Books Of The Bible That Have A Number In Front Of Their Name

Bible Verses About Wisdom Read Out Loud
1 Samuel
2 Chronicles 2 Timothy

There is a book called 1 Corinthians and the book right after it is called 2 Corinthians. The above reference would mean the 13th chapter of the book 1 Corinthians, verses 1 to 13.

Look out for 4 books in the Bible that have the name John in them. There is John, which is sometimes referred to as The Gospel of John. Then there are 3 letters that John wrote: 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John. People usually call these First John, Second John, and Third John. Note: John 4:18 is not the same as 1 John 4:18!

A Combination Of Consecutive And A Selection Of Verses

Matt. 6:25-27, 34

This example references verse 25 to 27 and then also verse 34 of the 6th chapter of Matthew.

25 Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?;34 Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Choose A Few Scriptures That Relate To The Area You Want To Change

Renewing your mind is all about changing your thinking to how God thinks, so His inspired Word is the best place to start. The Bible gives you a target to aim for when changing the direction of your thinking and specific verses that you want to focus on will help you be intentional with your growth.;

Certain verses may immediately come to mind, or you might want to search online for verses related to an area you want to change. Here are a few suggestions if you need some help getting started:

For direction:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.;Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

For fear:

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

For anxiety:;

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7;And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.;Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

I Highly Recommend That You Make It Your Top Priority By Doing It The First Thing In The Morning

If that means going to bed a little earlier, DO IT! Getting into Gods Word first will align your thoughts with Gods thoughts and will set the trajectory for your whole day. Youll be preaching the Gospel to yourself, which you need every day. It acts as an inoculation against the poisoning messages of the world around you.

Think of life as a symphony

Therefore, choose to tune your instrument BEFORE each days performance.

Or, think of yourself as an iron sewing needle

We learn from science that an iron needle will become magnetized if you rub it over a strong magnet. We also know from science that the needle will actually float on the surface of water.

And because the magnetized needle is floating and thus free to move it turns until it points to the north. It acts like a compass.

In the same way

By rubbing our minds over the strong magnet of Gods Word, it causes us to turn toward God-honoring thoughts and choices, just as the iron needle turns toward the north.

But the problem is

The needle looses its magnetic strength during the day. Likewise, we tend to become weakened and beaten down by the tough issues of life that confront us each day.

Simple Steps To Memorizing Longer Passages Of Scripture:

Read Bible out loud #bible
  • Add all verses from the passage into your chosen Bible Memory App. You can also just write them out on index cards. My chosen app is The Bible Memory App. When I add them as a group, I get the option to review them individually or combined as I work through it and memorize more and more verses in the passage. Being able to review them consecutively together is helpful.
  • Work daily on your bible memory. Even if you can only squeeze in a few minutes.
  • Work on one new verse a day in the passage. I like to make sure I can recite the new verse 10 ten times before moving on to a new one. Sometimes it may take me more than a day to add a new verse.;
  • Review all your verses together from the passage your working on every day.
  • Record yourself reciting the verses and play it back on repeat as you work through it. I use the voice memo app on my phone and recite it along with myself.
  • Recite the passages out loud throughout the day. This is a way to meditate on scripture as you recite it to think through what the passage means. Don’t just recite it without thinking about it. Once you have the whole passage memorized, make sure you review it at least monthly.;
  • Study through the passage. The more you understand what the passage means, the better able God’s Word is to take root in your heart and mind.;

    The Public Reading Of Scripture

    The Bible is the very Word of the living God, breathed out by God and given to us to train us in all that is necessary for life and godliness. As Gods people we are deeply reliant on Scripture, trusting that the Bible is the only infallible and inerrant means through which God speaks to us. For this reason Scripture must be central to our worship services. We ought to read it, sing it and preach it every Sunday! Reading Scripture is not something we do out of duty or obligation, but something we do in delight, trusting that it is a means by which the Lord blesses pursues, convicts and draws. To stand at the front of a church and read the Bible is to stand in the place of God and proclaim his Word.

    Reading So We Can Listen

    But often our Scripture readings become rote. They feel stale. The words stay on the pagea product of ancient times, written to people who aren’t us. In some cases we can’t hear much difference between the breathless accounts of creation and the long genealogies! How can we read the Bible in a way that brings the words to life? How can we read Scripture in a way that allows us to listen to God speaking today?

