In our studies in the Book of Matthew we have been seeing how the evangelisthas been emphasizing the authority of Jesus.1 Now, in the beginning of Matthew 9, we have an account of an event that shows that He has authority to forgive sins.
In our method of studying the text we have been noticing how the dialogue in a passage is the critical element for interpreting the events. This will be very important again in this short narrative as Jesus offers a detailed explanation of the connection between healing and forgiving.
We have also been noting how in studying the text we have different participants in the stories–Jesus, His followers, those He helps, and His enemies. It is important in studying the text to note to which of these the speeches of Jesus are directed, and then in turn to whom the whole event is directed. The words may be a corrective teaching or a rebuke to those who opposed Him, but they and the whole incident are intended to convince people of His authority. So when we come to making applications from the lesson, it is easy for us to think in these groups for points of reference, that is, how we should respond to Jesus and how we should not, based on the representative characters in the story.

Both Saint And Sinner
There are at least three biblical truths that must be kept together simultaneously.
First, for those who have repented of sin and trusted in Christ as Lord and Savior, God declares them right before him on the basis of Christs righteousness and substitutionary death . As a declarative act of God and not a process by which we are infused with righteousness, justification takes place in the believer once for all time .
Although everyone will stand before Christs judgment seat and hear the public verdict of whether or not we are in him , for believers this end-time verdict has now been brought into the present. We have already crossed from death to life . Justification once received cannot be lost.
Second, God commands us to confess our sins as we sin . This command not only applies to our initial justification, but, as the context of 1 John makes clear, confession is ongoing for Christians:
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves if we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar . . . but if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins .
Third, God not only commands us to confess our sins, but also promises to forgive us in the future and, in a real sense, hinges our forgiveness on whether we forgive others, after we have presumably been justified .

Are All My Past Present And Future Sins Forgiven How Can Future Sins Be Forgiven Already
Forgiveness of all our sins is one of the beautiful mysteries of the Christian faith. Firstly, how can God possibly forgive such rebellious and flawed people? And secondly, how can Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross be sufficient to cover past, present, and future sins? Our answer lies both in Scripture and in exercising a bit of logic.

Luke 15: 11-22 There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, Father, give me my share of the estate. So he divided his property between them.
Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
When he came to his senses, he said, How many of my fathers hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son make me like one of your hired servants. So he got up and went to his father.

How To Forgive: Understanding The Trinity’s Role
When we have been hurt, our instinct is to hurt back. We want to make the other person pay for what they did. But exacting revenge steps over the line into God’s territory, as Paul warned,
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge I will repay,” says the Lord.
If we cannot take revenge, then we must forgive. God commands it. But how? How can we let it go when we have been unjustly hurt?
The answer lies in understanding the Trinity’s role in forgiveness. Christ’s role was to die for our sins. God the Father’s role was to accept Jesus’ sacrifice on our behalf and forgive us. Today, the Holy Spirit’s role is to enable us to do those things in the Christian life we cannot do on our own, namely forgive others because God has forgiven us.
Refusing to forgive leaves an open wound in our soul that festers into bitterness, resentment, and depression. For our own good, and the good of the person who hurt us, we simply must forgive. Just as we trust God for our salvation, we have to trust him to make things right when we forgive. He will heal our wound so we can move on.

Are Only Past Sins Forgiven Romans : 25 & 1 Peter : 9
Today, Ill be examining topic of the forgiveness of sins. Specifically, when we place our faith in Christ for salvation, does God at that moment forgive all of our sins , or just PAST sins, those that occurred before that moment we were saved? Lets look into it.
The whole reason for this video is that some people on the Internet, particularly those who believe you can lose your salvation, are teaching that at the moment we place our faith in Christ for salvation, only our past sins are forgiven, those that occurred prior to that moment when we placed our faith in Christ. This means that anytime we sin after we are saved, those new sins are not automatically covered by the blood of Christ and are not forgiven until we confess them and repent of them. By confessing and repenting of new sins, this brings them under the blood of Christ and allows God to forgive us for those sins.
But, this also means that if a saved Christian fails to confess and repent of any new sins after they are saved, then those sins are not forgiven and he or she could lose salvation. So for saved Christians to keep their salvation, they must walk in obedience to God and then confess and repent of every sin, every day, so that they dont have unconfessed or unrepented sin in their lives that could cause the loss of their salvation.

Blessings That Could Only Occur If All Sins Were Forgiven

As humans we still sin. We struggle with it and feel guilty because of it. As such, we rationalize that our sin is an issue with God. This perspective is what fuels this notion that God is upset with us because of sin. Many feel that God is waiting for an excuse to strike them down. Even believers are sin-conscious before God, but this should not be.
The truth is Jesus has paid for the sins of the entire world. “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” . If sin were atoned for, then by Jesus’ blood we are forgiven by God. Even people that reject Jesus have been forgiven of all of their sin. We know this because Jesus only made one sacrifice, for sin, for all times. “And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin” . Sin is not the issue the issue is our non-Biblical perspective of it and its effect on our relationship with God.
Jesus is the perfect imprint of God’s nature and shows us God’s goodness, love and mercy in an incredible way. Since Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father we know our redemption and forgiveness is secure and eternal.

What Is The True Definition Of Forgiveness
Forgiveness is not about forgetting people hurt you or acting like it doesn’t matter. Forgiveness is a process that involves letting go of the need to seek revenge or pay someone back for the harm they did to you or someone you care about. If you forgive someone, you no longer want to see harm come to them, or for them to get “a taste of their own medicine”. Forgiveness is healthy because it relieves you from the painful burden of hate and bitterness and allows you to heal more completely from the pain you’ve been through.
It’s important to remember that sometimes, you have to forgive someone from afar. If you were abused, or felt unsafe around the person who caused you pain, you don’t have to interact with them or talk to them in order to extend forgiveness to them. You can do the work of forgiving them from afar, with the help of a mentor or counselor if you need it. We Should Forgive Others As God Forgives Us
