What To Consider Before Remarriage

BEFORE YOU GET MARRIED… WATCH THIS! || What the Bible says About Marriage!

Its hard to weigh what you want to do and what the bible says about your decisions. Divorce itself is already discouraged and what more about remarriage? In most cases, its advised that couples who have problems undergo counseling because there are a lot of cases of divorce and remarriage to the same person. This isnt romantic at all but rather a proof that they are not sure about their decisions. Before deciding to remarry, consider the following:

  • Make sure youre ready to enter another relationship.
  • Make sure that you have weighed all the pros and cons of marrying your partner.
  • Make sure that youve already moved on from your ex.
  • Make sure you are financially stable.
  • Are you ready to have a blended family?
  • If you have children are they ready?
  • Are you ready to compromise?
  • So whether you want to get divorced or get married, you need to consider many important things first. Remember, this isnt just about how expensive weddings and divorce are but how you are promising something in the eyes of our Lord.

Ii: Does The Teaching Of Jesus Regardingdivorce And Remarriage Apply To People Outside The Church

Some people believe that Jesus’ teaching regarding divorce andremarriage was addressed only to those who are in covenantrelationship with Him . It does not apply to people outside the church sincethey are not citizens in Christ’s kingdom, not members of thebody of which He is the head, etc.

It is argued that people outside Christ are condemned becausethey have not subjected themselves to Christ or because they haveviolated God’s universal moral law but until they becomeChristians, God does not notice or hold them accountable forviolations of specific New Testament teachings such as divorcelaws.

So it is concluded that, no matter how many times such peopledivorce and remarry before they become Christians, when they arebaptized they just keep the companion they have then. Butconsider the following points:

Which Of These 10 Biblical Reasons For Marriage Spoke To You Today

All those years ago, as I sat face to face with these 10 Biblical reasons for marriage that still apply today- I had a choice. I could agree with God that yes, there is a purpose of marriage today and begin to embrace the Biblical keys to a successful marriage to stay married. Or I could turn from God, divorce again, and go through the pain of that sinful mistake. Dont misunderstand me, I believe there are Biblical reasons to divorce, but I wasnt living in any of them. My marriage was hard because of sin on both of our parts and God had clearly told me to stay and stand for my marriage. You have to Guard your heart in a Difficult Marriage!

I chose to stay. But staying meant working through sin and hurt through a Christian counselor. It is not shameful to get help. An outside, unattached person can often speak into a hurting situation in a powerful way. If you are in a hard season get help sweet wife!

The counselor taught me about Biblical Boundaries for sinful behavior. Those boundaries created a safe place for us to start again and have a marriage that will stand the test of time.

Im curious which Biblical reason for marriage most challenges you:

  • God instituted marriage
  • Sexual Intimacy was Gods design to bless marriage
  • Procreation is a reason for marriage
  • Provision and support are reasons for marriage
  • Godly character is refined through marriage

    Close Bond In Marriage

The Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone I will make a helper comparable to him . After each of the six days of Creation week, God reviewed what He had made and saw that it was good. But there was one thing in Eden that very first week that was not good! All the animals God had created, came in pairsa male and a female. But there was no female for Adam! That is when God created Eve and performed the very first marriage .

God made men and women to complement each otherphysically, mentally, and socially. He built into our being a desire for the companionship of a husband or wife. Thats why the Bible says, He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord .

    Marriage Makes You More Holy

Marriage according to the Holy Bible

In the beginning, God observed that it was not good for man to be alone and created Eve as a companion,a helpmeet for him. Somewhere along the way weve equated that partnership with happiness and we feel jipped if we are not perfectly happy in marriage all the time. But think back to the first marriage. Were they happy all the time? Nope. They took their eyes off God and fell into sin. The Biblical purpose of marriage is not to make you happy but to make you holy!

    • Adam & Eve with leadership struggles and sin
    • Abraham & Sara with impatience and bigotry
    • Issac & Rebekah with favoritism and deception
    • Elkanah & Hannah with disappointment and comparison
    • Hosea & Gomer with infidelity and abandonment

What The Bible Says About Divorce And Remarriage

Nowadays, divorce and remarriage isnt really a big deal for most of us but when we talk about what does the bible say about divorce and remarriage its a different topic. There are still people who still value what the bible says about divorce and remarriage.

For them, marriage is more than just a piece of paper, its a promise blessed by God and shouldnt end in divorce.

With this reason, many would rather seek guidance and help than consider divorce.

Some of the most notable bible verses about divorce and remarriage are:

    Matthew 19:6-8 New International Version

6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.

7 Why then, they asked, did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?

8 Jesus replied, Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.

Matthew 19:6-8 explains that while its allowed within certain conditions, divorce is still a departure from the teachings of our Lord.

    Malachi 2:16

For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her, says the LORD, the God of Israel, covers his garment with violence, says the LORD of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.

It is a mans duty to take care of his wife in accordance to the teachings of our Lord, that he is to leave his family and shall dedicate his life for his wife as they are already considered as one.

    Can I Remarry My Ex

if she has been married to another man since the divorce

The New Testament does not have a specific teaching on this topic. However, if ex-spouses can be reconciled, remarriage seems to be in accordance with the spirit of New Testament teachings ” rel=”nofollow”> Mark 10:2-12, ), particularly if neither partner has remarried since the divorce.

