Where Is Jehovah Rapha Found In The Bible

It Can Also Be Used When He Repairs Creation Or Restores Right Relationship With His People

Jehovah Rapha | Daily Devo Bible Study

Rapha in Hebrew means not only “healer,” but also “to mend, cure, repair thoroughly, make whole.” So this title can be used when God not only cures diseases and physical ailments but also when He repairs creation or restores a right relationship with His people. Jehovah-Rapha is used in all these contexts.

God, as Jehovah-Rapha, mends our broken relationship with Him. In Hosea, He promises that when His people return to Him, “I will heal their apostasy” . In Jeremiah, He says, “Return, O faithless sons I will heal your faithlessness” . This healing of our relationship with God is accomplished through Jesus’ work on the cross. Isaiah 53:5 explains, “he was pierced for our transgressions he was crushed for our iniquities upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds, we are healed .” Jehovah-Rapha has made a way for our right standing before Him to be restored with Jesus fulfilling the requirements of God’s wrath. We need only turn to Him and repent of our sins.

God Restores The Broken

Spiritual and Emotional Healing

God desires to make us whole. He calls us into the fullness of who He created us to be, emotionally and spiritually. For us to live and move in the freedom of the knowledge of His love, as a reality in our lives. Jesus warns us not to be surprised when we encounter trouble in this world but often we are!

When our faith is shaken by problems and difficulties, we need to come to a place of trusting and accepting Gods Sovereignty.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28

That, much quoted verse, does not say that all things are good, but that God works all things together for our good. We live in a fallen world, and are subject to the time that we live in, but we are being beautifully woven by God for eternity. Somethings may seem so wrong to us now, but God is always working for our higher good, for the spiritual grace that He is developing in our hearts.

We live in a fallen world, and are subject to the time that we live in, but we are being beautifully woven by God for eternity.

When we take our eyes off our own problems and start to trust in the sovereignty of God, a transformation occurs. From recognising our own weakness, and that we have no strength of our own, a new dependence on God develops. Then He can start to shape and bring forth something new and beautiful.

Does God Heal Today

Physical healing

All healing is from God. The natural way the body recovers and repairs itself, and the development of medical skills and medicines are gifts from our Heavenly Father. Around us we can see pain, sickness, and suffering. And we need to be able to resolve our faith with our life experience otherwise we have confusion.

There are accounts of physical healing in the Old Testament Scriptures. And the New Testament is full of accounts of Jesus praying for the sick, and the sick being healed. The miracles of Jesus were to point people to who He was the Messiah, the Son of God.

But the reality is that today, when we pray for physical healing, not everyone is healed sometimes God says wait.

One day everyone will be healed, restored, and made anew. When Jesus returns there will be no more sickness or pain. Right now we are in the waiting time between Gods kingdom, His sphere of influence, being near and fully complete. We can have a foretaste now, and miraculous physical healing is a view of what is to come!

We need to be sensitive that our words and prayers build up and strengthen those who will hear. If we dont pray, no-one is healed. If we pray, many are strengthened and encouraged, and some by the grace of God are healed.

Scriptures to pray in the waiting.

We pray for physical healing, but also for Gods grace and sufficiency.

We pray for physical healing, but also for comfort and strength for the day.

Pin on Bible Devotions

In Exodus 3:14, appearing before Moses as a burning bush, God reveals his name referring to himself in Hebrew tongue as Yahweh which translates to I am who I am. What Language Did The Jesus Speak

Jehovah Rapha (God our Healer) – David Onaneye

Most religious scholars and historians agree with Pope Francis that the historical Jesus principally spoke a Galilean dialect of Aramaic. Through trade, invasions and conquest, the Aramaic language had spread far afield by the 7th century B.C., and would become the lingua franca in much of the Middle East.

    NAMES OF GOD EXPLAINED

In Jewish tradition, a name is much more than a name as we see it today. They believe that a name transforms a persons identity, which is why so many names in the Old Testament describe the character of the person.

And the same goes for God. We see name after name explaining His different characteristics and nature throughout the Old Testament and then once you hit the New Testament we get to know Him even more through the life of Jesus.

But what do all of these names like YHWH, Adonai, El Shaddai, Jehovah Jireh, really mean?

Well start with Yahweh because thats the personal name of God and appears 6,500 times in the Old Testament. Theres this story in Exodus 3 where Moses is out in the wilderness for 40 years, he actually ran away from Egypt and was hiding out there. One day God shows up to Moses in the form of a burning bush and tells him about all of these miracles Hes going to perform through Moses. And Moses asks Him, who should I say sent me? And God said, tell them my name is Yahweh in Hebrew, which is translated as I Am who I am, so he said, tell them that I Am sent you.

Now this is the personal name of God. And when you see the name LORD in all caps in the Bible, thats this word, Yahweh.

