When You Feel Angry It Means Something Else Is Going On

5 Bible Verses About Anger Deal with Anger Issues

When you find yourself in a constant state of rage or always blowing up and losing your cool, it means that something else is going on. Finding the true source of your anger is just an opportunity to learn how to manage your anger. Often times, there are a number of past experiences and beliefs that need to be addressed so that you can release your anger.

Forgiveness may be something you need to work through. You may be able to identify the true source of your anger on your own and implement strategies to manage your anger and you may need to take time to explore your emotions, experiences, and work through your anger with the help of a Christian Counselor.

Proverbs 1: 11 Be Discrete In Dealing With Men

The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression. Proverbs 19:11 NKJV

Discretion helps us to behave or react in a way such as avoiding issues that lead to anger and violence. Regardless of the fact that you were offended, you must be discrete in handling the situation.

How Do Emotionally Intelligent People Deal With Their Anger

Those who are considered emotionally intelligent and deal with anger well often display these biblical traits. They are self-aware and first try to understand the true source of their anger.

Are they angry that someone cut them off in traffic or are they really angry that it made them feel disrespected, further perpetuating a belief they have that no one respects them or takes them seriously? Are they angry that their spouse was late for dinner or are they really angry because it made them feel unimportant and people have made them feel unimportant all their life?

Emotionally intelligent individuals are also curious and explore their feelings. They question whether theyre misplacing blame, are harboring an untrue belief about themselves or others, and are quick to show compassion and grace. Theyre practicing a process of restraining, re-evaluating, and releasing.

Short Passage Bible Verses For Kids To Memorize About Anger

Proverbs 16:32

Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

This is a great verse for kids to grasp, especially boys who love to play King of the Hill or build forts. They love stories of valiant warriors who can break through the enemy lines to take the fortress. Explain to your kids, You have a tendency to be quick to anger. But if you learn how to master your own heart, you will be mightier than the mightiest warrior.

Proverbs 19:11

Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.

Insight, wisdom, discretionthis is the key to patience. As Proverbs 12:16 says, it takes prudence to know when to ignore an insult. Ungodly anger reveals an underlying self-centeredness, getting upset about the wrong things. When we teach our kids about the value of discretion, this opens the door to talking about what is truly worth getting mad aboutand it has nothing to do with their sibling playing with their favorite toy.

Proverbs 14:29

Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.

This text teaches two great motivations to show restraint in anger . If you are slow to anger, you show you are filled with wisdom. If you are quick tempered, you become a marketer for stupidity.

James 1:19-20

A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.