C Jesus’ Teaching Regarding Divorce Andremarriage Was Addressed To People In General Not Just To Hisdisciples

Matthew 19:3-9 – To whom did Jesus address theseinstructions?

    Note whom He addressed.

V2 – He was speaking to great multitudes.

V3,4 – His teaching on divorce was an answer to a questionasked by Pharisees who were seeking to “try” Him.He addressed His answer “to them” . Clearly, theywere not His disciples but His enemies and opponents . .

V5 – He quoted Gen. 2:24 saying “a man“should leave father and mother and cleave to his wife .We will soon see that this is universal in application. Itincludes all people everywhere.

V9 – “Whosoever” shall put away his wife andmarry another commits adultery. NIV says “Anyone” who… ” Luke 16:18 in ASV and NASB says “Everyone that… ” .

V10-12 – Jesus discussed the issue of to whom thisteaching applied. He said there were exceptions to whom it didnot apply – eunuchs! Hence, the only exceptions to Jesus’ law ofdivorce and remarriage are unmarried people!

To those who say this is a “covenant” passage, I askwhat “covenant” people it is limited to.

The “whosoever” cannot be just Jews under the OldTestament covenant since Jesus clearly admits that His teachingis different from that of Moses. It cannot be just Christiansunder the gospel since the Pharisees, to whom Jesus spoke this, were not disciples. Hence it cannot be limited to any “covenant”people. It must be a universal application to all people.

Matthew 5:31,32 – To whom does this teaching apply?

    “Whosoever” , “Every one … ” , “Anyone” .

    Biblical Foundations And History

    Marriage according to the bible

Christians believe that marriage is considered in its ideal according to the purpose of God. At the heart of God’s design for marriage is companionship and intimacy.

The biblical picture of marriage expands into something much broader, with the husband and wife relationship illustrating the relationship between Christ and the church.

It is also considered in its actual occurrence, sometimes involving failure. Therefore, the Bible speaks on the subject of divorce. The New Testament recognizes a place for singleness. Salvation within Christianity is not dependent on the continuation of a biological lineage.

The Genesis creation account tells the story of when God instituted marriage. This took place after the creation of the first woman, Eve, from Adam, the first man.

Like the adjacent Arabic culture , the act of marriage appears mainly to have consisted of the groom fetching the bride, although among the Israelites the procession was a festive occasion, accompanied by music, dancing, and lights. To celebrate the marriage, week-long feasts were sometimes held.

Since a wife was regarded as property, her husband was originally free to divorce her with little restriction, at any time. A divorced couple could get back together unless the wife had married someone else after her divorce.

The Meaning And Purpose Of Marriage

A Christian marriage is a union of two people in front of Gods, their family, relatives, and ancestors for utmost marital bliss. Marriage is the beginning of a new setup in terms of family and a life-long commitment.

The purpose and meaning of marriage are to basically honor the commitment and reach a level of fulfillment in life. We can divide the biblical purpose of marriage as follows:

Does The Bible Say I Should Separate From My Non

To the rest I say I and not the Lord that if any believer has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her. And if any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is made holy through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy through her husband. Otherwise, your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

    Christian Views On Marriage

From the earliest days of the Christian faith, Christians have honored holy matrimony as a divinely blessed, lifelong, monogamous union, between a man and a woman. According to the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer , reflecting the traditional view, “Christian marriage is a solemn and public covenant between a man and a woman in the presence of God,” “intended by God for their mutual joy for the help and comfort given one another in prosperity and adversity and, when it is God’s will, for the procreation of children and their nurture.” However, while many Christians might agree with the traditional definition, the terminology and theological views of marriage have varied through time in different countries, and among Christian denominations.

Many Protestants consider marriage to be a sacred institution or “holy ordinance” of God. Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Christians consider marriage a holy sacrament or sacred mystery. However, there have been and are differing attitudes among denominations and individual Christians towards not only the concept of Christian marriage, but also concerning divorce, remarriage, gender roles, family authority , the legal status of married women, birth control, , cousin marriage, , interfaith marriage, same-sex marriage, and polygamy, among other topics, so that in the 21st century there cannot be said to be a single, uniform, worldwide view of marriage among all who profess to be Christians.

Jesus On Marriage Divorce And Remarriage

    symbolchirho

The Bible clearly addresses marriage and divorce. Those in troubled marriages are encouraged to seek counseling and restoration because, according to some advocates of traditional marriage ethics, most divorces are neither necessary nor unavoidable.

“Have you not read that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female, and said, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh”? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

    â

In both Matthew and Mark, Jesus appealed to God’s will in creation. He builds upon the narratives in where male and female are created together and for one another. Thus Jesus takes a firm stand on the permanence of marriage in the original will of God. This corresponds closely with the position of the Pharisee school of thought led by Shammai, at the start of the first millennium, with which Jesus would have been familiar. By contrast, Rabbinic Judaism subsequently took the opposite view, espoused by Hillel, the leader of the other major Pharisee school of thought at the time in Hillel’s view, men were allowed to divorce their wives for any reason.

Jesus brought together two passages from Genesis, reinforcing the basic position on marriage found in Jewish scripture. Thus, he implicitly emphasized that it is God-made , “male and female,” lifelong , and monogamous .