How Is The Catholic Bible Different From The Protestant Bible

The Roman Catholic Bible consists of 73 books in the old testaments whereas the Protestant Bible contains only 66 books. The Catholic Bible accepts both Hebrew and Septuagint scriptures. Protestants dont believe in the veneration of saints but rather emphasize the direct connection between god and humans.

Inviting Jehovah Rapha To Heal Us Today

Lets apply this lesson to our hearts today. I invite you to join me as we allow Jehovah Rapha to examine our hearts. Are you and I more like the Israelites than we care to admit? When God doesnt work in our lives in the way that we think He should, do we grow bitter? Do we begin to plan ways that we can make things happen through our own efforts?

When Gods timing is different than we had hoped, do we harbor resentment against Him? How often do we look at people in our lives who do not seem to have the same struggles that we have and pose the question, What did I do to make God mad at me? I am as good as they are.

He is Jehovah Rapha-the Lord who heals you-and He longs to heal us of resentfulness, bitterness, and pride if we will but trust Him and walk before Him in obedience. Lets allow Him to examine our hearts and heal us of the diseases that sin inflicts upon us. The picture here is glorious: Our shepherd offers to come to us in the midst of our pain and depressed condition, and to sit by our side. He promises to bind up our wounds and strengthen the parts of us that have become sick and diseased.

We can call on Jehovah Rapha today He is still ready to fix whatever is broken in our lives. These verses from both the Old and New Testaments clearly show that Gods healing touch deals with much more than physical sickness, as it restores us spiritually or emotionally too!

We can call on Jehovah Rapha today He is still ready to fix whatever is broken in our lives.

Jesus Canceled The Record Of The Charges Against Us And Took It Away By Nailing It To The Cross

As 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us, For our sake He made Christ virtually to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of the righteousness of God . We are redeemed!

All this is said to point back to the FIRST redemptive name given to God Jehovah-Rapha . We trust God for eternal redemptionwe can trust Him daily for our health and healing!

Adonai has a similar context and refers to God as a powerful ruler. Similarly, El Shaddai, derived from shad i.e. Lord, also points to the power of God. Jesus Bore Our Sin & Sickness

Jehovah Rapha-The Lord Who Heals:Bible Study with Dr. Suresh Chiruguru

The word borne is the Hebrew word nasa. It literally means to lift up, to bear away, to convey, or to remove to a distance. The book Im currently reading talks about that word being used in the book of Leviticus when talking about the scapegoat used to bare away the sins of the the Israelites.

    Let me give some background

On the holiest day of Judaism Yom Kippur Jews used the scapegoat as a symbol of atonement from sin. On that day of repentance, the Jewish High Priest would take two goats, presenting them before God at the door of the sanctuary. One of the two goats would be sacrificed to God as a sin offering for the people of Israel. The blood was sprinkled on the tabernacles Mercy Seat as an atonement because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, for all their sins . Then the High Priest dealt with the second goatthe scapegoat.

Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man. The goat shall BEAR on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land and he shall release the goat in the wilderness. LEVITICUS 16:21-22

Exodus 1: 26 For I Am The Lord That Healeth Thee

Jehovah-rophe can be translated two ways I am the Lord thy Physician, or I am the Lord that healeth thee. The setting in which the name Jehovah-rophe first appears is the wilderness. The Lord had been leading Israel in the wilderness for three days without water. Since the Lord God was not lost, He must deliberately have been keeping them from water. He will use this occasion to prove Himself in a new way. He had appeared to Abraham as the Provider now He is ready to show Himself as the Healer. Phil. 4:19 says, And my God shall supply all yourneed according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Any sick person will quickly acknowledge that he needs his body to be healed.

The people must have been excited when they came to the river, Marah. What disappointment when they found the waters were bitter! They might have wondered why God would trifle with them in their time of need. They knew they were in desperate need of water God knew they were in desperate need of a new revelation of Himself! He had revealed himself as Jehovah-jireh now it is time to reveal Himself as Jehovah-rophe .God would show the people that he had a provision for them that they had not previously known. There God proved them and made a statute and ordinance a promise for health to those who were obedient. He told Moses to cut down a tree and cast it into the water. When it fell into the waters, they became sweet. Ex. 15:25, 26 tells the incident in this way:

    God Heals Our Spiritual Wounds

While physical and emotional healing is a wonderful blessing, the fact is, Jehovah Rapha is really most concerned about our spiritual health. Remember the paralytic in , who was brought to Jesus by four faith-filled friends. These friends literally ripped the roof off the house to get this man to Jesus. And Jesus took note:

When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, Son, your sins are forgiven you .

Jesus responded to the faith of the man’s friends. But He first gave the man what was needed most spiritual healing by instantly removing public condemnation and private shame. Every person who receives physical healing in this life still eventually dies it is only a temporary blessing. But everyone whose sins are forgiven by God, though they also will physically die, go on living forever in His presence.

Thank God, whatever it is that has gone wrong in your life, no matter how impossible it may seem, He can handle it. He is the Great Jehovah Rapha, the Great Physician, the Lord that heals, saves and restores!
