical truth, righteous behavior, opposition from the world and answered prayer. As we see this spiritual fruit produced in our lives, we may be confident that Christ lives within us.

Here are the four sturdy pillars on which the assurance of our salvation rests. Giving full assurance of hope regarding our personal relationship with Jesus Christ, these pillars provide unshakable confidence of eternal life.

Plan Of Salvation Scriptures

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

John 3:16-18

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Romans 10:9-11

9 that i if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.

Romans 10:13

For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.

Luke 3:6

And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

The Holy Spirit Witnesses With Our Spirit

Another way we can be sure were saved is through the Spirit.

God gave us two wonderful gifts: the Bible, which is something outside of us, and His Spirit, who is inside us. Both testify that when we believe in Jesus, were saved eternally.

When we were born again by believing in Jesus, the Spirit came into our spirit to live in us forever.

Romans 8:16 speaks clearly concerning these two spirits:

The Spirit Himself witnesses with our spirit that we are children of God.

The Holy Spirit witnesses deep within us, in our spirit, that we are truly saved. Even if we doubt this and say, I dont think Im a child of God, the Spirit within us witnesses to confirm that we are.

One reason we may wonder whether were saved may be because we dont know how to experience this witnessing of the Holy Spirit with our spirit. Instead, we may rely on our fluctuating feelings or our doubting mind to assure us were saved. But the key to experiencing this witnessing of the Holy Spirit is to realize that its with our spirit, which is deeper than our emotions or our mind.

Now, lets read 1 Corinthians 12:3:

No one can say, Jesus is Lord! except in the Holy Spirit.

Note 3 on this verse explains how saying Jesus is Lord is crucial:

This indicates that when we say with a proper spirit, Jesus is Lord! we are in the Holy Spirit. Hence, to call on the Lord Jesus is the way to participate in, to enjoy, and to experience the Holy Spirit.

Asking For Salvation Through Prayer

Bible Quotes About Being Saved. QuotesGram
  • 1Confess your sins through prayer to communicate with God. When you commit a sin, sit down and take time to think about what happened. Use the time to pray in whatever manner you prefer, and be honest about what happened and why it happened. For instance, you might say something like Dear Father, Ive been having a hard time controlling my temper lately, and I lashed out and yelled at a friend today. Truly, Im worried about disappointing my friends, and I dont want to hurt them anymore.XResearch source
  • Its important to be honest about the situation and your intentions. As long as youre honest, you can ask for forgiveness.
  • 2Recite a prayer asking for forgiveness when you sin. Once youve prayed about your sin, you can ask for forgiveness. Recite a sinners prayer of your choice, or make up your own to be specific to your situation. Emphasize that you are truly sorry for your actions, and think of ways that you will try harder to act in Jesus image.XResearch source

    Sample Prayer for Forgiveness

If youve sinned by speaking negatively about yourself, you could say something like:

Father, today I ask forgiveness for speaking negatively about myself. I dont want to think of myself in an abusive way. Change my thoughts about myself and let me understand how you see me as your child. Help me adjust my habits so I speak hopefully and positively about myself and my life. In Jesus’ name.

    Pillar : The Great Convincer

Third, assurance comes through the inward witness of the Holy Spirit. A divinely produced gift, assurance is bestowed by Gods Spirit to all true believers. It is the Holy Spirits ministry to convince our hearts of our salvation.

In actuality, no preacher, evangelist, parent or friend can give us assurance. Neither can we work it up within ourselves. Only the Holy Spirit Himself can give us the absolute certainty of our eternal salvation.

The Bible says, We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit which He has given us. By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. This means, the Holy Spirit who convicted, called and converted us also convinces us that we belong to Christ. It is the Spirits inward witness that persuades us of the genuineness of our salvation.

Examples Of Salvation In The Bible

    46. Luke 19:1-10 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. 5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today. 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. 7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, He has gone to be the guest of a sinner. 8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount. 9 Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

    47. Isaiah 46:13 I bring near My righteousness, it is not far off And My salvation will not delay. And I will grant salvation in Zion, And My glory for Israel.

    49. Luke 19:9 And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.

    51. Isaiah 45:17 Israel has been saved by the Lord With an everlasting salvation You will not be put to shame or humiliated To all eternity.

The Free Gift Of Salvation: Belief In Christ

Jesus, being the perfect sacrifice, offers the free gift of salvation. God loves you so much that He sacrificed His own unblemished Son to suffer the wrath against sin and die on the Cross. He commands you to repent and trust in Him:

2 Corinthians 7:10For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted but the sorrow of the world produces death.9

The Bible is clear in several passages how to receive salvation. It doesnt mean you are perfect after you are saved, but it does mean that you are perfectly forgiven and saved from the penalty of sin by Gods grace.

Ephesians 2:89For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Romans 10:910That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Acts 16:3031He then brought them out and asked, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? They replied, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be savedyou and your household.

    Ready For Your New Beginning

God says in Romans 10:9 that if we make Jesus Lord of our lives, and believe that He was raised from the dead, we will be saved. If youre ready to start a new life with Jesus leading you and experience His true peace and joy in your life, pray this simple prayer out loud:

“Jesus, I know that I have made mistakes and I need You to save my lifeI need You as my Savior. I have tried to do things on my own for too long, and I know it doesnt work. So today, I give my life to You. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that You rose from the dead. Help me to live my life for You and You alone. Thank You for Your unending love, forgiveness and grace in my life. Thank You for a fresh start! Today, I start out my new life as a part of Your family.”

In Jesus name I pray, amen.

    Who Is Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is Gods son. Although he is eternal and lived in heaven beforehand, Jesus willingly left the comforts of heaven and came down to earth. He took on a human body for our sakes , lived a perfectly sinless life, experienced what we as humans go through, and then took the punishment for our sins by dying an excruciatingly painful death on the cross.

He died in our place. Then, he was raised from the dead on the third day, and ascended back to heaven. This is the Gospel ! Jesus is now currently sitting on the right hand of God the Father, reigning over his church , and waiting until the day when he will return for the judgment .

How To Be Saved Without Knowing Jesus

As Ive spent time pondering this, Ive come to the conclusion that people who have had no opportunity to know Jesus can be saved.

  • Salvation is a gift from God that cant be earned. At the root of the answer to this question of how to be saved without knowing Jesus is this all-important gospel truth: Salvation is a gift from God . Knowing Jesus enables us to live an extraordinary life, but it doesnt make it easier to be saved. Salvation is Gods work, not ours. The child and adult who never knew Jesus are saved through Jesus, the same way as those of us who do know Himits a gift that can only be received, but not earned.
  • God is a fair judge who wants all people to be saved. The Bible proclaims God as a righteous judge. He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness . The Bible also makes it clear that God wants everyone to be saved . You and I have had the benefit of the Bible to reveal God to us, but God has also revealed himself in a few other ways.
    • Before there was a Bible and in Old Testament times, God revealed Himself directly and through prophets. God explained His plan for saving people through the symbolism of the Hebrew tabernacle and feasts .
