Satan Accuses Christians Before God

Satan Is Using Someone to Tempt You Away from God If They Are . . .

Revelation 12:10 says, I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. Satans defeat is sure. But his accusations havent ceased.

It is the same with us as it was with Job. Satan says to God about us, They dont really love you they love your benefits. Stretch out your hand and touch all that , and will curse you to your face . Their faith isnt real. Satan accuses us before God, as he did Job. But it is a glorious thing that followers of Jesus have an advocate who always lives to make intercession for them .

Who Are The Seven Fallen Angels

The fallen angels are named after entities from both Christian and Pagan mythology, such as Moloch, Chemosh, Dagon, Belial, Beelzebub and Satan himself. Following the canonical Christian narrative, Satan convinces other angels to live free from the laws of God, thereupon they are cast out of heaven.

When we just received bad news and are discouraged. When we are in physical pain. When we are being annoyed. When we just committed one sin. When we just received some extremely good news. The First Sunday Of Lent: Jesus Is Tempted In The Desert

One commentator on the Scriptures suggested that this experience of Jesus being tempted would not have been included in the accounts of his life and ministry unless Jesus revealed this to some of his followers. He is portrayed as vulnerable to the deceits of Satan. Why would Jesus go into the desert for a forty day retreat after his baptism? It is the same reason why people go on retreat: to refocus on who they are, where they are going and how to get there. Ones perspective about life gets blurred by all the noise and hyperactivity of life. Jesus needed time to understand the revelation of his identity given by the voices of his Father at his baptism: You are my beloved Son, my favor rests on you.

Guard Your Thought Life And Resist Temptation

Set your mind on Christ. Focus on Him and His great love for you. When your mind is so set on Christ it will not be set on anything else. Preach the gospel to yourself. When youre focused on Jesus and running towards Him you will not want to stop at distractions around you because you are so focused on Him.

Remove the dead weight that is holding you back and run. I didnt say that because it sounds good. Look at all the dead weight that is holding you back on your walk of faith right now. We all have them. Remove them so you can run with endurance.

    12. Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

    13. 2 Timothy 2:22 Flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

    Who Is The Devil

One of the first characters we encounter in Scripture, and in Sunday school lessons, is the devil. We first meet him in Genesis 3 in the form of a serpent, but his story takes place long before then .

First, before we identify him, we have to settle the question: is he real? If so, how do we know?

In fact 40 percent of Christians believe the devil is a symbol and not a real being, explains Eddie Lowen of West Side Christian Church.

After all, if he doesnt exist in the first place, apart from what Scripture says, why do we need to know anything about him at all?

We know that he does exist. Dr. Hal Cauthron explains that the existence of evil itself points to an originator or perpetrator of evil. We can also point to instances where people have been possessed by demons, servants of the devil. People will brush this off or claim the person has a mental illness, but we have to analyze what Scripture says about Satan.

If people do not believe in the existence of the devil, and ignore empirical evidence , then Satan can happily do as he pleases.

I cannot deny the trembling I felt. I had a fellow Christian witness this alongside me, who can back up the claims, and everything Id read about Satan and his demons rang true during this event.

So if the devil exists, what can and does he do, aside from possessing people or sending demons to possess people?

But lets dive into what Scripture explicitly says about the devil, also known as satan.

    Satan Does Signs And Wonders

Why Did The Devil Tempt Jesus? (Biblical Stories Explained)

In 2 Thessalonians 2:9, the last days are described like this: The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power, and with signs and wonders of the lie. Thats my awkward translation. Some translate it with false signs and wonders. But this makes the signs and wonders look unreal. In fact, some people do say that Satan can only fake miracles. I doubt it. And even if its true, his fake is going to be good enough to look real to almost everybody.

God intends that part of our preparation for heaven be a life of warfare with hell.

One reason I doubt that Satan can only fake his miracles is that in Matthew 24:24 Jesus describes the last days like this: False Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. There is no hint that these signs and wonders will be tricks.

Let your confidence be grounded in something far deeper than any supposed inability of Satan to do signs and wonders. Even real signs and wonders in the service of anti-Christian assertions, prove nothing, even when they are done in the name of Jesus. Lord, Lord, did we not do many mighty works in your name? To which Jesus will reply, I never knew you depart from me, you workers of lawlessness . The problem was not that the signs and wonders werent real, but that they were in the service of sin.

    Masquerading As Servants Of Christ

The devil had an attitude of wanting to be like God and hence made him copy certain things that God did such as performing signs, miracles, and wonders as an example. This is a concern to have because if we ourselves are not equipped with Gods Word as a standard to distinguish which words and actions come from Him, then we can easily be deceived by the devil himself.

