We begin with Moses, a great Jewish leader who lived about 1500 BC and led the Israelites out of Egypt, out of slavery. If asked about the author of the Bible, he would answer that God told him what he should write.

The Bible teaches us that Moses was the first one to begin writing down the information coming from God.
Like Moses, the prophets and the kings who wrote the majority of the Old Testament portion of the Bible, repeat the same answer. God is the one who told them to write what they wrote down.
The Bible Is God’s Word
The Bible makes bold declarations about its origin and its power. The apostle Paul wrote these words to his protégé, Timothy: All scripture is inspired by God . The apostle Peter wrote, Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophets own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit .
Clearly, these are bold assertions. The Bible declares itself to be the very words of God. God inspired. God breathed. If this is true, then you might expect its words to be life transforming. And they are.
What If You Want Wisdom
Proverbs 2 tell us what to do if we want wisdom. If we want to be wise we must accept the Bible, the word of God, and learn His commands . We must learn to have an “ear” for understanding and set our hearts to receive it . We also must be willing to call and cry out for wisdom and pursue it like a great treasure .

The Bible Is Relevant
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
While most literature is passive in nature, Gods Word is alive and active. It penetrates our hearts, it assesses our attitudes, and its words can alter the course of our life. In fact, the Bible has altered the lives of millions of people in every nation, of every color, every race, and every language.
Unlike books that become stale over time, the Bible provides fresh insight, fresh nuggets of truth, and fresh application every time we read it. The Bible is as relevant today as it was 3,000 years ago. Truths like, Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path or, The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple never become irrelevant.

Who Was King David
The first wave of scribes may, its been suggested, have started work during the reign of King David . Whether thats true or not, David is a monumental figure in the biblical story the slayer of Goliath, the conqueror of Jerusalem. David is also a hugely important figure in the quest to establish links between the Bible and historical fact, for he appears to be the earliest biblical figure to be confirmed by archaeology.

Some writers claimed to see God and speak to Him face to face . Hundreds of thousands if not millions heard His voice giving the 10 Commandments . It was so powerful and frightening the people said, Let not God speak with us, lest we die .