    Here are some steps to get started, gleaned from years of listening to Scripture come alive as I have sat on different pews and chairs, benches, mats and floors. Try practicing them on your own first. Then use them when reading the Bible out loud in your church, small group, or family.

    1. Begin by setting your focus.

    God is already present in the room. Give yourself time to settle into this awareness. Remove distractions; start with silence.

    2. Slowly uncover each word’s meaning.

    Let your reading be a discoveryespecially if the passage is familiar to you. Read with conviction, believing these words have significance for you and others.

    3. Don’t be afraid to pause.

    Did something stand out to you? Don’t rush through the reading. Take time to digest the words. Give people space to reflect on them and feel their weight. God has something to say to you and your listeners.

    4. Get swept up in the passage!

    5. Let God speak to you, too.

    6. Stay watchful.

    How To Read The Bible Out Loud

    Gordon Fee, in his book How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth states that the Bible was written more to be listened to than read. That is, when the authors wrote it, they imagined people hearing it read out loud more than they thought of it being read off of the page. Before the printing press, books were enormously expensive and reading out loud was extremely common and something of an art form. Its one of the reasons why Paul commands Timothy not to neglect the public reading of Scripture . That is how most people heard the Bible.

    Although that is not entirely true today, do not underestimate how powerful a good reading of Scripture can be. I firmly believe what one South African seminary professor said: If we read the Scriptures properly, a sermon is hardly necessary. He wasnt against preaching. He just understood how powerful Scripture can be when read for impact. If you read the Bible correctly out loud, people will actually hear the message the text declares. They will find themselves hearing things they had passed over. They will get a different sense of emphasis and a deeper sense of the gravity of the message.

    So how do you do it? How do you read the Bible for maximum impact?

    If you do the following, the impact of your reading can be greatly increased. Ive tried to place these in order of importance.

  • Believe in what youre doing
  • Read slowly and deliberately, based on the content
  • Emphasize every word that has content emphasis.

    The king went up to the house of the Lord and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the Lord.

    And all the people gathered as one man at the square which was in front of the Water Gate, and they asked Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses which the Lord had given to Israel.Then Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly of men, women and all who could listen with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.He read from it before the square which was in front of the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of men and women, those who could understand; and all the people were attentive to the book of the law.

    How to Read the Bible Out Loud and Hear God Speak

    Psalm 119:9, 11

    Whenever there is a comma in the reference, what follows it is a verse or multiple verses in the same chapter.

    Sometimes the Scripture reference can include a selection of 2 or more verses. The example above references the book of Psalms, the 119th chapter, and both verse 9 and verse 11 in that same chapter. This reference would not include verse 10.

    9 How can a young man keep his way pure?By guarding it according to your word11I have stored up your word in my heart,that I might not sin against you.

    Also, a reference can be made to a lot of verses in that same chapter. For example: Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 14, 20, 24, 26. This would refer to 7 different verse in that same chapter of Genesis 1, each verse separated by a comma.

    The SOAP Bible study method stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. He wanted the SOAP method for Bible study to be a practical way that people can spend time in Gods Word and apply what they learn to their lives.

    The S.O.A.P Bible study method combines Bible study, analysis, application, and praying. The SOAP Bible study method can be combined with Bible journaling to make the most out of your time with God. As mentioned, SOAP is a simple acronym that stands for:

    Reading The Bible Out Loud: Emphasis Is Everything

    Healing Scriptures Read Out Loud

    At this point I want to say congratulations because now you know how to emphasize the title of this blog post. You know this because I just added an incredibly useful tool that gives readers an indicator of emphasis. We call this the use of italics. .The problem with this is that the Bible does not give us italics. We must determine where to emphasize by studying the context of any given sentence. While studying context is an essential part of interpreting the Bible, we often forget that a rather easy and doable method of context is the method of reading a passage out loud. This enables us to hear the different emphasis options of a sentence.

    You may be wondering if this really makes any difference. Let me share an example by placing the emphasis in different spots in one of the most popularized passages in all the Bible:

  • For God so loved the world, that he gave his onlySon, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life

  • For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life

  • For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life

  • For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoeverbelieves in him should not perish but have eternal life

  • So now I ask, which is it?