As stated in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, the devil disguises himself as an angel of light. This is why when he deceives, it may not be that easy to recognize him and his works through people who belong to him. They make themselves seem like servants of righteousness instead. Its not the picture we may have originally envisioned compared to the beginning in thinking about his appearance.

Bible Verses The Devil Doesnt Want You To Know About

Hereâs an armory of verses that will send Satan packing every time he tries to come to us with his lies and deceit.

We challenged our followers on Facebook: Name a verse the devil doesnt want you to know about.

The response was quite overwhelming! We are familiar with Satans tricks, and know that the word of God is the way to overcome him every time. What a treasure of armor, power, and strength Gods word gives us! He truly has not left us on our own to overcome the wiles of the devil, but has fully equipped us. The devil cant stand up to the word of God.

Of course its a bit of a tongue-in-cheek question, because we know that Satan would be happiest if we disregarded the word of God entirely. There isnt a word there that hes happy for us to know about. But its a good exercise to think about it anyway, and think of verses that have been a special weapon for us.

Here is just a handful of the verses that were shared on Facebook.

Was Satan A Musician In Heaven

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

    What To Do About Temptation

In a word, the best recourse for temptation is to be delivered from it by faith in Christ. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you . Faith is not merely a passive clinging to our justification , but rather a militant faith that acts, that seeks sanctificationbecoming more like Christ.

Temptation dies when the steel teeth of the trap are unmasked. Temptation loses its power when the love of Jesus Christ satisfies our desires.

And I know that if you have been tested and failed, like Peter , or tempted and trapped, like so many others, Gods grace and love covers a multitude of sins. Jesus Christ loves you. He lived the life you could never live. He died the death that should have been ours. And He offers eternal life and abundant life for all who turn to Him. This message of the Gospel is, in itself, the best defense against the power of temptation.

How Is Satan Described In Paradise Lost

4 Signs Satan Is Tempting You to Fall in Love with the Wrong Person

In John Miltons Paradise Lost Satan is portrayed as proud, manipulative, and vengeful against God, whom he sees as a powerful oppressor. Some Romantic poets saw Satan as the real hero of the poem and applauded his rebellion against God.

Satan, in the three major Abrahamic religions , the prince of evil spirits and adversary of God. Satan is traditionally understood as an angel who rebelled against God and was cast out of heaven with other fallen angels before the creation of humankind. Ezekiel 28:1418 and Isaiah 14:1217 are the key Scripture passages that support this understanding, and, in the New Testament, in Luke 10:18 Jesus states that he saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. In all three major Abrahamic religions, Satan is identified as the entity that tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden and was thus the catalyst for the fall of humankind.

    The Devil Tempted Eve

When the devil tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden , he stirred up the sinful nature in her. He did this through a clever line of reasoning.

He questioned Gods Word . He did not deny that God had spoken. He simply questioned whether God had really said what Eve thought He had said.

He questioned Gods love for Eve . The way Satan asked this question implies that he was questioning Gods love. If God really loved you, He wouldnt keep something from you, would He? Satan used this same tactic on Jesus in the wilderness: If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread . In other words, Why are you hungry if you are Gods Son? As the author Tennyson once said, A lie that is all of a lie can be met with and fought outright. But a lie that is partly the truth is a harder matter to fight.

He denied Gods Word . Satan finally threw out Gods warning altogether, telling Eve, You will not surely die. It is but a short step from questioning Gods Word to denying it. If Eve had not listened to Satan questioning Gods Word, she would never have fallen into Satans trap when he denied Gods Word. Eve was at the wrong place, at the wrong time, listening to the wrong person, which ultimately led to her doing the wrong thing.

He substituted his own lie . Satan told Eve that if she eats from the tree, she will be like God, knowing good and evil. Interestingly, this was Satans own sin, for he had attempted to take Gods place.

I dont know you or your story. I dont know what temptations you are trying to fight right now.

In fact, our biggest temptations probably dont look the same!

For most of my life, food was my biggest temptation. My 100-pound weight loss journey was far more a spiritual/character journey than it was just about a change in my body.

It was a daily fight against my desire for food the thing that was trying to lure me away from God and tell me that I could and should get what I wanted when I wanted it.

My food cravings told me that they were a need, not a want. They screamed at me to turn to food instead of God when I knew food would never fix the problems I was dealing with.

Small temptations turned into huge, character-altering temptations that destroyed both my body and my soulbut thats not the end of my story.

Because I have a God who fought for me and made me an overcomer as I fought back against one temptation at a time.

And, whatever you are facing, you can too.
